I have just heard the mp3 that MR NICK has to offer, and all I can say is this: "All hail the new God of leather thongs"....cluck...MR NICK...you are without a doubt one of the greatest players I have ever heard...you have forced me to stand down from the lofty heights of guitardom...choosing instead to sacrifice the Woolworths Srat to the dustbin of time...in a straight head cut..who would win..me or Jack "Mr Nick" Butler?.....this question burns through my every thought...my best bested......................I suggest everyone has a listen....decide for yourselves...and then ask yourself this one important question...who is taking the piss...me or him...cluck....baa....moo....?????????

Nick When you're down at the ACM, please play Master Yoda one of those diminished seconds or whatever it was he wanted to hear so he could go on his streaking run.

Siren I actually thought that picture of Joe looked kinda gay. Not one of his best photos, anyway. My favourite photo of Joe is the one in The Extremist cover where he has his arm in the shark's mouth and is screaming. Do you have the extremist?

Whoever asked, I *think* that back in his Akiko days, Siren said he was a boy.

Clarky What do you reckon would happen if we introduced an EFA into the equation (assuming they actually get it finished). Do you know the story about the JSF and the aircraft carriers we're ordering? I'll tell you if you like - it's really funny.

Only one day till Clapton They're laying down the lighting wires and stuff in the sports hall now! I, of course, have a free period and am at home drinking coffee and listening to 6DOIT, not allowed, of course, I just hope they don't have a fire drill.

What are you doing instead of the Jemfest, Matt?

Whoever liked the photo of Joe's flame guitar You should all check out the guy's site. There's a REALLY cool double neck guitar on there the guy's painted. Nice work, Joe.

Everything is now in a centralized location....top!!

Hi Satch Fans, Hi Joe, can we have more blue please, we all know you're busy but it only takes a few minutes to check out the site each day. I want to know if you're like Olive Oil on the clothes thing, I've noticed on all your photos for this tour you wear the same stuff. Do you have a wardrobe of the same t shirts and the same trousers or does Rubina have to get the washer going each day. for those that can't remember, Olive Oil has a wardrobe full of the same dresses, the only difference is the skirt lengths are different.

Visit us poor souls more often Joe, you know we love you.

Andy is still having his guitar lessons, it's been a few months now, he's learning something called pull offs and something where you bend the strings a bit, that sort of thing.

At the moment I am doing nothing, well I am eating lemon merangue so I suppose that is something.

Invigor - nice photo of Joe.

LOL Sharon

VBIL - bro - as usual I could expect nothing less.... very funny... but very harsh... lol

greg - I dont know much about the EFA or the carrier story... enlighten me... lol
Nick - the 12 bar blues pretty much always contains I, IV and V... however it can be in many forms...

I ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦ IV ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦ I ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦
V ' ' ' ¦ IV ' ' ' ¦ I ' ' ' ¦ V ' ' ' ¦

or

I ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦ IV ' ' ' ¦ I ' ' ' ¦ IV ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦ I ' ' ' ¦ ' ' ' ' ¦
V ' ' ' ¦ IV ' ' ' ¦ I ' ' ' ¦ V ' ' ' ¦

there are just loads of combinations.....

Ovation - I know that the Russian aircraft don't have the avionics and materials of their US and Western European counterparts.. I'm just talking about the airframe design... stroke of genius... the Russians do have a knack of getting the best out of very little.... I guess is that, for all the advanced features in an F16, I'd put money on the F16 pilot being more than a little nervous knowing that he is facing a squadron of SU37's [especially with Russian pilots..].. I'd expect the F22 pilots to feel a bit more confident but still, I wouldn't expect the fight to be a pushover for the F22's...

Matt seems to have built a whole section within his site for the theory posse... this makes life even easier... I'll go back through and check everything for errors... these will be the definative versions....

I'll do each theory posse item as a separate post... that way, any questions pertinant to a specific topic can be captured in a specific thread.... this will be extremely cool..

