Mikel Thomas, Joe is saying "Matt is your dentist." He's referring to Matt Bissonette's fine dentistry skills.

Actually, the song is asking "WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE?" and the answer is I JUST WANNA ROCK!!

Here's the vid

and remember...buns of steel don't ship UPS!!

Nice Satch Boogie cover :-)

Do The Stu

Never got to see VR - wanted to, but our schedules never matched. I liked their music.

Never got into DMB though - too melow for me. Sounds nice, but not for me.

Does stink that they had to play after losing one of their musicians.

My memory of DMB is that their tour bus dumped its load on a Chicago bridge and into a boat underneath.

I swear, that is exactly what I thought he was saying "Matt is your dentist!" That is so funny. I checked out the video and of course it is awesome and Joe IS a regular guy. Being bald is a big part of his originality in the world of Rock Guitar Gods. I think the story goes that he was going bald and his wife/girlfriend said you might as well shave it, the rest is history. Please correct me if I am wrong on that...

Thanks for the props...

So sorry for all the people lost in the Madrid air crash and their relatives. Thoughts and prayers to them all

Igneousiceman - we did good, but yep shame about Wiggo & Cav. I doubt you jinxed him, but don't make a habit of hanging out with him too much lol. Cycling is obv your bag then? I want a Trek Madone, 2006 model, in team colours

Do The Stu - hey, nope, I'm not allowing day at the beach, or surfin, or anything water related like tears in the rain, a peice of liquid, etc : - p I just figure the oceans quite interesting & mysterious & therefore right up Joe's street so just curious (queue next album "Oceans of time"....)

Good point about the film work on X files series. I reckon I'll enjoy the new one. As for nerdiest movie thing I've ever done, I guess I can only count all three Star Wars (4-6) back to back when our local cinema ran it a few weeks after they finished running Jedi first time

The DMB concert must have been tough, sorry to hear that

Blue Moon - just go buy some then, and when you get back make yer laydees a sarnie or two

G'nite everyone

Here's the song I was talking about last night:

Dave Matthews Band - What Would You Say (8/28/06)

Have a listen if you'd like. LeRoi Moore takes his first solo at 2:43 and then he goes back and forth with Rashawn Ross, who's playing trumpet.

The tour looks like it's still a go, so I'm off to Staples Center for another show...

Watching the Aussie Alex Croak in diving, and just as she finished they played SUMMER SONG.

JOE, I do believe your tunes are the music of the 2008 summer olympics!

They played Summer Song after a fencing match the other night, so maybe it's just one tune, but WOO-HOO!

My husband heard a Petrucci tune the other night, but I'm not sure if it was on an Olympics commercial or after an event.

They should be playing Crowd Chant, Devil's Slide, and ATTACK also. Super Colossal would be cool too.

Well I took my guitar to GC and got it fixed, $25 for the setup and tutorial on how to adjust the springs, then I needed new strings so theres another $10, there was also and AMAZING SALE. 8 PACKS OF D'ADDARIO STRINGS FOR ONLY$19.99. Also since my other guitar had the cable come out from the front, i am used to sitting on my bed, my new guitar has the cable come out from the bottom, so I had to get a L shaped cable, so theres another $20, so I spent $80 in one trip, god you can spend alot of money there fast =D Al- I didn't get the Elixer strings, the guy there recommended the DR strings, AND THEY'RE BLACK STRINGS!!!!! SWEET!!!!!! and the tone of them are amazing, and I have 8 packs of D'addario left, I will eventually get the Elixer and Ernieballs and stuff, I need to try everything and see hwat I like, what size strings does Satch use? I got the .011-.049 EXL 115the blues/jazz rock ones whatever these are. So my guitar is better sounding than ever, so by breaking it, it now sounds better! so I have had a good week, except for the few guitarless days, so L8R >.<

Hey Joe, I was wondering if you can help me out. I bought this old guitar at a yard sale for 10 dollars and would like some info on it. It's a very old Sovereign. Are they worth anything or a great guitar? Down below is a link for a pic that looks exactly like mine. http://www.electric-guitars-guide.com/sovereign-electric-guitar.html Thanks Joe, AndrewJames

Hi Joe…..

I am sure people always ask you questions about your fingers and the condition of them and I know there are obviously problems that can accrue such as, Carpel tunnel, aches and pains, blisters…. Ext…ext…… But do you or have you ever suffered from back or shoulder pains due to all those years of standing on stage supporting your guitar around your neck?.

I seem to be suffering from aches and pains in my neck and shoulder muscles, I just want to know if that could be down to me not supporting my guitars the right way?..... or just a few bad night sleeps…..ha ha

Take Care, Dave

I heard the BB King song the Thrill is gone twice out of nowhere randomly yesterday was weird, still never heard Joe's songs in the olympics, and ive watched lots of it!? Is it the American coverage or in highlights that its added? i havnt heard it once!!

Gotta love the asians though!

The walking run race thing is on, they look ridiculous, and all the chicks have like no boobs... sucks

and DR strings are nice too, there more like da darios than elixers and last a reasonable amout of time too, Ive a black set on one of my strats here, a fun thing to do is get 2 different coloured sets and use half from each, it looks cool, ive pink and black here

Hi Joe, New Fan here. Love your music, I dont think there is one song Ive heard that I didnt like....

Can you give me some tips to writing songs... Most of the time I will come up with a chord progression/riff, but cant build on it.... I must have like 20 riffs written that are not finished, thus my talent is not getting demonstrated to other people.... any tips? I dont want to sit all day long trying to come up with something....

Also can you give me tips on writing modal music.... thanks.... I watched your Satch Zone video, the one where you talked about your influences etc.... I liked the improvising in the background so much, that it inspired me to write a song like that.... so far I have a begining, and as usually now I'm stuck.....

can you give me an explanation on some chords I can use for spacish Lydian sound.... Thanks Joe...

My begining progression is C5/D5 arpegiated... ( If this will help you answer the question...

Another question, why does Clydian sounds good over D5? If we play D5 and solo with Gscale wont that be mixolydian mode? So why does C5/D5 chord progression sounds good with C lydian?

Thanks Joe.... Keep Rocking and inspiring young minds to play guitar.... You're the reason I started learning modes in the first place.... Your music cannot be described in words....

P.S. Are you ever coming to WA, Seattle?

I would like to see you live so much....

Peter, your new fan!
