Ok, now I´m disappointed about two things in the JSX combo:
1.- it doesn't have the noise gate for each channel (crunch and ultra) separately. Both channels have to share the same noise gate.
2.- It costs much more than the JSX head.
3.- Where is that half power switch that Joe said
I´m hoping that maybe Peavey can release a 50 watts version of the JSX amp.
Or maybe I just should get the JSX head and use it with my Kustom III lead cab.
Let me hear your opinion guys about this combo

RE: BigBunny

I know what you mean about taking your time and letting album reveal itself to you. Standout tracks for me are "Hoist That Rag" "Sins of my Father" and the amazing spoken word "Circus". He reels off such strong imagery with the greatest of ease. Who else would sing about 'Horse-faced Ethel, bottle-feeding an Orangutang named Tripod...' : ) I know Vai is a huge Tom Waits fan. I was wondering if Joe was too...

Take it easy, Dev

Zenfish:First up,i,m waiting t get the Peavey,it really depends if work starts again or not this Feb,a little annoying cause what is saved for the amp i have t live off this month, however.I,ll be speaking to another friend, also a guitarist, who has a much better recording setup than me,he also has a Mesa Boogie & various other amps.i,ll keep y informed on how that works out, again i hope t meet him also at this Sundays jam session.

Sat:Eruption mood & Zenfish we,ll record for sure

Just to recap, there is no problem with you recording & jamming with all your pedals, bring em all! Its only for the Sun night jam sesh y,ll have t cut back as there is so many musicians t get up t play with little/no time t setup,no doubt leads, pedals etc get lost or go missing in the mayhem,i would love t bring my setup anywhere i go t jam but its just not feasable.Try cutting right back t 1or 2 pedals if poss. You probably wont be able t play eruption mood etc,but for a blues jam y should be ok.

Oh yeah Tura is my better half,my wife, sorry thought y knew, lol

Jazzzzzy:Yeah,I know a number of banjo players,In Scotland trad music is all over y like a rash, you cant escape it,i hated it as a child, apart from the new year when my parents house would fill out & the session really got goin,ha,little did i know in later years i,d play pro in a trad band, lol,so yeah i,ve come t know through the years unheard kings of bluegrass & trad music from England,Scotland,Eire & America & yes its great fun if you understand how to back any tunesmith,as they call themselfs,a simple jam sesh its equally as enjoyable if they have a knowledge how t back you. Also, if they have a good memory catalogue of tunes & great technique you can learn a hell of a lot in a single sitting. So yip well worth your time bro,go for it,if y find time, check out irish banjo wiz Jerry o,connor & be prepared, this mans no slouch when it comes to a pick!

listening today guys, surprise call from a friend last night

The Farting Gnome, ah, I have heard of Giants! Cool, I'll try and remember to check 'em out! I have such a poor memory for some things!

Those DVD's sound pretty cool. I can't really use ebay any more....I'm sort of in trouble with it, cause they reckon I owe them money and I reckon I don't owe them jack-sh*t, so that bridge is burned, so to speak! And yeah, the Chrome-Top Jem is pretty wild isn't it?!

mikesb, what do you reckon the chances are of Andy and Joe doing a surprise jam together?! That'd be cool!
jazzzzzy, hahaha, yeah my cat is squeezable! She's great. She's allowed out every morning until about 1pm, when we shut her inside. While she's out she hunts and you can't look at her, let alone stroke her or pick her up....it's like it damages her street cred! but after she's been shut in a while she will make a point of coming and finding you and then going through all the cute poses until you stroke her and tell her how adorable she is! It's hilarious, but we all find ourselves falling for it every time cause she's so squeezable! hehe. Cats are great man!

I hope the Nyquil works bro, sleep deprivation is not something you need! You're looking for maple? Hmmmm. No JS has been made with maple. If you really want maple, either stick with the strat, or get an Ernie-Ball guitar or a Washburn Nuno model. the Washburn would probably suit your metal-playing nicely and is solid as a rock, but the Ernie-Ball route would probably appeal more to the sensitive side! a Strat could do both if it's the right strat! take it easy dude!

civgeek, my advice would be don't think about the floral Jem or JS......you're absolutely right in saying the S is versatile which is exactly why it's the best option. I am thinking about part-exchanging my RG for an AT300. I will then have 3 guitars with the same body and the same H-s-s configuration, but it works really well and suits my needs better!
OCPS470, your recommendation of a Mahogany body helped pursuade me in getting the SA1260! And Yes, it is Mahog. It sounds excellent. The SA1260 seems to be quite a special guitar: Ibanez don't make many guitars any more with actual mahogany as the body wood. They also don't make many "prestige" guitar with an H-S-S configuration. in fact, the SA1260 is the only one. It's really cheap though.....the price of a low-mid-range S or RG, neither of which would get the Prestige Treatment. I still intend to put an Air Zone in the bridge position, and something Eric-Johnson-ish in the neck!

RE the RG, yes it's all lows and mids, despite putting decent pickups in there. I don't know.....I think mine feels structurally pretty good, it certainly has taken some trem-abuse, but the Lo TRS II bridge sucks. I think that has a bit to do with how fragile it can feel. I'll have to have a play and analyse it tho, cause I know I play the SA much harder, I dig into it really hard sometimes just to push the crunch sound a bit harder.

