Hello Cheese101,
Those were a couple of great posts man... a few back about the concert an all! I really loved to hear how well Joe played, the interaction with the fans after shows and just the goofing around. It so nice to see him and the band having fun at what they do! Most of all you will never forget the experience... no matter how many you see Joe. He is so cool!!!
Thx,
Spizazz

Hi back Spizazz.... Yep, my son and I really loved these shows...the rubber chicken went flying quite a few times!! And at one point Matt threw something at Jeff, who tried to catch it in his mouth but missed. I was able to ask Matt later what it was that he threw, it was a bottle cap! Those guys are insane!! And at one point, during Hordes of Locusts, Matt goes over to Joe and................well, it's gonna be on the webcast and is hilarious, so won't spoil it for anyone! But yeah, it rocked!!

I hope you got to see at least one of these shows when Joe was back east...he may have changed it up some since then though. I just can't wait for the webcast! Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed my stories...there is so much more to these two nights of shows, but it's impossible to put it all down in mere words, other than to say, it was Joe and the guys at their finest!!

Ed, Steven & Randall were with Mari this weekend!! They went to see Joe!! No worries bro, they're having a waaaay better time than we are. lol! Mari flew out there yesterday morning I think. Steven will probably need some rest when he gets home, but hopefully he's just had the best weekend ever.

I'm 4 pages behind.

QUESTION, Is John Petrucci's new cd any good? Any other new cd's out that blow yer socks off?

Juju, so sorry about the extreme crappy weather you're having. A major snow storm - now???

Tracie, fantastic night you had. Hugs to you and sonny boy :) (edit: make that nightS) lol!

just catching up on posts thanks 962 aussieRGman, he uses a pen at meet and greets. Usually a black or silver magic marker.....it really depends on what you give him to sign it with. So yeah, use a black or silver marker, and then you need to find out what kind of lacquer you can use which won't make the pen run.

so if i wanted to put my sig on my guitar how should i do it, and where?

Thanks Stevee T, nice site mate, like the back ground music , that u playing?

petrucci_js BTW, does anyone know the name of the song that Joe played right after Always With...? I didn't recognize it, though it was incredible...maybe it was just a jam?? Joe did a lot of improvation stuff down under tour, was really cool just to hear him jam out on some songs

mjs99, love your stories

cheese101 glad u had fun with joe

BigBunny yeah gonna miss the band, but maybe they just wasnt the right people for me, maybe when the time is right Ill find the right band

Brother al any chance u could send me some clips of joe for the phone?

Michelle : as far as new CDs that knock your socks off, Corrosion of Conformity's new CD "In the Arms of God" not only knocks your socks off, it carries them 18 miles in the other direction and unravels them at the molecular level before utterly destroying them in the almighty Riff Machine.

I'd definitely get a 6-pack of socks before listening to it.

silent_shady BigBunny: hahahaha James rules!! He never should've stopped drining. now look what happend... pity I hope your joking about that man :) Jaymz is a better person off the beer - you can tell on SKOM at the end of the movie, he's way more comfortable in himself & talking about things with others. at the start of the movie - he's sitting there just stewing in his own juices........i can't say that Dr. Phil Towle was any good - i mean i'm sure he's helped MetallicA, which is cool. but for $40,000 a month!!

cheese101 And yes, you can cyber-slap me, cuz I know Oz waited a long time to see Joe back there! After the Anaheim show, at the meet and greet, I asked Joe how his trip to Australia went and his face just lit up with a huge smile, he loved it there and said everyone was so wonderful! So here's hoping you'll see him back there again soon! And go to as many concerts while he's there that you possibly can...I guess I figure I have at least 6-10 months to save up for the next round!

*THWACK!* there's the cyberslap ;D jking that's so cool you went to the Meet & Greet :) it's too bad Joe didn't get to play Metro City here in Perth - it's a bigger venue & therefore i wouldn't of been looking through people all the time, like i was in the 2nd half of the concert. I think it's great you're taking your son to see Joe :) how old is he, your son that is? ;)

P214 - I just ordered that album from Amazon.com :D I can't wait to hear it! COC are way better then Pantera, who they supported here in Oz back in '01. i also ordered BLS new one 'Mafia' & Mr. VAI's new one & another one of his called 'Mystery Tracks Archives Vol. 3'

just gotta wait now

Delfino, perhaps it's cause more people spend time shaggin in august/spetember-ish than they do at any other time of year.....I guess hot weather gets 'em going! haha. That's why there's more bithdays in march/april/may! hehe

