A friend of mine was robbed yesterday in the parking lot of a grocery store. As she got out of her car a man walked up and demanded her money. Luckily she didn't have any; planning to get money from the ATM at the store. So he reached into her car, stole her sons new game and her collection of Satch cd's.

What total scum.

Thankfully she was alright but she is now Satchless. What a crazy messed up world we live in.

Stu not Boo, I think you made a little error, John Myung was not the bassist for LTE, it was Tony Levin, but DT's keyboard player jordan Rudess was on the project,

XCrystalPlanetX - I know what you mean about the MG series - i personally always hated them, ugly harmonics when you have distortion on... Valvestate's are certainly a step up, I used to have a VS30R and it has got a really nice sound.. not many, just one really, but the higher models will be better, I know the 65 watter is. So if you can find a VS100R you'll prbably get it fairly cheap as they've been discontinued to make way for Marshall's AVT (advanced valvestate technology) amps. Valvestate certainly is a step up from MG.

I thought someone said that Joe was going to play at the World Series game last night!?!!?! I watched until it was over, at about 12:10 am here in Atlanta. I wish he had. He would've made it better. I'm routing for the Giants because I want Barry Bonds to win one. He has been deserving this for his whole career!! :-D

TO ALL SATCH FANS check out www.chellee.com it is a site for Peter Taylor, one of the most talented young luthiers. He does all the work on my guitars, and he creates gorgeous custom axes that are ridiculously affordable for the quality.

tapper - based upon our e-mail exchanges I could see that you was so very close to getting this... now that you have you'll note that the 'math' is really not such a big deal... the big deal is the act of creation that all of this stuff makes available.

Knowing more than you can play is not such a strange thing...
work from the 'top' down...
train the mind - learn what is available and how it works so you can explore the options by putting pen to paper... this gets you thinking and understanding...
train the hands - go find this stuff on the neck... explore the options and listen to the results... this is where all that you understand becomes applied...
exploit with the soul - you know how and why things work... you can find it on the neck... it is now time to turn all of this over to your imagination and creative element... this is where studying the theories and studying the neck pay you back... your creative paint box now contains all kind of new textures and colours.......

time to enjoy....lol

JBlaze - lol... lol... throw down the gauntlet... lol

All your sheep are bah bah bah to us... lol

Karthak - If I had a time machine, one of the times I'd go to would be 73 and to the gig where Howe cut Yours Is No Disgrace on Yessongs.... not a shred in sight but it's a real handful to play and in my opinion one of the finest solos every recorded - which is quite an opinion when coming from a mindless shredder such as I...lol Seriously though... the solo grows... it's compositional using and reworking many themes... and improvised... a masterpiece..
michelle - tip #3: women want equality... but where they are a little more equal than everyone else...lol
JSC - I train with weights 3-4 times a week... beyond my hands/forearms sometimes getting tired I've never really had a problem - beyond the odd occasion where dipstick here thinks he's superman and does a set too many with too many kilos... but that hurts all over... lol
ha ha ha ..... Avarice is back and proud....... lol lol

khakicoalition sorry to hear that news. That guy surely is a scumbag!
XCPX I'm not quite satisfied with my amp's dist either. I was when i bought it a few years back (of course I didn't have a clue what I was doing too). I use pedals for my dist sound (Fulldrive 2, DS1, OD1). I really can't afford to upgrade my amp right now -I'm looking at the Marshall tube series :) -because I'm trying to save up for a JS1000. for things are pretty hefty money-wise. You should try Harmony-central. It's a site where customers review instruments and stuff. the above link should take you to the Marshall amp section.
