Mystical Robot :- As far as scales go,while I know my way around the fretboard fairly well,I've never been good with theory. I've always been more of a "feel" player and Ive usually discovered things purely by chance and then found out later what it is I discovered. Not that I don't understand theory,I've just never been able to consciously apply it. I've learned over time never to underestimate your own ability, because even though you may think your not that good, sometimes you gotta take note of what those around you say when they hear your playing. If they're telling you how good you are,run with it and keep improving.

Another tip I can offer is this: anytime you have the guitar in your hands and you feel like you're stuck in a rut, listen to music you don't normally listen to and improvise over the top of it.Doesn't matter what it is.Rap,R&B,Metal,Classical, country, even commercial pop.I've always found this opens you up to fresh ideas and sounds,as does jamming with other musicians.Cheers!

Austin-I actually went to Meyers Elementary School with Jaycee Lee Dugard. One of my best friends was at the bus stop and saw her get kidnapped.Surreal.

I can't believe what she has had to endure.I hope for the most heinous punishment for her captors. How they could dare to plead "Not Guilty" leaves me speechless.I reserve the highest level hatred for that class of human being.

cheese101 - "Chris and I will be in line early"

And, for once, I can be right there with you from the start! I won't have any toll bridge traffic to get stuck in this time around...haha. I think I've been about 30 minutes to an hour later than you to the last two SF shows...argh.

Maybe I'll get to Lake Tahoe an hour earlier the day before to make up for it? ;-)

michelle - That's really sad, especially if it was drugs that killed him. I'm sure he looked at life differently after making it through the plane crash, but to still not be able to kick the bad habit after that? I can't imagine how addictive some drugs must be...

cheese; great vids! you guys all make me jealous with these vids. it takes me hours to upload a couple of minutes worth. you upload 35 mins worth of good quality video in no time. i'm obviously in need of an upgrade. where did you get this by the way. did i miss the fact you came to a CT show from OR? i was like 5 or 6 rows away from you on the right! and if i did i miss that fact i apologize. would have loved to meet someone from this board at a show! we know a lot of people that were in the front row that night who would love to see your footage. at 29 mins when Sammy laid down our friends Dan & Christie were right in front of him. i have the a lot of the same footage! what a small world!

addmission free, pay at the door, pull up a seat and sit on the floor. I come before you to stand behind you to tell you some thing I know knothing about......In the middle of the night, in the broad daylight, two dead boy boys got up to fight. Back to back the faced each other, drew thier swords, they shot one one another. A deaf police man heard the noize, ran up and shot the two dead boys. Now if you ask me how this all came to be....I'll tell you a blind man told me he saw it all thru a knot hole in a barbed wire fence...........

Austin, " I can't imagine how addictive some drugs must be... " Read some books like Scar Tissue & The Heroin Diaries. It's beyond anything you can imagine if you've never been there. Funny thing is, ppl who don't have a drug/alcohol problem say "Well why don't they just stop!" Sounds so easy, doesn't it. I'm still not sure which is worse - if you have the problem yerself, or you love someone with that problem. Either way is hell.

Anyways, let's dance.

Tracie- I will be the big bald guy who needs a shower because he stood in line all day ..because he couldn't decide if he could go to Atlanta until all VIP tickets were gone. But anyway...I'll be thinking about you guys.

We are staying close to the venue so maybe I can keep an eye on the line and jump in if I need to.

Skippy- If I see a camera on me, I'll be sure to wave to the T2Jers.

If you are there, come by and say Hi to Burly and Mrs. Burly. I think I may wear a "Got Riffs" T shirt. and do some advertising for my man Dave.

GuitarVibes-I thought you had been quiet lately. Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Anyway our flight leaves this afternoon so I am going to pack.

Enjoy your weekend!

Don and Peace Lily, glad you liked that long CF video....I found it on youtube and put the link here, but it's not my vid, I wasn't at that particular show. In fact I don't know which show it's from other than it has to be one before the Atlantic City gig as it was posted on youtube Aug 21, and our gig was Aug 22. Do you know where it was? Whoever did the vid did a fantastic job!!