Big Bunny,

Not seen Shrek 2 yet. Heard that Tom had a song on the soundtrack though. His voice actually appears in the film? If so, then cool... Will definitely see it soon.

Could hardly believe the other night when I was watching Mystery Men (Ben Stiller, William H Macy, Janeane Garofalo) and this weird guy introduces himself to the 'superheroes'.. and it's TOM WAITS!! He plays a crackpot inventor in the movie. I nearly fell off my seat...

Do you like Mule Variations? That CD got me into Tom Waits, but I began to discover the real depth of his imagination with albums like The Black Rider and Bone Machine.. I still don't have his entire catalogue, but I'm getting there... : )

Take care, Dev

The most popular gay couple in America ~

SpongeBob and Patrick

Give me a mother effin break!

The hate and intolerance in the country just effin amazes me!

Let's get the attention off the REAL issues, and focus on a kids cartoon. How many 5 year olds are sitting around wondering if SpongeBob & Patrick are butt buddies? How many 10 year olds? NONE! It's the f*%#ing Christian conservatives (not all, settle down) who have dirty evil minds, then try to convince everyone they're right. It's amazing how religion is used to spread hate and fear. Just effin amazing.

Here's the news (right off Ibanezrules.com) about the new Chromed - JS2PRM - New for this year is the ultra limited 2PRM [I could not find out exactly what PRM stands for, but like the new JEM7B, probably something to do with Rock Mirror]. This is esentually the guitar Joe has been playing on tour for 2 years now, leaving his original JS2's at home in an effort to keep them in his possession. The basswood body is covered in aluminum which should prove to be a much more durable finish than all previous "chromeboy" attempts. This is not a catalog model so I'm going to assume it has Joe's current flavor of pickups, the FRED bridge and the PAF JOE neck, but Dimarzio has chromed the tops as they did the JEM10 and JS90's, although this is supposed to be a new process that is much more durable than the process used on those pickups. Only play time will tell. Added to this model [and I was told requested by Joe] is the phase switch to change the humbuckers to out of phase giving an even added tonal option to the already versatile JS. Abalone dots inlayed into slightly larger mirror dots and a headstock overlay like the one used on the Crystal Planet's but in chrome. Rumored to possibly come with a chromed case although that's many months from confirmation. Limited to 60 pieces worldwide with 38 coming to the US. $5329.99 List price, includes case.

New Chromeboy Then scroll to the bottom of the pagedown past Vai's chromed Jem to Joe's beauty...thar she blows!

Nice touch on the phase switch Joe, and thanks for making these available to us...wonder what retail will be....$3570.00?

Thanks michelle for the link.

hello all... hope everyone is well... guess what? i finally got signed up for guitar lessons and start on monday once a week, my instructors name is dave devine :) how perfect a stage name is that? :) anyway hopefully in about 187 years i will have a faint idea what all you guys talk about on this board... lol...

962- i checked out the pics of your cat, she is very cute! We once had a cat, bob, that looked remarkably similar to yours...

Michelle-i was once watching a special on the history channel about america and fast food and it said that "a long time ago" when sundae's where first introduced they were so popular and so good that church goers were convinced they had something to do with the devil and where therefore outlawed on sunday.... that is how they got their name... can you imagine food being so good as to scare others, pass laws, and be banned on gods day... strange strange strange... lol...

so last night i watched donnie darko for the first time and now i am all sorts of confused... ;) so i decide to check out websites to gain a little clarity on the last five minutes, come across donniedarko.com and it is this whole other set up where you need clues to advance and become part of the quest and are let in on some secrets, but none pertain to my questions.. lol... so now i am hooked on the website and getting more confused... :)

anyway... hope all in satchland have a great day and weekend....

Jazzzzy - I have one of each fretboard, maple and rosewood. The coolest thing about the maple is that it lookes like this after playing on it a while RG 560. People always comment that the giutar has been around a while because of the neck.

Michelle - I saw that story the other day also. I think NAMM wrote it. (just kidding NAMM) It's stupid. They don't even live together. But then maybe Patrick isn't ready for that level of committment. BTW No sweat on the email length. I wasn't doing anything between 2-4 yesterday anyhow. :) I think your perspective is right. Sometimes you just have to take a step back, then forward, then back, and now you're doing the Cha-cha!! I will tell you though being 600 miles away from my familia has been nice. The time we spend together is sacred and when the drama starts creeping into the visit, it is just about time to go home. Works great. Have a good one.

They showed adverts for "Grand Theft Auto 3" and "The Simpsons Hit and Run"...I filled about 9 pages of A4 lined paper (the lines being roughly 1cm wide)...At the moment I'm on't top of world...although I can hear my mom talking to my sister and I think my sister is upset over something...which is the worst feeling in the world.

Me and ma' drummer are trying to find a day when we can hijack the music rooms in college...we tried yesterday but he had a business exam, we were going to try today but there was a load of peoples stuff in there, then he suggested we try monday...but we both have an English exam monday for 3 hrs lol.

For those who are interested here is the Tsunami Relief Single... Yeah, I know it is the BG's site but you don't have to navigate, just open and listen... The single plays in its entirety after 10-15 seconds. There is a typical Gary Moore solo in the tune and his (Gary's) website shows photos of the gear he used if any gearheads are interested
