Mikesb: I liked that link a lot. However it has neither crunch nor tone. Well, that might have been Youtube's fault though. Carry on :)

Michelle - great news about Viv

Joseph - wow you've outdone yourself today with all the blue. Alas the nicecast thing didn't work for me the last time you did it but I'll follow Axe's tips and see about next time.

Peacey - good luck for your son? Is he inspired by the current Olympics?

Axe - thx for the tips. Fingers crossed.

My little Joey No. 2 turned 12 yesterday, was a lovely day and dinner (she got to write the menu) of entree - lemon chicken, main - pasta bolognese and dessert - chocolate cake with ice cream spiders - very interesting dining!

Hey Everyone!

WOOHOO!!! OH YEAH!!! Evan Lysacek won the gold in men's figure skating, by edging out Yevgeny Plushenko of Russia. It was really close and I thought Plushenko had it when he landed the quad. However, Lysacek's performance was way better. Gold for USA! Yes, Yes, Yes!

Skippygirl: Congrats to Torah Bright. We'll take the other two medals. ;-) BTW, Happy Birthday to your Joey.

Peace Lily: Best to your son's wrestling. Have a safe drive.

Joe: Great to see some blue. You by chance catching any of the Olympics?

Two more days until my 5K run (First Points Race of the FWTC Season). Five more days until I'm 25.

Grant

Thanks Skippy for the encouragement. I'm going to need it. This week (so far) has been a rough one.

Dream3: Check out the next episode of Survivor, when you have a chance. I missed it, but I heard what happened.

Massive Joe fan, but just got to say the DVD is terrible. I guess most people who watch Joe are guitar players who want to watch an in concert dvd to be amazed by the playing. It gaves you a taste of being there if you can't. Watching a series of videos is not the idea of a live in concert dvd. If you want to just hear the music and not see Joe playing, just but the CD! I have all of Joe's dvd's and this is the only one I have ever turned off on the first watch. I only made overdriver. I hope Joe has enough feeling for his fans to do a re-release of an un-altered concert dvd rom Paris. There are no two ways about it. This latest one is appalling. Sorry Joe.

Do people keep buying the LIP DVD just so they can have a moan about it?

On to Joe Bonamassa, a number of you have told me that he is good and I would like his RAH DVD, well you are wrong on both counts. Firstly he's great, and secondly I feckin love it. Thanks folks!

Cappy Steve: I'll 2nd your comments about Joe Bonamassa. I was lucky enough to catch him perform over 20 years ago when he was only 12 years old. Been following him ever since. Somehow he just keeps on getting better (Live @ Royal Albert Hall is is best yet imho). His new CD "Black Rock" comes out next month (the 23rd). If you pre-order it, they'll ship it to you 2 weeks earlier. Needless to say, I already pre-ordered it and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. If you're interested in it check out Black Rock CD. Free shipping too on all pre-orders.

He's also at work on a new project with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, & Derek Sherinian, called (as of now) "Black Country" ~ named after the area where Bonham & Hughes grew up. That one is supposed to be out around September of this year.

Things are looking up for Smokin' Joe! Now I'd like to see him tour with the next G3.

Cappy Steve: I think people buy the LIP DVD not so that they can moan, but because thay are real Satriani enthusiasts hoping against all hope that they won't find it to be as bad as they've heard. They buy it because they buy EVERYTHING of Joe's in support of him as a person and an artist, and they speak their mind about their disappointment knowing that Joe sincerely appreciates fan feedback and is a big enough man to take it.

I sadly have to agree with AWG5150. The DVD could have been much better with out all the artsy effects. sorry Joe - Luv ya, but it's how many feel.

Cyber alien - Thanks for the linky.

Minimoog - Not quite sure why you felt the need to be personal but go for it girl! I'm also not sure why you think i'm not man enough to take criticism that's not aimed at me, wierd. I presume you think of yourself as one of the 'real fans' you refer to, well 'fan' is short for fanatic, which means excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion. Note the word uncritical. Have a nice day not watching the DVD you don't like but felt you had to buy.

sorry cap. I just think if someone doesn't like something, they should be able to say so without getting the "Stop moaning" speech. You're quite right about the word fan, of course. It is much over-used and perhaps I should have chosen a better word: enthusiast? I regret making it personal. I just wish people didn't get all defensive of Joe. He's just a man. If something Sux - it sux.

LIP DVD sux.

You don't agree?

PS I edited my earlier post - It was indeed rude. I also edited "fan" for clarification.

It's not ALL about the video and effects, its about the music. Some of the effects were good like on "Ghosts". Those went well with the music. They should only stick to the effects on the fast songs like Summer Song and One Big Rush. But the spinning gears on Cryin' kinda annoyed because they didn't make any sense and they were taking up the entire screen most of the time. And those weird lights on Always With me, Always With You were also annoying because the emotion of the song is good enough to add its own effect. But we all know that Joe likes those otherworldly effects and he likes to experiment. Every body remembers his Professor Satchafunkilus podcasts. Did those annoy you too? The DVD is for listening to music and enjoying because Joe always makes nice improvs of his music to spice it up and make it live.

On LIP, the music is fine, as a CD you can really only question the song selection, performance and sound are great......

With DVD comes the ability to give fans a choice of viewing options. The ability, for instance, to select camera angle. They could have done an effects on/off option as well. I appreciate that Joe was just trying to give fans in absentia a taste of the screen experience from the show. The intent was good. It just detracted from the DVD in my opinion. Blu- ray would also have been nice.