Matt - when we eventually meet up - I owe you beers bro... lol

Hi there, it's been a while since my last posting here, so maybe a brief introduction? Well, I'm 28 years old and live in Rotterdam, Holland. Been a big fan of Joe's since I saw the '91 Guitar Legends festival in Sevilla on TV. Have all the albums by the way. In case anyone here remembers, I was the one who suggested the Banana Mango flavored guitar picks maybe 2 years (?) back... Whatever happened to that idea? I have a question for you all, undoubtedly being one of the few fans who don't play the guitar themselves... The situation is that I would very much like to learn to play the guitar; but what gear should I buy? Personally I really like the following guitars; Ibanez JS, Ibanez Jem and the Burns Red Special Brian May signature (in three tone sunburst that is). But, these are all fairly expensive. Not that I don't have the money, but what if it turns out I have no talent for playing guitar.... :) Should I just buy a cheap Squire Strat? And that's just the guitar; what about amps? Please help me out here, any advice is welcome!

CLARKY - I think that the TP on COE will be great, like you say, especially for starting threads on each particular subject.

SILVERSURFER - Man, that guitar legends gig sticks in my mind as well, the first time that i saw SV 'live', playing FTLOG brought tears to my eyes. On the guitar front, it's a tough one, and i can't say that i know the answer. The quetsion as i see it, ignoring the 'what if i don't get on with it' aspect, is ........ if you spend more money on a 'good' guitar is it going to be easier to play OR do you buy a cheaper guitar which is going to be 'harder' to play but will (for example) strengthen your fingers. I suppose what i mean is does playing a lower quality guitar for a start encourage bad technique ? I'd be interested to hear what people think on that. I think that the main thing with whatever guitar you buy is get it set up properly, don't just let the shop where you bought it do it (unless they have a good reputation) talk to local guitarists and see if you can find a good luthier. There have been stories in here of people that have spent a lot of money on the JS models only to find that they haven't played that well. On the other hand i've got a £180 Kramer Striker that was set up properly and is no less playable than my Jem that was set up by the same bloke. Okay, i've rambled enough, hope that's of some use. EDIT - Amps - probably on a sfe bet with the small Marshall (10w, 15w) amps, plenty loud enough for the home and they've still got the Marshall sound - sorry i can't remember the model names / numbers.

JOE PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just on ebay showing a friend the Digitech 2101 that my brother just purchased and while I was on there I saw some listings saying that the stuff was from your studio. He said you were cleaning house and that you dropped off alot of your stuff at their place. He offers no proof that it even came from your studio. It's pretty hard to believe the guys story but I thought you might want to check it out. He says that the 2101 has some of your personal settings in it. He says his repair guy Gary Brawer has been doing work for you for years. His website is legite and he owns Real Guitars store in San Francisco. Tell me, are these what he says they are?

Nick Well hopefully they'll teach you when you get there.

Siver Surfer If you like jems, you could try getting a second hand jem555. In england, they cost £950 list price (when they were made, that is) so they'd probably sell for 800 say, and buying a second hand one would save you a lot on that.

Clarky We had the option to order 2 sorts of JSF, the VSTOL ones or the ones which required big long runways. We currently have compact carriers, because of the Harrier's VTOL/STOL capability, so if we ever wanted to run a JSF off a compact carrier, we would need the VSTOL version of the JSF. This is the one we have put in orders for. However, although you'd think we would then order the compact carriers to match, we haven't. There is a possibility of some american marines or something ordering the VSTOL JSF, but someone got wind up that they may cancel there order, and there would then be not enough orders for the planes to make them, and we'd end up having to accept the normal JSFs which require big runways. We have therefore ordered massive big carriers from which normal planes can take off. So it could be the case that we end up paying for loads of extra VSTOL technology that we never use because we have also paid for massive carriers.

BTW at RAF Finningly ages ago they had an SU27, and that thing can perform stunts nothing in our airforce could dream of. That's their trainer! It sure beats the crud out of the Hawk.

Trogdor.. its been so long since ive heard him mentioned here...

although (shameless plug) I think my trogdor guitar suits the name better than Joes :-p. That guitar reminds me of like 50's hot rods all headin up to chubby checker's for burgers and then roller skating. Back to the future was a great movie.
