Master Yoda..... Eves drop all you want.....lol..... Thanks for your response. I'm going to paste this and email this response to myself for further reference. I know theory is a vast subject. Do you recommend any books to open up my limited knowlege of theory? I'm a Blues/Rock guitarist and always will be...that's just me. But I also want to do some Instrumental Rock sorta like Satch and Vai. A clear understanding or a real good basic knowledge of theory will help me a great deal. I'm realizing this importance and not afraid to venture into uncharted waters. Yes....I know what i'm getting into....lol..... a musical Pandora's Box....lol....Any suggestions would help a lot. Thanks for responding.

Stevee T I just got Malmsteen's Concerto DVD today, I forgot it came out, saw it when I was over at the mall today in a CD store that has a ticketmaster (I was buying my Yngwie tickets), before I bought them I checked for a few CD's and music DVD's and saw Malmsteen's concerto DVD. I bought the CD a while ago, couldn't wait for the DVD. I'm listening to Yngwie's 'Inspiration' (Anthem, at the time) CD right now...can't wait for the show on the 30th! It'll be my 1st time actually seeing him live, I missed when he came around a year or two ago. Let me know how the show is.

civgeek, hmm, curious that your S is "thin-sounding". Thanks for the input though, it all helps! I tried a Tone Zone in the bridge position of my SA1260 and was very disappointed. DiMarzio (and everyone else) say that it's a hot pickup fattened up with some boosted mids so it's got a god tonal spread and great harmonics. I found that the mid tones were completely missing and it was just bass and treble like a Kirk Hammett pickup. Maybe the TZ just doesn't like Mahogony so much 'cause in the Paul Gilbert models it screams.

Still, your comment was helpful 'cause I'm even more certain now that my current choice of combination will be a good one!

js1200js1000, no problem dude, you're welcome. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with it.....if you don't get it sussed let me know and I'll try and explain better!
svk, aww thanks, I'll pass on your regards to my cat, I'm sure she'll appreciate it! She's being so cute right now....the weather's getting cold so she keeps coming in and finding people to snuggle up to so she can get warm....she's too affectionate for words!
Ovation1, sorry bro, I'm slacking! Andy Timmons for G3!. He is, of course, the quintessential daddy and, therefor, is a requirement as the featured gust on the next G3 DVD! By my reckoning, that means G3 '07 will have Andy on it! Pleeeeeaaaaassseee Joe get Andy on DVD!
VanishingTruth, I personally don't think it's wrong to make a transfer from tape to CD, but my recommendation would be that you just buy it 'cause it's so cheap, and the sound quality is heaps better! hehe :-)

Welcome to T2J, by the way!

Keniko - That's cool; I'm more than happy to help. E-mail me or whatever if you like. As far as theory books go, 'The Jazz Theory Book' by Mark Levine is pretty much a Bible for the subject, but it does get somewhat intense at times... lol. Despite the name, it's really not an all out jazz-jargon assault!!!! Another great book is 'The Right Way To Read Music' by Harry and Michael Baxter. It's very much a classical kind of book as it were, in that it harps on about rules, traditions and pastiche, but it does start off talking about intervals, harmonised scales, chord pogressions, etc. Other than that, there's plenty of websites around with heaps of useful information. Google is your friend! :-D

Master Yoda..... Ah ! ! ! Yes Google. Another good point. Hey...Thanks for the info on the books. I'll look into these books and try Google. Back in the day when I was reading music ....don't ask me why I stopped...Stupid.... I was working out of a book called " For Guitar Players Only " It was written by studio ace Tommy Tedesco. Unfortunetly Tommy Died just recently....But it's still a great book. Not a theory book. More for site and chord chart reading. Anyway thanks for your help.....Much appreciated. Take care.

You can visit me at my site. Email info there. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Mercury is in retrograde.......that explains so much of the craziness and unpleasant happenings lately. I just need to go along for the ride, 2 more weeks of it I think..... Winter arrived today. Brrrrrr.....Came home and had a nice hot bath & comfort food: "Shel's & Cheese" with extra cheese of course. See girls you are always with me.....LOL! Still feeling crappy, I think I should call the Dr but some days I feel better than others, been going on for too long. Not enough rest? I may be moving to a 2nd floor Condo in my development (cathedral ceilings & more privacy/safer) I'm trying to figure out if I want to go through the hastle of all that....we shall see. Moving sucks.

