"its funny i thought you were a vietnam vetran for some reason ..lmao"

I figured that a lot of people did. I just played up to it when I first started posting here. I thought if I stuck around people would get to know more about me. I thought I would just let people develop their own assumptions. As Shakespeare said "What’s in a name? Would a rose by any other name not smell as sweet?" LMAO tooooooooooo!

JAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZY

"Join a bowling league if you are so interested once again in labeling people. "Plenty-o Liberal souls" You make me sick"

Welcome back. Take some aspirin along with some responsibility; your sickness will pass with your ability to grow up.

"The Surreal Life is on VH1 now - watch it if you dare!"

My brother had that show on the other day when Mini Me got drunk, came tooling out on his scooter naked and pissed in the corner. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. There is just something very wrong with that show!

"NAMM MAN, Sorry to disappoint. The Socrates story is NOT an attempt to propagate pinko pacifist propaganda (whoa, nice alliteration). .........Having said that, I think the primary and consistent tenet of the piece is that it is not always wise to shoot first and ask questions later….."

Exactly, so when you get around shallow people that do, Mr. Peart reminds us to put up barriers to keep ourselves intact.

To all Liberals, It's not wise to spend first and ask questions later......;-)

"I thought your original nick was in relation to Vietnam and service during that era. I think that was promulgated by a discussion we had with jazzzzzzzzy regarding service"

Yea I picked up on that, it was just kind of funny to get pegged as a Vietnam vet by the name I chose and the feelings and beliefs I have about the Iraq war. Some were quick to label me as a war criminal, so when it was all said and done I just got a chuckle out of it.

Cuth, Civgeek

There are a lot of guys that work really hard that subscribe to the misguided propaganda that the labor unions spew. I don't care if someone chooses to belong or not to a union. What frost my ass is when I have to pay an inflated price for their efforts or get picketed. I don't follow them to where they buy their lunch, and when they pull into a Blimpie or Quizno's get on a megaphone and start calling them a rat in front of everyone. Especially if my sandwich prices are higher than my competitor. That's just wrong. Our society is based on free enterprise. If you’ve got the stones to risk your future and go into business for yourself. Why should your costs be controlled by a bunch of greedy gangsters (besides the ones at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue that don't believe in tax cuts).

I have the right to post a job opening for what ever I think its worth and what ever I WANT to afford. I am not holding a gun to someone's head to take it.

hey joe hey guys

its been ages since i been i here so ive got a few things to say: Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Joe get well soon!

just a quick question:

does anybody know what van halens up to since theyre american tour finished in november? any news of a euro tour or a new album?

i got the new dream theater dvd live at budokan, its the best dvd ive ever seen. the set is fantastic. those guys are amazing.

speaking of dream theater, theyre guitarist john petrucci is releasing his first solo album in the very near future. the track listing has been posted to his website and some of the songs that he did on the G3 2001 tour are on there. its gonna be cool.

ive also got a whammy pedal. i just wanted to know what the setting is for the song crystal planet. im guessing its the shallow detune setting but im not sure.

also, the original members of cream are reuniting for four gigs at the royal albert hall in london.

also again.lol. i had the great honour of watching deep purple from right in front of the stage. i was almost in touching distance with steve morse.lol.

right so now ive bored you lot senseless, wots been happening satchland?lol

Zenfish- thank you again. When I was in my teens (quite a few years back now...) I got into a lot of rock and metal, and have never really stopped liking it, although I did also get into playing piano, and so started listening to loads of piano music. In the last 4 or 5 years though, I've really started listening to loads of my old albums, plus new ones added to the collection. I'm sad to say that although I did listen to the odd Van Halen track here and there, I never bought any of their albums, only a few singles. You have inspired me to correct this as soon as possible! Thanks for the advice about the albums too. I like your attitude about it's not about who is best, but about who does what- that is a great way of looking at things in general. Have a good evening! :-)

zinc master - i posted a similar question the other day... don't get an ipod...

ipods are for those who want something trendy and expensive over something cheaper and more functional... iriver make some good alternatives, as do rio karma. I've just ordered an iriver h120 - £199... what extra input do you need? the irivers are the cheapest/best ones that have line in inputs for recording... and also have digi ins... (and usb etc.)

Zenfish- I'm not a great improviser on the piano, baroque music is my main love. Then again, Bach was a great improviser! I love playing Scarlatti and Bach pieces, one day it is my dream to own a harpsichord, and who knows, even a clavichord! (Just call me "Data" from Star Trek!)

My knowledge of jazz and blues is somewhat sketchy, you may have noticed LOL!

Hey Joe, Just wanted to drop you a quick thank you for your performance at the Filmore Dec 26, 04. My Nephew and I met you backstage as part of the Platinum expereince, and you signed both of our Guitars (Mine was a black 1988 Ibenez 440 - my favorite axe, now retired and on display in my home). Dispite being so ill, you put on a fantastic show, and Cody and I will never forget it. That was my third time to see you (also Oct 1990 at Concord Pavilion and An Arco Arena New Years show in 91 or 92..) I have seen many many shows, but that show at the filmore was a musical experience of a lifetime, and one for which I am grateful to have expereinced. You are a class act, and in my opionion, someone who history should remember as one of the greatest musicians who ever lived. Congrats on a great show, and great career, and I hope your feeling better. Thanks Again. - Mark (fan since I first heard Not of this Earth in 1987)

Zenfish, to really understand Lukather you gotta see him live. It puts a somewhat different twist on things. I saw him last summer and have massive respect for him. Despite what everyone says about him and his playing, I rate him among the best. Lukes playing is really good and actually unique......people say he just rips off what Larry Carlton taught him, and he just shreds jazz modes all the time, but he does a whole lot more than that.
The Farting Gnome, happy new year, good to see you! Yeah I heard about the Cream reunion.....I personally don't think it's going to be that great.....i don't see how they can have the energy they used to have. Clapton just cruises these days, it's not often he breaks a sweat over what he's playing. We'll see tho!
keyofdminor, you'll get used to it, and then come to realise that this format of messageboard is way better than most, cause it's more personal! Joe's board rocks, and yeah, it is very different!

