Suzie-2000: What is the dvd version of the Seville Concert like? Has it got the full set on it? The video that was on the BBC at the time cut a few tracks off (I'm especially looking for the live version of Get The Funk Out that was edited out).

962 - Hey, Simon! I don't have any Paul Gilbert stuff apart from the Guitar Wars dvd but that was awesome! I really like his sense of humour and his website is pretty funny too! He would be a great choice for the G3 tours.

My old guitar tutor took some of his students to a Paul Gilbert clinic a few years ago and he invited people to get up and jam. One of his students there got up and apparently held his nerve and actually gave a great account of himself on the night. I think it would all go by in a blur for me!

One question about your tip for my sound problem - when you said to put the Wolfgang after the wah and tuner, you do realise that the Wolfgang is my guitar? If so, how does this work???!

I've left my guitar in for a set up so they are going to check the wiring in case it's anything to do with that. If not I'll try the one pedal at a time test. It could be a problem with the clean channel on the amp. Do the overdrive/clean channels have seperate speakers? It sounded fine on the overdrive channels but I didn't try it for too long on the clean.

6 weeks until Gary Moore/BB KIng - woohoo! For all you Thin LIzzy/John Sykes fans, check out the 'new' Thunder and Lightning dvd from their last Irish tour, some fantastic performances!

Ailing Les Paul Misses Grammys, Tribute Concert

February 09, 2006, 9:25 AM ET

Electric guitar innovator Les Paul won two Grammy Awards last night (Feb. 8) for an all-star album marking his 90th birthday, but he was unable to pick them up in person because he is hospitalized in New Jersey with pneumonia.

Paul, whose name has adorned a brand of guitars used by rock stars since the 1950s, won his trophies in the pop instrumental performance category for the track "Caravan," and in the rock instrumental performance category for the track "69 Freedom Special," credited to Les Paul and Friends.

The tracks come from the Capitol album "Les Paul & Friends: American Made World Played," his first release since 1978's "Chester & Lester" with late Nashville icon Chet Atkins. That album marked the only other time he won a Grammy. The new CD features such guitarists as Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons and Keith Richards accompanying Paul on classic rock and R&B songs.

Paul has been hospitalized near his New Jersey home since Friday, a spokeswoman for his label said. In a radio interview on Monday, he sounded chipper and vowed he would get better.

Ill health forced him to pull out of an all-star tribute concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday, featuring the likes of former Guns 'N Roses guitarist Slash, Aerosmith's Joe Perry, and bluesmen Buddy Guy and Hubert Sumlin, nut he appeared via satellite feed.

At 90, Paul is not the oldest winner in the Grammys' 48-year history. That honor goes to Elizabeth Cotten, who was 94 when she won the award for ethnic or traditional folk recording in 1985, according to a Grammys spokesperson.

Paul has been a dominant force in the music business since World War II. He and wife Mary Ford enjoyed a string of hits in the 1940s and '50s with such million-sellers as "Mockin' Bird Hill" and "How High the Moon."

A passionate tinkerer, he created one of the first solid-body electric guitars in 1941, and went on to pioneer multi-track recording. He played a key role in the birth of rock 'n' roll in the early 1950s when he teamed up with Gibson Guitar Corp. to help design a sleek model that bears his name. An instant success, its basic structure has barely changed over the decades.

Despite arthritis and hearing problems, Paul remains an indefatigable musician. He holds court every week at Iridium, a New York jazz club, often trading licks with youngsters who want to prove their mettle.

Stevee T & Suzie, here's a picture of Joe's mum from July 14, 2001 at the Beacon in NY. My husband and I talked to her a bit. She was very sweet and funny, and very proud of Joe and the band.

Zinc that's great (the black lab thing)... the Humane Society here do a most wonderful job (sometimes some of their rescues live at my building while waiting to be homed)... and yeah, the AJC (Atlanta Journal - Constitution) is the local paper here, and 404 is one of the local area codes here... do you happen to know if she got a home after all those calls? Speaking of where I live, I meant to post this earlier in the week, can't remember if I did...

