Good morning Satchland !

Our fearless president has chosen Harriet Miers to succeed Sandra Day O' Connor on the Supreme Court. Sounds like she's very qualified for the job. I have to mention though that I've never laughed so hard in my life at seven o' clock in the morning after I heard this woman say on live television, that George Bush is "One of the most brilliant men I've met in my life".....LMAO ! ! Apparently she has'nt met very many men, which would also explain why she is'nt married. Also, I learned today that you don't have to be a judge to be on the supreme court. In fact 27 former nominees for the SC had no experience as an actual judge. Whazzup with that?

John Mellencamp will perform at the first of this year's two Bridge School benefit concerts. The Neil Young-organized shows will take place Oct. 29-30 in Mountain View, Calif. Mellencamp then intends to spend much of the following month in New York collaborating with horror writer Stephen King on their long-in-the-works musical play, The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. The production will tell the story of a pair of siblings whose family has a murderous past.

Q&A: NIKKI SIXX

Part One

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - It is 2:30 in the afternoon and Motley Crue bass player Nikki Sixx is just getting up. He lights his first cigarette of the day. Telephones are ringing in the background.

Sixx says that, in general, his life is loud, though he is not complaining. In fact, he is psyched that Motley Crue's comeback tour is proving scores of rock 'n' roll naysayers wrong by grossing $19 million through the first half of the year, according to Billboard Boxscore. In addition, a new two-disc greatest-hits collection, "Red, White & Crue" (Motley/Beyond), has reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200, selling 425,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Though Motley Crue has had its share of lineup changes, drug scares and scandals in its almost 25-year career, the act is demonstrating that it has a strong business sense.

The current tour -- which features original members Sixx, vocalist Vince Neil, guitarist Mick Mars and drummer Tommy Lee -- was so popular in its first leg this spring that the group announced an additional 57 North American arena and amphitheater dates. That brings its number of tour stops this year domestically and abroad to more than 100.

Sixx says music fans want shows featuring more theatricality, which Motley Crue delivers with a circus-tent set, pyrotechnics galore, a fire-breathing midget and aerialists, on top of such hits as "Girls Girls Girls" and "Dr. Feelgood."

The shows have spawned a two-disc, high-definition DVD set, "Carnival of Sins," due October 25 from Clear Channel/Ventura. It will be the band's first DVD with its original lineup.

Q: Why did the band come together for the reunion tour?

A: Over five years ago, we said, "We've been doing this for a long time. Let's just take a break." It was time to get everybody's schedules cleared and get back to the mother ship, so to speak. ... The core of it was, we either want to do it or we don't want to do it. Once we got to that place, it sort of took on a life of its own.

Q: Did you expect the tour to be so successful?

A: None of us had a crystal ball. We knew the band would have an insane show. When tickets went on sale, would it be 1,000 or 2,000 people, or the numbers that it ended up being? We didn't know. We were blown away. I forget what the first date was, but Madison Square Garden was one of the earlier ones. The band's never been over-the-top huge on the East Coast, and some of those first shows went clean (sold out) in a very short amount of time.

Q: What did you do when promoters originally were not interested?

A: A lot of the promoters didn't jump onboard. We rented the buildings ourselves. So, later, when they wanted us to come back, we said, "Well, it's going to cost you, because we just made all the money and why would we give any to you now?"

If we did what everybody said we should do, we would have had a technology-driven, sort of clean, safe, PC rock show. That's just not who we are. Our show is over the top, and our banter is over the top.

Q&A: NIKKI SIXX

Part TWO

Q: What has changed in the industry since you last toured as a band?

A: One of the first things I noticed is, all the people that were hired on as our crew or (for) the overall project said, "Oh, my God, I've been so bored for the last 10 years. I am so excited to be on a Motley Crue tour." We were like, "What do you mean?" They were like, "Dude, we've been out doing these safe tours." We met with pyro companies and said, "OK, we want to blow the bass player up, we want the drummer to fly, drums to explode in the air," and everybody is like, "Thank you." We're like, "What are you talking about?" They go, "Well, you know, the last 10 years we've been doing tours, and for the grand finale bands would say, 'OK, we want some sparks.' You guys in one song have more than 10 bands have in their show."

Q: When did you decide to do a DVD based on the tour?

A: We knew once we got out on the road and people said it's one of the best rock shows they've ever seen that it was something that needed to be documented.

Q: How involved were you in the creative process for the

DVD?

A: We're involved in everything, all the way down to what our luggage tags look like. We drive people crazy. We are so thorough.

Q: What's going on with the movie based on the band bio "The Dirt?"