Jazzzzzzzzzzzzy, you are SO bad :) I'm fabulous, thanks for asking.....you might wonder why? Or maybe not, but I'll tell you anyway, just bought tickets to go see Joe in Ventura in April YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Can't go to the one in Vegas as it is 21+ and my son is 16 and would NEVER forgive me if I went to see Joe without him....so we're taking a looong trip to southern California!! I'm very excited!! I hope you get to go to the Vegas show!

Suzie, yep I'm good thanks, sounds like you are too! Good luck with your piano test, I'm sure you'll do great!

Steven, hey there, how are you today? Hopefully getting better all the time!

Bahduh, I got your e-mail and will reply later. I'm not too worried about my son, but being a parent, worry goes with the job!! All is well here, and I hope it is there for you too! Good to hear that Jordan is doing better, that's such a relief for you and your wife, I'm sure!

Michelle, funky family relationships..........I guess we've all got em. Doesn't make it any easier to deal with, I know, but you're not alone. Sometimes they get sorted out, sometimes not. My sister-in-law has managed to estrange herself, my brother and their grown son from our family for at least 20 years now....haven't seen her in all that time and they live in the same town!! Sigh.......can't pick our families, just gotta love em regardless, but don't have to tolerate crap! Sounds lke you have a healthy attitude about it all.

Oh Austin, paging Mr. Austin.............................. are you gonna be at any of the So Cali shows in April?

Mari, I see you're going to be at the Ventura show too....I'll keep my eyes out for ya!!

Good day to all.....it's lovely here today, sunny, cold and melting the snow and ice!

Hi Joe, hope you're feeling much, MUCH better by now! Have fun at NAMM, our favorite guitar store guy is going to be there from good old Klamath Falls. His name is Troy and he's such a kick!

Clarky Looking forward to hearing that solo for the album. We have big plans for it. You know SLANSH's nickname in his old band The Iron Horse (great band by the way) "Chordboy". I love it. I'm currently looking for good publishing of CDs in the UK and USA. Not gonna make $$ on this one but its gonna get out there at least one way or the other.

All the best - from a freezing, I'm staying home NY.

Cheese101- thanks, my exam isn't for about 6 weeks... mind you that is frighteningly not long! Must practise more... :-)

Zenfish, Goodnight to you too! Yes, I suppose EVH and Bach aren't too close in some ways! But I think they both have /had a lot of love for the music, and a lot of heart. I've not listened to Thelonious Monk - I do like loads of types of music, but as I said my knowledge of jazz and blues SUCKS!

Thanks for the thoughts, but my wife already got me an iPod for Christmas - so might as well keep it in good shape.

I need a good case for it.

What I do not like about the iPod is that you "should" convert your songs to their ACC format - which takes time and space (on your hard drive).

But, Apple does give at least 1 new song free each week - but they decide - so far nothing great, but it is nice to experience new and different music

Simpson's Daughter Charged With Fighting

MIAMI - O.J. Simpson's 19-year-old daughter was arrested after she refused to stop yelling at officers who had been summoned because of a fight outside a basketball game involving her old prep school, police said.

Sydney Simpson was charged Saturday with resisting arrest without violence, punishable by up to a year in jail, and disorderly conduct, which carries a possible 60-day jail sentence.

Simpson yelled profanities at the officers called to Ransom Everglades School after a boys' varsity basketball game against Gulliver Prep, according to a Miami police report. Sydney Simpson graduated from Gulliver last June, and her brother, Justin, 16, attends the school.

Officers asked Simpson to quiet down three times as a crowd of more than 15 people gathered, police said.

"Because of the defendant's disorderly conduct, it prevented this officer from conducting an investigation," according to the report by Officer Francisco Villarreal.

While she was being taken into custody, she slapped another officer's hand, leading to the resisting arrest charge, the report said.

Two teenage girls told police that Simpson hit them in the face, but they declined to press charges, authorities said.

Yale Galanter, a Simpson family attorney, said the dispute outside the game was a "cat fight" that Sydney Simpson had resolved by the time police arrived, but officers escalated the situation. He did not say what instigated the conflict, but said he believed Simpson acted appropriately.

"After the police were told that nobody wants to press charges ... Sydney is arrested for disorderly conduct?" Galanter said. "It doesn't take a legal genius or a great legal mind to figure out that the event was over and that it was the police who caused the charge to be had."

Asked to respond to Galanter's comment, police Lt. Bill Schwartz said: "For her safety and the safety of all concerned, the officers decided to remove her from the situation. Clearly this upset her even more, and she slapped one of the cops in the hand. Not a good idea."

Simpson is attending college in Boston. She signed a notice to appear at a date to be set later by court, Schwartz said.

Ok so the keyboard is...none-existant anymore or so it would seem.

On the upside the guy I wanted to be my drummer said he would as the band he is in at the moment is "no fun" and we are both equally wierd...

I'm jamming with his current band tomorrow hopefully if we are allowed to use one of very few music rooms in our school (its exam season and they like to close off all noisy things)

Take care y'all

962 - Do you have the DVD that he is advertising on his website ? He only plays one song on it ( Desert Rose ) but I have to get it...

Clarky - So you might actually give that title to the CD ( I'm too afraid to spell it out, it sounds too haunting). The Cook, The Thief... my god . I've seen that movie about ten years ago and I still keep thinking about it. You're missing out big time. ( Sex - yes; killing - yes).