I was at the Atlantic City show with my peeps there...too bad you didn't make that one too, lol!! Joe-HO'S that you are :))) It's a great label, wear it proudly, lol!!

chelle...what happened IS very sad and you're absolutely right. I've seen it time and time again, the grip that drugs have on people. I'm not sure what the "x" factor is that some people have that helps them kick their addictions, but so many just can't. It's very complicated because so much can play into how they got into drugs in the first place...family environment, their mental/emotional health, socio-economic status, the friends they chose...the list goes on and on. I know that ultimately it is the person's free will and choice that first leads them down this path, but some people are just so damaged to begin with that they are easy targets for addictions to take root. I see it all the time in my job. By the time they get to us....they barely have enough brain cells left to even tell me their name. It's incredibly frustrating, and sad. I wish it was as easy as grabbing them, shaking sense into them, and making them just STOP. Instead...we deal with the shell that's left behind.

Anyways.....

Found this write-up from Aug 27th's show... here. The author LOVES Davey Knowles (who doesn't!) and says good things about Chickenfoot.

burly, you and wifey have a fantastic time at the show...I know alllllll about the long wait in line, my son and I do it all the time but it's SO worth it!! As skippy said, WAVE..and wave BIG so we can see ya on the dvd, LOL!!

WHY am I up this early on a Saturday FFS!!!

So apparently Aerosmith's Brad Whitford jammed with Chickenfoot during the encore of the Charlotte show on 8/27. Was anyone there? I looked on YouTube but didn't see anything.

Ibanezplyr - Ah, too bad...it'd be great if you were at the show. I don't think I'll be able to stop by that day to see you and say "hey" (I'll be busy with family), but maybe another time!
michelle - I've read Aerosmith's Walk This Way from 1997...there are SO many drugs in that book. Steven tells stories of how he's so F'd up he'd not bother to tie his shoes, and how his sides would be bruised because he couldn't even walk through a door correctly.

I've also read bits and pieces of The Dirt, Motley Crue's bio.

You haven't started reading the Slash bio yet, have you? I got it recently but haven't started yet...let me know when you do and I'll try to read it at the same time.

Guitarvibes - Welcome back!

Sorry to hear about your job, but at least you know ahead of time...right?

burly - Have an awesome time at the gig! You're representing T2J on video...do us proud.

I do have one piece of Atlanta dining knowledge, but I don't know how helpful it'll be: breakfast at the Burger King at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta is pretty good. ;-)

I had a layover there for a few hours while flying to NY for Dream Theater's Score CD/DVD recording in 2006.

Speaking of Dream Theater, my dad and brother are flying to LA right now and we're going to the show tonight. DT is one of my dad's favorite bands, and it's his birthday today! So it should be a good show. I'm also taking him to see It Might Get Loud, since it hasn't opened up in Sacramento yet.

And Skippygirl, since I know you'll ask ;-), I'm not staying at my apartment tonight so I won't be able to post a review until sometime tomorrow. But I will post one.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

cheese; that was definately the CT show at the Mohegan Sun Casino. like I said we were about 5 or 6 rows to the right of the person who took those vids. believe me if we had any money left we would have been in NJ, NY, SC and any other east coast show they did.

found this link on Chad's beanning of Joe in Boston, in Chad's own words! click here about half way down the page under the question "like Chickenfoot hows the tour going"

Guitarvibes--Sorry to hear about your job. My older sister lost her job about a week ago at Charles Schwab. Her department, cash control was moving to Phoenix. Then within a month or so they decided to move to someplace in Florida. What a mess. She knew the general direction of things for the past year, but not the details. Now she has 2 1/2 months of vacation and sick pay and in October she can apply for unemployment benefits and will get some kind of severence pay. She may have to rent a room from a friend if she can't afford to rent her present apartment. Why does life have to be so hard! ;-(

I'm trying to smile even though I don't feel like it. I still have a job at the library and that's a good thing. I have a guitar buddy who seems to like me. Steve the husband who keeps on going through seizures and headaches and rarely complains!