A: We had David Fincher ("Seven," "Fight Club," "Panic Room") to be the director, but Paramount needed him to do a very huge movie and wanted us to wait. In the meantime, we are now meeting with other directors. It will get made, and it will get made right. The project has to be gritty. It's going to be like "Goodfellas," the feeling of "Layer Cake." It's going to have an underbelly to it.

Q: What's next for the band?

A: We're here to destroy the world like we were in the beginning. February, we go back out. We're going to play small markets that rock bands don't usually go to, and then we'll make a record after that. Brand new. What it'll sound like, I don't know. I still don't have a crystal ball.

mikesb...seeig though Greg has tried some of my arsenal...I can't wait for him to check teh JS 10th Chromeboy out...!

Considering the guitarist's who endorse Ibanez....I've never conisdered Ibanez a world class instrument...always a Gibson 24-34" scale guy.....Now I can truely say Ibanez is a world class instrument...this Chromeboy is amazing so low, and still bend without choking...the sustain like a Travis Bean (which is more than a Les Paul). It is freakin' uncanny how it almost plays itself....mid + bass notes clear...not muddy...custom Joe Satriani / Steve Blucher Dimarzio's wow....there's not enough time in the day for this guitar!!!

Push Americans to cut energy use

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With U.S. heating fuel bills expected to soar this winter, the Bush administration on Monday will unveil a national campaign to show households, businesses and the federal government how to save energy and reduce their heating expenses.

The government has warned Americans to get ready for higher heating fuel bills this winter, due in part to the shutdown of oil refineries and natural gas processing plants and the disruption in oil and natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico caused by Hurricanes Rita and Katrina.

For consumers who warm their homes with natural gas, their winter costs would be 52 percent higher nationally from last year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

The Energy Department's analytical arm forecast heating oil expenses would rise 34 percent and electricity bills would be up 11 percent.

U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman and the Alliance to Save Energy consumer group will announce a joint program on Monday to encourage Americans to cut back their energy usage and shave their heating bills.

In three new radio public service announcements, Bodman will convey the message that consumers "have the power" to manage their energy bills and use energy efficiency to ease "the pinch of high energy prices." The ads cover home heating, gasoline and the purchase of energy-efficient appliances with the ENERGY STAR label.

One radio spot also encourages consumers to install sufficient insulation in their homes and use a programmable thermostat to lower winter heating bills.

Suzie2000......Try and pretend it's Tues. It could work. I'm for Tues thru Fri 10 hr a day work week. You always need that extra day.

Cheese...... Sounds like you had a great time. I'm glad you got to meet and talk to Joe and got home safe. Did Joe mention or did you ask about the new CD? Just curious. I know he was busy with the Nascar soundtrack. Post the pics when you get a chance. Take care.

Michelle..... Great talkin' with ya in the chat. I was on Cindy's lap top outside by the fire. I couldn't see shit when typing. Sorry. It was fun while it lasted. Take care.

T2JCD......I'm excited the CD will be finished soon. Kudos to all who worked so hard for the project. I'm sad about the fighting and really don't know much about what went wrong. From the posts I've read you clearly have a right to be pissed. But I'm thinking if there are disputes surrounding the project maybe you guys should keep it private and not post the problems on T2J. I know this is an open forum....and you guys were posting the rebutals to Trutina's post. I'm also thinking if Joe hears what's going on he my just say NO MORE T2J CD'S. That would be a huge loss and what would Joe think of us then. His Fans who love and repect him so much. The T2J CD is a tribute to Joe and a great idea that gives wonderful exposure to the musicians. We're all here because of Joe. We all have friends from all over the world becuase of T2J. I don't want to see the CD or any of us tarnished in anyway. Just a thought. Sorry....Maybe I should have kept my 2 cents in my pocket.

Have A Great Day Everyone ! ! ! !

The speakers in the back corners were for the soundtrack of Operation Mindcrime (the gun shots, the telephone ringing, ect). When I saw them in Chicago, I was in front - 2nd row for part of the first act, and right in front of one of the speakers for OPC and heard the phone ringing (too soon). They were not playing to a sound track - it was used for the extra sounds.

When I saw them - sold out. They were really advertising the show around here - including on Chicago radio (kinda unheard of) now I understand why.

Hi everybody in this beautiful land, the land of Joe...

Wow, I haven't posted in a while because life's been very busy lately. I've been so, so far behind on posts...But finally, I have some time today to post, I have been taken some time to catch up with all these wonderful posts...

Keniko: "Today I have writers block....No more poems.... ( sad face) This gives me a great idea..... How about a T2J poetry book written by the talented poets on this forum? (excluding me of coase cause as you can see I suck at it and Yes...I still don't give a shit..LOL.)"

