hmmm... wanted to do a "Today's Award For Pitch Axis" but I'm stuck..... 1st place comes Not Of This Earth. It's the defiining pitch axis track IMHO, considering when it appeared (and shocked my ears!)... second comes With Jupiter In Mind, excellent change in the bassline to reflect the key changes over the constant tonal root... and 3rd comes The Riddle... practically the same bass line for the entire track, based on two identical notes (OK so they're an octave apart)... but man, so many mood & feel changes in those 6:25 minutes! Joe you did something very right! Keep it up!

Hello Keniko,
Haven't talked to ya in a while.
I wanted to let you know that if you are in the area or can come to the Kane County Cougars game on Staurday July 2n'd, I will be playing the National Anthem. I'd love to get to meet you and talk.
It should be a great time... over 50 people, friends and family are expeceted to come. I'm thrilled about the event and owe a lot of inspiration to Joe! You see I started playing his stuff way back when, then learned the NA and when I saw him play it for a playoff game, wanted to give it a try. Well after many years of determination I finally alned the gig. Thank you Joe for paving the way for us want to bes!
Hope you can make it... if not I will have a little video from the event on my website. Please check it out when you get a chance. I have a lot of new photos too.
Take care and hope to see you!

hey joe, hey guys

wow its been a while since ibeen in here. i realy should drop by more often.

just to say the webcast was awesum, that would make one hell of a DVD.

962- i know ur into toto, are you goin to see steve lukathers solo band over here in two days? i cant wait!!!!!lol.

im a bit ticked off coz i wanted to see motley crue on their UK tour and my two friends pussied out, i never got to see the gig.

im gonna make up for it by seeing Steve Vai, Dream Theater, Alice Cooper and Sammy Hagar all by the end of this year, lol.

check out www.eddievanhalen.com, theres an awesum interview on there which is very recent(may), its really cool.

im still waiting for my EJ Bloom album to come, is it any good?

Peace, Love and Party On!

PhryDom, haha, the way you worded that had me so confused! I was thinking "when did Joe ever write a track called The Riddle?". So, of course, I'm now listening to said track and listening to the pitch-axis......damn this is complex! I love the bit just after 2:30 when he hits the synth (I guess he's using the eventide or something) and it briefly sounds very bluesy.
The Farting Gnome, yeah I'm going to see Lukather at the Mean Fiddler on thursday! I can't wait man, it's gonna be a blast! Also, I'm still waiting for my copy of "Bloom" to arrive.....musictoday said "4-6 weeks". Oh, maybe they said 2-4. I can't remember. Anyway, I'm starting to get fidgety. I also ordered an Andy Timmons T-shirt and tab for Electric Gypsy, so I'm eagerly awaiting that too! hehe, all this excitement in one week, preceeding a trip to Holland to see Dr Vai!

ahh yeah, sorry about that 962! lol that sound you mention sounds like the Eventide to me... I've never tried to analyse a Steve track, but the opening section(s) of the song are definitely E Lydian... then he goes a bit mad lol... I'm sure without all the production & wonderfully weird noises it's pretty simple though.... and that scream at 4:13... makes the hairs on my arms stick up... yes I know there's a cat mixed in with the guitar! lol