Guitarmiester: How you been? Nice to see you! ..........I'll be seeing Yngwie in Philly on the 29th and NYC @ BB Kings on 12/1. The Starland Ballroom shows 2 opening bands for him. Orange Sky & Avantar. The Great Spandexed One probably won't take the stage till 10 I imagine.......if I can stand for 6 or 7 hours you should be able to... your legs and feet are much younger than mine. hee-hee! Have a great time at the show!! I'll hopefully catch up with you there another time. I'll be there tomorrow night for Collective Soul....I'll be waiting for those doors to be opening. It may be 7 hours of standing after I've busted my ass working all day since 6:30 am........ it's worth every pain. ;-D I'll be asleep early tonight for sure!!

Zenfish: I meant to say tape.......geez, everything is CD now don't often say the word tape. I'll give it a listen Saturday my only day off till next Thursday. I have a 4 day weekend next weekend and I am paying dearly for it.....I have to buy batteries for my Boom Box to play tapes. I can't wait to check it out!!

FABlawyerSBM: Ronnie I think there may just be 4 of us for Yngwie. I've invited a friend from the Camera/photography place that does my work. He may go to Philly with me instead or not at all.....not sure. We will have a blast! We should be done eating by the time he comes onstage so I don't think he's going to attack us if we are sitting in front. LMAO!! I'm sure they will feed him first so it's not "Unleash the Feeding Frenzy".... hahaaa!

svk: Thanks, Blue Buffalo thought she was just repeating what she had said in English about "Let the might of your sword"etc........ in Hindu or whatever language it is she's speaking. I was just curious.

Bro al: You have very nice Pantene hair! You should be proud....... ;-)

marimariSRV I've been over at Vai's board, saw some people from here over there, like Brother Al, he's helped me out with some gear questions I had. But, thought about coming back to Satch's board for a bit, see how it goes. I'd usually seem to post something and not really get any response, sorta like I'd be talking to myself I guess?...kinda got bored, so left. But, can't wait for Malmsteen, I missed when he played at Starland either a year or two ago. Should be an awesome show, let me know what you think of the show you go to. I'll probably try and get to Starland to just see Malmsteen, I've seen reviews on his site that the opening bands aren't that great. Other than that, I've been trying to get a band going, working on it, it's in the process. Waiting for Joe to come back around, Vai, and Dream Theater...I have to see Dream Theater! Amazing band! You like them?

Guitarmiester: I know how you feel, sometimes it can be slow to get a response or none at all. I'm guilty of that too. It happens to everyone I think........It's good to see you back here. Most of the people here are fantastic, just like anywhere you go I guess...there will always be a few that are " less than fantastic". I was at Yngwies last show at Starland Ballroom, George Lynch was one of the opening bands, he was amazing!! I think there were 4 Bands that night....I was 2 or 3 people back. I 'd snuck my camera in but Security had a clear view of me so I didn't take any shots. It's not worth getting kicked out or my equipment taken. I did get a pick from Yngwie, he was flirting with me....I was one of the few girls in the crowd. I met one of my good friends there. Ivan has a great voice & he has about 15 guitars, he's an incredible musician!! I've made some great friends at shows....Yes, I think DT is amazing too! I saw them 2x...most recent at the Tower Theatre in Philly where I 1st met Michelle about 2 years ago I think. I also can't wait for Joe to come around, waiting patiently.........

8:30 pm Night Night! long day tomorrow....up @ 5am for work & Rocking with Collective Soul in the Evening...Oh Yeah!!

Hi everyone... :-)

I need to stop disappearing for months on end, huh?

Man...SO much stuff has been going on over the past few months. It's crazy. I'll fill everyone in over the next few days... A few things for now, though:

- It looks like matt king found his way out to San Francisco this week. I'm leaving here at 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. tomorrow to go hang with him for the afternoon. It should be cool.

- In response to the Sony copy protection stuff, it looks like they've finally released a complete list of the 52 CDs that have the XCP software on them. You can find that list here. Looking at the list, I doubt many people here have any CDs on the list other than the new G3 - Live In Tokyo one.

- I saw Eric Johnson in concert three weeks or so ago. He was absolutely amazing...enough said. ;-) His new (old) CD and DVD are cool, too.

- I saw Zinc Master's post about NBC's coverage of the upcoming 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death, so I thought I'd complain for a moment. ;-) Why on earth do networks always include so much stuff from his killer in all of these specials? I remember a few years ago CBS reran part of a 60 Minutes interview with the scumbag on the anniversary of Lennon's death. Come on...can't they pick a different day to show that stuff? I think it pulls attention away from Lennon. Anyway...I'll post this again closer to the date, but if anyone wants to hear a cool interview with producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, etc...he was with Lennon the night he was killed) from two years ago, click here.

- marimariSRV, I hope you have fun at the Collective Soul show. I saw them again over the summer; they were awesome.

Well, that's all for now. I'm going to be away for most of this weekend, but then you guys can consider me back here for good. I've missed you people... ;-)

...Austin...