I think this is an excellent idea, to make a book written by all of us togheter, I love the idea, it could be something beautiful, to have this book all in our homes like a forever link between all of us and...I could show some unknown poetry skills I have to everyone ;-) And it would be cool the prologue written by Joe.

cuthbert1776: "Keniko I like it. In fact, I would like to expand upon the idea. We could have the poetry "contest" (though poems can be short, so you can fit a lot on one disc) and have them spoken word (or printed), buyer's choice. I, of course, would do the reading on the CD version, having the professionally-trained radio voice that I do (yes, there was a life before the bits and bytes). Then, Joe could select -- or WE could select, to keep Joe from being on the spot -- a poem to put to new music, which he would, of course, have his ...ahem.."friend" (the Chrome-atic Surfer? y'all remember Vai's pal 'Reckless Fable') record for distribution. Or not."

I love your idea too. It would be cool to see the whole thing flourish...

Suzie2000: "Have been obsessed with bidding on e-bay the past few days so haven't got on here very much! Hope everyone's having a good evening :)"

Haha Suzie, I know what is being obssesed with bidding on e-bay...my last obssesion on e-bay has been the purchase of a bottle of Steve Vai Fire Garden Honey!!!

Zinc Master, I love English language :-)

MichaelStevensG, "Jesus... does no one know? Or are my posts just invisible?"

Your posts are not invisible :-)

Zinc Master, "What's the similarity between a tornado and an Alabama divorce? Somebody's gonna' lose a trailer... "

Good joke! LOL

gotta have Joe, "Joe: ........ I love you man. If I ever get married I want you to play at my wedding..."

That's beautiful. If I ever get married someday too...I would love Joe to play too...but he is a really busy man. But I would love also to have one of the guitar geniuses at Talk To Joe playing at that hypothetical wedding of mine...Clarky or Simon (962) or The Blues Mavericks...an all-expenses-paid trip of course ;-)

cheese101, hi Tracie! nice review, thanks for sharing :-)

marimariSRV, "Joe charges $50,000 for a performance like that. I was at his last Keswick show and someone asked Mick his manager how much it would cost to have JOe play at their party"

Definitely impossible for me LOL. Mari, hi, how are you doing? I have EVO tickets for Vai in Madrid and normal tickets for Barcelona so I guess I will have a nice mini Vai tour too ;-)

"I'm having fun LIVING.....and so it should go. Live your LIFE while YOU ARE ALIVE! You've ONLY GOT ONE LiFE To LIVE...! Rock ON!"

And amen to that! Have a nice day :-)

OCPS470/death cube k/SupaaDave/PhryDom: about Bil McKim (trutina): I think he has been very sincere, for me people are in the first place always. People is more important than music and music is a labor of love...Forgive him please :-(

The U.S. Govt. or the Middle Easterners or anyone else for that matter doesn't own the planet and it's resources? Back in the days of old, the people of the land respected the very land they called home. They would only take what they needed. They would reseed and new growth would come forth for their efforts. When they killed the animals, they would eat only what they needed. There wasn't a part of this animal being that went to waste. Water bags, clothing, medicine, even fuel out of one kill. They would allow for nature to take it's course and replenish in the spring. So in turn THE EARTH was in good spirits with these people of old. Fast forward to the late 1700's, The english moved to north america with new hopes and dreams. But also with deep rooted beliefs that this new land and all in it was their's? Fast forward again to the 1800's gold & silver were found. Again these people that originally came from across the ocean now had roots and off spring of their own that were being born in this new land. They raped and destroyed this land, never did they think that they might be causing more harm than good. It wasn't about taking care of THE EARTH, no this is our land and we will do as we see fit let us take all this gold and silver and use it for our own needs. Power, greed, murder it didn't matter "we are protecting our own" We have taken control this is our land does not belong to THE EARTH. cont on part 2

part 2. Fast forward to the 1900's thru 2005 and beyond? These people that came from across the ocean and who are now many and are born of this land called North America, have taken for granted many things to this point. The people from south that lived where the sun is the hottest. The sun has painted them the color of night so that they can live in his place of great heat, They lived in harmony with THE EARTH. These souls were taken from their land and treated worse that the beings that were killed for food. They were used to do the wrong doings. The people that lived in this land north america, long before man from across the ocean came. These people still lived in harmony with THE EARTH. Their simple needs and strong beliefs were all they needed and they lived in harmony with THE EARTH. This frightened man, how can these simple people from the south and now the north know what is right and wrong. I have found great riches in this EARTH and I will make it mine. They don't belong to them or to THE EARTH. The people with the simple needs and strong beliefs must be removed from MY EARTH. For only I know what is right and what I can take said the Man from across the ocean who is now 3 to 4 generations born and grown in this THE EARTH. cont on pt 3
