Yo Joe, you taught many pupils who grew up to be famous musicians. I was just wandering what Larry Lalonde was like when he started out, what you thought of him and if you knew he was going to play the wierd stuff he plays today. Did he always play so strange? Also, play redshift riders when you come to cardiff please.

Hehe...I like Pole-Dancers...not poles that dance, ladies that dance round poles with tiny outfits on, that does not mean the ladies are tiny to match their outfits; they are of average height, only the outfits are tiny lol.
The song "Super Colossal" has me picturing the Motley Crue video for Girls, Girls, Girls for some really strange reason. I'm not objecting though...its nice.

Hmmm, that link didn't seem to work...it said the image was forbidden. Ah well, I know the car is so elusive its very annoying.
Picture 1
Picture 2
These are probably the best two images I could find, theyre not that good either lol..but I hope they hell.
Do you know where I could find the original painting that was used for Joe's "Donnie" guitars?

Satriella, yeah you told me about the car....not bad, being given a car!
Bonnie Raitt is a blues singer and slide-guitar player from Louisianna. She's awesome, she's got so much soul in her, she's got a gorgeous voice and a really nice sound to her playing.

Ok guys I need your opinion...I'm solely focussing on 7-strings at the moment and have my eye set on an Epiphone Flying V-7 string for £255...I've never seen a 7-string version of an Epiphone Flying-V and all the reviews I've read have said that this guitar is an excellent guitar to own.
However, seeing as I am having a tough time getting a job, im going on holiday and buying an additional 1GB of RAM for my computer I am thinking of selling my Standard Fender Telecaster which I got for £329 and hardly play anymore since the arrival of my Schecter 007 Elite which is just a guita orgasm...as it were.
Do you think I should go for it and sell my telecaster for around £280 as it is in excellent condition no dents, scratches or paint chips, practically new set of strings that have been played 3 times, if that and is in fully working condition?

Climber:
Your question: What mode is used in the 7th bar of the solo on Time Machine?
A: The “booming” orchestral notes behind that magnificent solo are D and Ab - so I’m pretty sure the solo is D Lydian (the Ab wouldn’t really work unless you phrased, or Joe was using, Lydian). I don’t have a guitar with me now and never actually learned that solo, I just listened to it a lot (hint). It’s the flat 5 (Ab) that really sticks out for me and when you use it (flat 5 or sharp 4) more often the sound will become instantly recognizable. The next part sounds like C Mixolydian – the key tone is the Bb. The D Lydian section is 16 bars.
I always recommend learning modes as they relate to a major scale. In other words concentrate on what notes are altered to give it its sound – in this case the 5 is flatted or the 4 is #. I don’t recommend the approach of saying that D Lydian is actually an A major scale starting and stopping on the 4th note. Your better off looking at it simply as a major scale with a sharp 4th.
Lydian formula = 1, 2, 3, #4, 5, 6, 7, 1
Ludian is notated as #4 because if you list the formula with a b5 you may actually play the 4 with it creating 1,2,3,4,b5,5,6,7 or flat the 5 and omit the natural 5th which is kinda needed with this scale - IMHO the formula above is the best way to "look at it". More importantly - listen for that #4. Some good chord choices are a Major 7th -since the Major 7th is 1,3,5,7 the raised fourth works well and actually sounds as good as the natural 4 or suspended 4th. Obviously Lydian is diatonic when used over the IV chord (major) and is usually always the scale for a maj7#11 chord.
In Time Machine the power move from D to a lower Ab provides a perfect context to just lay into a Lydian free for all. Mr. Satriani uses this scale, Phrygian and just about all the rest of the modes perfectly.
I'm listening to it again and pretty sure this is right - someone let me know if my ear is on break.
If Joe Satriani ever reads this, don’t kill me for very well having over explained this. Climber asked for the time and I built him a time machine – LOL

what's up... i hope everything's ok... you know G, La Rue was just not loud enough... back in ecuador i jammed with my church band on a regular basis, sometimes with my college band... i need to hear the bass, man!!! otherwise i get lost, right??? so, i like the bass being really loud, and this time it wasn't...
the thing is, not only that the bass wasn't that loud, the bass drum was incredibly high, at a point that it would hurt the mix... of course i could still hear everything, but not like i wanted to hear it you know....
another thing, i know dave can just turn the knob up a little bit, but maybe it'd totally mess up with the PA, don't you think??? in my experience, once you're done with your sound check, that's it... don't mess it up, don't turn anything up or down, cuz you'll mess up with everybody in your band... i know cuz i've done it!!! hahaha.... besides, there's no way for them to know if it's not loud enough...
what amazes me is that i read some reviews for the other shows and they complain about the same things... so i guess it wasn't the venue...
anyway, about my fingers... i guess they're used to the abuse, man... i played an acoustic for a long time before i switch to electric, so... i just can't get enough of satch's music, i can only play like one or two songs now, but i'm already working on like 6 more at the same time... there are so many techniques within that just for learning one phrase, you need a whole session on different exercises, so that's what i do, i play little pieces of each song... and maybe in a few weeks i'll nail them all, who knows... i just do it for fun, and cuz if u can play this music, you can pretty much play anything...
gotta go, have some 'midnight' to practice...

DelfinoPie still wondering about that riddle? God maybe? that's my frist guess, but I didn't put too much thought into it. anyway, that's funny about the pole dancers. I'm not really sure what it makes me visualize. something epic, or large, but not Joe walking around with a guitar, makes me think of something more meaningful. not sure though.
I love this album though. it's not my favorite, but it's definitely good. it's pretty mellow. which is good, but I was hoping for some hard stuff. maybe next album.
who thinks the next G3 should include Micheal Romeo and Sypmhony X ? I do! what a great idea!
