well things have been busy here... went to michigan for a little over a week for my brothers wedding (i am not sure how you michigan, illinois, indiana people put up with the 98 degrees and humidity to match!) came back to denver and traded in my jeep and got a new car(mazda6 05 sport i).... Love it! and one of the things that sold me on it was the bose system.... So much fun listening to all my cds in the car... goes to get tinted on tuesday and then will be perfect... YEAH!

anyway, about to start midterms.... yuck.... hope that everyone in Satchland has a good and safe weekend! Happy Independence day to those applicable :)

slanshroom.....I could'nt possibly agree more.

Everyone have a safe and happy 4th !

We got to our gig last night and found out we were playing outside...not good ...because I knew when the sun started going down the mosquito's would begin their assault. Needless to say, I had them on my knuckles while I was trying to play...it sucked. And then the cops showed up and said the neighbors were starting to complain, so we had to quit at midnight. On the brighter side I got $110 for a mere 2 and a half hours of playing ;) Peace, SD

P.S. If someone would pay for my airfare to Washington DC....I would give George W. the worst wedgie he ever had.

Naty, Gilmour has the most beautiful voice :) Those 2 bands are true ICONS in the rock world. Absolutely brilliant!

brother al, do you still love us all? lmao!

juju, thanks for the "no braids for Duane" vote. LOL! He's looking quite nice these days with his fluffy little doo.

slan, agreed. It's all about to get very ugly now.

SupaaDave, I'll start the "Wedgie For Washington" campaign by giving you the first donation of $19.64. If we all contribute the amount of the year we were born, the youngin's will bear (bare?) the birden - just like it is in real life. LOL! The older ones would actually have it easier. Imagine that?

Hello everybody!!!

It's a warm summer evening here in Finland, hope everything is allright with all you beautiful people! ...yeah, yeah, I haven't been around for a while, but hey; here I am now, heads up!

At first: Thank you Joe for this excellent show in Anaheim (the webcast) !!! ...Austin, you did a good job talking with The Man for all of us !

New musical concuests (for me): "probot" and music from the motion picture "Queen of the Damned". Both are some metallic collections of various artists; excellent stuff !!

...then the big waking up; check out this band that I just found: "SYSTEM OF A DOWN". Perhaps their lyrics are a bit correcting for you Americans, but musically these guys ROCK...and they roll, too !

Everybody, have a nice day with yourselves and others ;-)

Joe, just wanted to say THANK YOU for the awesome show you treated us to in Michigan last year. I just joined your fan club so this is the first chance I got to write ya. It was at the Mich. State theater in Ann Arbor & you played for like 3hrs. I think. You played all the classics plus a ton of deeper cuts. I couldn't believe it when you came out without a warmup band & just sat up there & jammed for 3hrs. Anyway thanks & I hope you come back around in '05 or early '06. Dave.

Something i'll never understand: why does Michael Stipe paint his face like that??

My god.... Pink Floyd.... I hope they do a few more shows because they had me spellbound for all 4 songs I sat on my couch in amazment - they actually made me sit up as well (and that takes something special :-P). If they do more shows I would definitely go see them.

Wow.

Zen - that's an interesting obsrvation regarding SRV and Malmsteen....
Iguess you could be right... yeah.. their styles are different..

but they both play with absolute conviction....

to me that is beyand any doubt..

What is the classical nature of shred?????
very interesting question......

most folks won't like my answer.....
90% of all shredding is completely unrelated to classical music - including Malmsteen..........

Baroque / Classical music are 'compositional'
Shred is largely improvisational

most shredders charge up and down harmonic minor scales over chord V7

that single item does not constitute noe-classicism.. lmao..

Live 8 - interesting that all of the real African artists that were invited to play in the UK were planted on stage in the middle of nowhere....
just been to see War of the Worlds....

pretty entertaining stuff overall....

but the plot had more holes than a whore-house...

Big Mike thank you!!!! I saw NONE of Live8, and now can concur with Naty & Mom that Comfortably Numb's solo was indeed damn fine... I'll watch it again later / domani....
El Clarkio and if it wasn't for HRH Peter Gabriel even that wouldn't have happened... Sir Bob never even gave them a thought, apparently :-|
I've suddenly started to question myself, having never been a Floyd / Gilmour fan.... who needs a Floyd Rose? Who needs 24 (or even 22! lol) frets when you can play like that? For that matter who needs humbuckers?!?! I guess the saying is "it just goes to show"... but in this case I'm not sure exactly what it is that it goes to show, if you know what I mean lol
Meanwhile in other news today I saw the best thunderstorm I've ever seen in my life. And it didn't come from Dreamworks (tm). The storm was HUGE, I saw it moving slowly across the sky towards me, and for over an hour there were plenty of flashes, lots of big bangs, but NO RAIN! The sky was like dusk... then all of a sudden the rain started coming down practically effing sideways! The rain was washing up and down the street at the same time! It was so cool.... and sadly less than an hour later the roads & pavements (oops, sorry, sidewalks) were once again dry, the mossies were out in full force, and the heat & humidity sucked the big one.... oh and my computer died pretty badly.... almost had to reinstall windows - the lightning had corrupted my pagefile!
Laters.... me

I watched most of the Live 8 show for Canada, it wasnt that great. The coverage that CTV had was pathetic. They showed one freaking Pink Floyd song, Money and that was it. Yet they played all the Madonna songs and 2 songs by Will Smith and some crap by The Killers who were garbage. I am so mad at them for that. I missed Dave Matthews Band, Muse, The Who (only saw one song) and the full Pink Floyd stuff which were the reasons I was really watching it, those are some of my fav bands. I should write to CTV and give them hell for such pathetic coverage. I also didnt get to see Motley Crue or The Barenaked Ladies at the Canada show cause I was out, missed some other good ones like Sam Roberts too. It was ok for what I saw, having whiners like Simple Plan at a rock concert is just plain wrong and stupid, they have no talent.
