hey Joe Satriani...
have you ever played in New Zealand before?
if you have... will you ever play here again?
I'd really love to catch one of your live shows, but you haven't had one (as far as I know) since atleast 2000 (when I started getting into your music), so I have to make do with the Live in San Francisco and G3 dvd's.
I read in one of your posts you might be going to australia to do some clinics and g3 or something... any chance you'd stop by here?

Hello, I am really into your style of music and really like the song "The Crush Of Love" and I was wondering if you would be able to give the whole tab for the song (with the length of each note).
Thankyou, Barry

Joe,
Man where to start... I Know you must hear flattery all the time but I must tell you, I have been playing since I was 12,(am now 20) and have never, throughout the entire 8 years , been so inspired by one person! My dream is to perform, but the technicalities of life seem to be overwhelming at times. I live in Eugene Oregon and have had a hell of a time trying to find anyone who feels even remotely close to the smae way about music as I do. I feel I am stuck in a rut and have been a little discouraged lately and was hoping for a little advice or a few words of wisdom. My playing, I feel hasn't gone anywhere in a few years. I ear people tell me how good they think I am and ask me why I'm not in a band or even heard of but It's hard to find fellow musicians with the same dream anymore. How do I start something on my own? How did you do it? I also was curious if you still give lessons or even just one lesson and how I would go about getting one from you. It would be nothing less than a dream come true to meat and learn from you. But I don't mean to rant so If you can, please reply via my email @:
erkwold@hotmail.com
or if you can only post on the message board I will keep an eye out.
Thank you for sharing your talent, it is appreciated on a level few would understand.

Nick: don't put words into my mouth...you said it!!! (jk man)
I had a dream last night that I finally found "The Ultra Zone" and bought it...when I got it home the first song was exactly the same as "There's A Fire In The House" except with bits cut out of it. I was so cranky. And the cover was different. When I woke up I was so annoyed, because I never even bought it after all #sniff#
R6R: amen to Foo Fighters...my favourite band. Satch...my favourite solo artist. Also, "you can't say that but you can think it" is my opinion. Especially on this forum...who would get on vai.com and say "Joe does xxx" or whatever? I hope no-one. Again, "but whatever"
Clarky: you could fight with "Cherries"...
AVARICE: good observation, buddy...Keihan was quoting what I said, not making the comment.
Trutina: "MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"
later, them persons

I don't know why, but Flight of Mind is sounding particularily nice now. The real bass guitar sounds excellent and I love the way it goes into it's line.
I am enjoying the non-legato lead guitar part. The first melody line is killer. It grabs you and doesn't let go. I am loving that guitar tone too. What guitar? Obviously it's gotta be a full front pickup.
The only thing about this song is at 2:00 exactly. The drums are fine, the lead is fine. I just cannot distinguish between the bass and rhythm. It's like a wall of sound. I can still somewhat hear it well enough without it ruining the song. It picks up again at 2:28
I am hearing some FIABD influence in this tune definately.

I'd sure hoped that the t2j family would realize that guitar players can only be the best of themselves. I'm not sure where all the grouse if from. I appreciate anyone who can produce an album and stay in the playing scene. Nuff said. thanks for being the best reason to play Joe!

No more Yngwie debate??? AW, C'MON!
By the way, I've clocked myself at 8 notes per second... Does that make me half Malmsteen? Is it fair if I pick each note twice?
Now, serious... I confess I got inspiration from Yngwie. Not his music, though: I once saw an ad in a magazine, from some music institute I don't remember the name. It had a picture of him (he was still, um, slim) and a quote, something like "If you really love music, play it."
Don't know wether it was he who said that... But it doesn't matter, it was beautiful :~)

Thank you guys for all the info about the triple neck heart shaped thing. It seems to be much cooler than I thought.
Until now, I thought that if I'd won this guitar on Vai's contest, I would give the body to my girlfriend on Valantine's Day, and use the rest as replacement parts.

woldeface, don't fret!...check out the other guitar players on T2J, they rock! ...and they're doing it their own way, on their own terms, working with what they've got....I know it's hard when you don't know many people close by to hang with who think the same way you do, but, we are here! So, get started, post it and let us know where to check it out. Your friends on T2J will tell you exactly what we think, which is a good thing...Joe

Matt: You guys are going to be doing some very cool stuff, I can't wait to hear it.
Artanis I: "Meeee"? What, you got some tunes? Post a link I'll listen, though probably not until tomorrow night, gonna upload a tune to my iuma in a minute.
Well everyone, I took my silly little "Jimmy Page with broken fingers" thingy and put some bass and drums on it. Sounds funny, strange and sorta nifty all at the same time. It only has one guitar track (very odd for me) with a bunch of delay, but the bass and drums is where I noodled around on this one. On the bass there is one track, that I added a slight bit of echo to and then played it backwards. There are three drum tracks, all of the same beat/pattern. The first is the straight up pattern, only the left channel is forward, the right is backward. Then I put the same thing thru my effects processor and added heavy delay, recified amp tone and wah wah nonsense at the beginning and end that goes straight forward on both channels. Then I took this rectified drum beat, lowered it's level and split it right forward/ left backward and hid it in the background. Awful lot of troube for a goofy little tune but it was fun to do. I'm gonna try to upload it now and will post a link if the iuma gods are feeling generous tonight.

Woldeface,
Welcome and: CONGRATS!!! You got your FIRST post answered by Joe! Quite a feat my man! Thanks to all the folks for the feedback (and even those that just listened) on FoM... it really means a lot to me to hear that my sound fits, especially after remembering back in 2000 when I found the original COE site, heard two songs, and just thought, "wow, I wish I could play with guys like that..." This is, in the truest sense, a dream come true for me... like Matt said, though, if only I were out in NJ instead of CA... God, man, there's not even any more gold out here anymore! : P

Woldeface: Yeah man, like Joe says.....we're all like a big family here. We post our tunes or ideas online and get feedback from each other......what we like, what we think sucks.....ways to improve, constructive criticism, inside tricks of the trade, gear talk, etc. Believe me, with guys like Avarice, Clarky, Pete Mulas and Satch3d (Matt King) on the board regularly.....any theory questions you might have can surely be addressed. Post a tune or two and join the fun. Look forward to hearing some stuff from ya soon.
**Peace**