Bahduh: Glad to hear you & family are doing well...keep up the good work my friend! No word from Steven Wilde I'm sorry to say.......... Keep in touch! :-)

Ovation: Mikeysan! I just Loved watching EJ record Tribute to Jerry Reed........I had the Honor & Pleasure of seeing EJ perform the song several times. I was so close I could touch him for 5 outa 6 shows.....WoW!! And I did when I met him after the shows......very cool stuff! EJ remembered me from the 1st time he met me up in Teaneck, NJ where Les Paul showed up.....Holy Mother Of Jesus!!!! What a night........EJ played for over 3 hrs, did like 6 or 7 encores! My thighs were touching his monitor & the stage.......then I got to meet him & get the set list autographed as if my night was Not good enough.......lmao!! "Life is not measured by the number of breathes you take.......it's measured by the Moments that Take your Breathe Away".......I live my life for those moments...and that was certainly one I will never ever forget!! I'm hoping to make it to the CrossRoads Festival in Texas this June..... Fingers crossed!! Photo-passes & backstage passes pretty please! ;-D

Do the Stu: I saw Collective Soul 2X last year! Totally awesome dude! The 1st was the Road to Vegas Tour in Philly at the Electric Factory (Michelle saw JS there, I never did) & there was 1 person standing in front of me.....I had SOOOOO much fun!! Totally Rocked wooohooo! ;-)) Then this fall I saw them Again at the Starland Ballroom in NJ. I was further away 20 feet? maybe but they had 2 opening bands. I'd been sick since I had returned from Europe and almost passed out.......seems I had an upper respiratory infection, for about 2 months. live & learn........

Suzie2000: Happy 1200!! how long have you been here?.....I've been here since right after I encounter G3-03 in November 03....Yeah! ;-))

mikesb: We wish you the best.... Get well soon....

slanshroom: Werd to ya bro on the uncanny G, lol, we need a surprise!!.... BTW bro, thanks for that link!!....

Keniko: Michael Angelo is crazy, lol!!....

962: haha, lol man, I do believe there are a few Gilberto fans in the house, but most people dont appreciate (or get the humor in) the great songs that he writes.... KOC is a great raw album and I love his tone!!.... The man is the most versatile player out there!!....

BTW, great idea on the classical compilation, lol, I've wondered about that too.... Here it goes: From RX Street Lethal YRO (Yngwie Rip Off).. Superheroes Viking Kong!!.. You've got to get Alligator Farm next cause it has one of my heavy faves on it Let The Computer Decide, plus the classical Whole Lotta Sonatta, plus the Spice Girls Two Become One and the jazzy Six Billion People, lol!!.... Then get Gilbert Hotel for the great sing along acoustic work with NFRO and WTRO for great classical, plus The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway!!!!.... Then there is Paul The Young Dude: The Best Of (and it includes a note about each song from Paul) which contains all the classic, plus unheard of songs like Superloud for eg. (made for an Asahi beer commercial, great song, and I remember the old commercial!!), plus.... the most incredible crazy guitar work I've ever hear from the last song: Second Loudest Guitar In The World!!!!.... OMG, when you hear it, you'll just drop your guitar, go in a corner and hide, lol!!!!.... Some of the intro lyrics: The shredheads like it, but it doesnt fit the song I played..The chords McCartney used in Yesterday..Then changed them to make music my own way..When some girl, pissed me off so much, that I used a heavy pick..And played the Loudest Guitar In The World.... Then get ready for the most incredible guitar assault you ever heard!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) BTW, he writes: TSLGITW is a song I wrote during the Burning Organ sessions. At the end of the song (intro lyrics), the lyrics announce that I will actually play the LOUDEST guitar in the world. But I decided not to blow up your speakers and ears. So instead I just played really fast and for a long time. And definately not quiet.... Thats what I love about Paul, lol, he rules!!.... And you can hear towards the last part of the assault where he breaks a string and then coasts to the ending with crazy flair!!!!....

....Hope that helps bro, and that I didnt miss anything, lol, get it all!!.... Paul Gilbert Rulez!!

....Printing this out would help, lol ;-)

....Later peeps....