Ovation1, thanks for heads-up on Pablo's new tour. Wow, he's actually got EUROPE on that list! What a nice surprise! Also, that photo of him with the three pointy guitars is wild.....where did he get himself a spacesuit?!?
Powerslave, yes I've spent a lot of time playing with different picks, trying to find what gives the best tone. I've been using Ibanez Paul Gilberts or Heavies (they're the same) a lot, until recently, when I went back to the Dunlop Jazz III's. I like these little jazz picks cause they're heavy, so you hardly have to put any effort in. Less effort and hard work lends itself to more control.
aussieRGman, sorry about your band problem. To be honest, that's completely their own assy fault/problem.....if they can't deal with you being late cause you had to look after your ill mother then they don't deserve any more of your time. Keep on rockin!

Regards signing guitars.....there's a few different approaches:

I took the scratchplate off my strat and took it to a G3 aftershow, and got a bunch of signatures on it.....it now hangs on the wall. I wrote the date on the back with the same black magic marker and tried lacquering it with some Humbrol spray that you use forplastic model kits. It smudged.....some orange pigment ran from the black, giving a nasty orange outer glow! hehe. Good thing I only did it on a test patch on the back of the scratchplate!

On my GIO (the blue one I finished customising a couple of weeks ago) I have written a japanese character on the black back cover which goes over the control cavity. That was done with silver fiber-tip marker.....it's a little smudgy cause it's on (matte) plastic, but after I left it to properly dry for 2 days, it has never rubbed off, and has no lacquer on it. Thing is, nobody can see it while you're playing it.

If you want your signature visible then you should find a piece of plastic a write on it with both silver and black markers, and the try out some lacquers. If you find one that dries and doesn't affect the pen ink at all, then tenderly edge towards the abyss, then dive right in and hope it's still smudge-free on when you write on your guitar!

A side note would be this - if you have a scratchplate, write it on there, cause they are easily replacable. If you do write on the scratchplate, take it off before doing it.

If you don't have a scratchplate and want to show off the signature, write on the headstock.....this way, when you apply lacquer, you only have to lacquer the headstock. If you write on the body, you'll have to evenly spray a coat of lacquer over the entire body, and that is not easy to do!

If I've forgotten anything, you'll probably get to hear about it in the next few days! haha. I don't think I have though. Hope that helps! :-)

962 Ah I see...makes sense, I was complainin to my mom about it, then she reminded me her birthday is the 19th of May...which is 2 days before another massive party for a girl I was talking to on Friday who invited me. This friday I'm going up broad street with my friends again. Then saturday it will be a nice comfortable night out down the pub again. Hopefully I can avoid spending too much though. I spent £1 last night and was bought 1 drink and 1 bag of nuts lol.

Me and my friend walked home sober and found a sign saying "Entrance To Ground"...so obviously we took it as we found it hilarious.

Take Care

michelle...I received John Petrucci's new CD about 2 weeks ago, and I've only listened to it twice. I think he's got soo much potential, and his chops are great, but, personally I'm not thrilled with JP's 1st solo effort.

aussieRGman...hope your feelin' better!

Powerslave, thanks for the good laugh. I needed it this morning. lol! I listened to some clips from the COC cd, and the 2 that hit me were Paranoid Opioid and Infinite War. I have one sock on, and one sock off (swear to God). Guess that means I need to listen to the whole cd instead of just 30 second clips. lol!

5 pages behind.

Things that are pissing me off this morning -

#1 - Wisconsin wants to start shooting stray cats to control the ferrel population that has gotten out of hand. - It's a shame we can't do that to stupid people who like to pass stupid laws.

#2 - Lifting the ban on silicone breast implants. - You gotta be kidding me? All of a sudden the reports of thousands upon thousands of woman who've had horrible health problem after getting silicone implants mean nothing? The leaking of silicone into a womans body is suddenly no big deal? I bet if we were implanting these things into men they would have been banned much sooner and bringing them back wouldn't even be a option. What strikes me as funny is that they say the silicone implants feel more natural. Natural???? What's so fucking natural about having two bags of toxic fluid inserted into your chest?? Gimme a break!

No offense to anyone here who has them. IMO, the ban shouldn't be lifted here in the US.

#3 - Waking up in a pissed off mood.

I shall now return you to your regularly scheduled happy program :)
