Dragonchild: (I don't have that album, but I've heard bits of some songs on-line) is there a line in that song that says "@#%$ yourself with the world-wide-web..."? I'm sure I heard that. If so, when was that song recorded because I've been told (at uni) that the www was invented early 90s.

Confusing.

Artanis Good point there. I checked the booklet from the copy I have, and it seems that the song was written in 1982 but not released until 1998. It wasn't included in the original release either, but added to the 1998 release, so maybe it isn't such a far-fetched idea that he added that line as well (to make it more update?). The line you're thinking of goes like this:

Fuck yourself with the world wide web Man you could ride that sucker right from your bed You may even meet a Tom, Dick, Jane or Billy So grab onto your modem and fuck yourself silly

Artanis I Sinatra....yeah..seems like we coming back everyone=everyone else again :P

the vai song - #?@! yourself...i have the album...this is what he wrote in the abkum bookelt

Ah, you didn't think i had it in mr. Well, i did in 1982. It took me 16 years ti release this one. There is a line in this song that may seem insulting to the american legal profession, well, like any field work I believe there are inspired good people who know their trade and there are also some wretched crooks......The song is meant to be funny anyway...ya' know.

the www lines are -

#?@! yourslef with the worldwide web man you could ride that sucker right from your bed you may even meet a tom, dick, jane or billy then grab onto your modem and #?@! yourself silly

genius song :)

edit - dragonchild..beat me to it by a minute or so...

no, syd's name is syd, but he goes by roger (his middle name, i think) now 'cause he wants his anonymity and all lack of association with pink floyd.

Do the Stu - thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

For the opener, I gotta go with Flying in a Blue Dream. There's no better opener than that.

Hello people

Anyone got any advice on irregular groupings of notes? When counting out a bar of music I can do the 1/8 notes easily and 1/16 notes easy enough. triplets and sextuplets? (6s) are again easy but when it comes to groups of 5 I just dont seem to be able to count them?

Any suggestions anyone?

Hope everyone is ok!

Olly

Fusion Thanks for the link man, I've seen that RC clip before but after you watch his Jemfest clips you kinda lose the memory of anything but the speed angle of his playing.

Drummers ? Omar Hakim, Phil Collins and Billy Cobham are a few who get overlooked by the 'rock' fraternity especially Hakim, man he's infectious............

Dave How's it going man ? Still looking bright-ish ?

Hey all, Sorry long time no post. Had to catch up on all the insanity going on here! Skipped a page or two- sorry guys! Thought I'd never get here. Add my vote for FC7 (I think we are nearly equal now!!!). Story time:

Went to guitar shop for a cable, all my old 'uns are a bit crappy, so thought I'd go for a Planet Waves (they are fantastic, incidentally). However, in guitar shop and thought "ooh, I'll have a play with some toys while I'm here...". End result, walked out with a new Vox wah, and free PW cable!!! "My girlfriend's gonna kill me.....!!!!"- decided to soften the blow by finishing off "Snow Angel", and adding some new sparkly vox wah tones to the harmony guitar. Sounds good, she loves it, all happy. Tried one of those q-series Crybabies, but they don't cut it c.f. the Vox... Moral of story, if you go to a guitar shop to buy bits, don't decide to play with new shiny toys- you'll leave with one!!!

So, SOTD (for me & everyone at work) me own, "Snow Angel" deedededeeeeledeeeldeeeee...... .......and "G3 4 UK!!!!!"

Best opening song? Hmmm, it would have to be a tie between Cool #9 and Time. Cool #9 reels you in nice & slow before it blows you away, and time kicks my butt every time, so it's hard to choose.

On a sad note, today is the second anniversary of the passing of my nieces husband, Bryan. I'll take this moment as an opportunity to once again to say don't drink and drive.

I think it'a also 2 years since Joe broke his toe(s). Hope it healed up nicely and you have no problems with it Joe.

And now, more famous words from George Carlin:

"As you swim the river of life, do the breast stroke. It helps to clear the turds from your path."

Hey Joe,

Looking forward to seeing you and Steve again in Seattle. Never miss a show and I definitely wasn't going to miss this one. The $83.00 ticket price crunched the ol' pocket a little but I guess thats just a sign of the times with inflation and all. The show will rock and you guys will be outa this world as usual!! I cant wait!!!! :-)

Michelle RIP Bryan, we've all done stupid things in our youth, unfortunately some people have to pay the price. I'll second your comment and add that it may not be you that gets hurt, my friends mother was crippled for life by a drunk driver. All actions = consequences, think about how your actions effect other people, not just how they effect you.

Cool#9 is a classic opener. Just listen to G3.

anuj I read that roger was syd's middle name on a pink floyd video interview cd cover under "facts you didn't know". Perhaps he started using his middle name syd in the band to differentiate from roger waters, and has now changed back again for the purposes of anonymity?

fretslayer The Extremist is my favourite Joe album.

jelly man Sometimes, I don't listen to P&W and think, "do I really like it anymore?" I then give it a spin, and realise how much it is just my favourite album ever, and become a P&W freak for another few months. It is just amazing.

greg m - this was really the first time I realised how good it was, I shan't forget though... there were always tracks I loved like Ballerina, Answers and the audience is listening (ph, and sisters), I just never loved the whole thing. Thought there were too many silly noises in it (eg. alien water kiss). That's still pretty much silly noise to me, but the rest is great.

As far as Satch openers go, I vote cool #9, which means they're all on a mere 1, apart from the brilliant cool #9 which flies out into the lead with 2.

damn Ethn, you've started a doozy!

well... Cool No. 9 of G3 is killer,
Time is always awesome, but I don't like the live version as much as I like other "lives"...
Ice 9 I just don't see as a great opener. Great song, not an opener for me though.
I think I'm w/ Boyd on this one...
Not of This Earth just makes such a killer opener.

They're all great of course, but NOTE takes the taco (à la BIll Murray in Ghost Busters)
