I have to say say BB Kings Blues club is one bad ass place to see a show! I'm listening to Jeff Beck live at BB's 9/03 and I'm so pissed I wasn't there! I was there last nite for the J. Entwistle foundation charity concert and I sat (table for 1) right in front of the guitarist and keyboardist of the band Torque! They used to jam with John! I met the giutar peck/stage manager (he saw me reading the 4/04 GW mag)
he said he was on the G3 tour with Paul Gilbert.(I don't knowP Gilbert) and has been on tour w/ Mountain/many others and will be with J. Beck! I want some BackStage Passes Please! LOL! We shall see what is the truth! He will be a kuul friend anyway! He has been touring for a very long time and he says he from Fishkill ,NY. Joe's hometown area! I think he may be someone to connect with, most interesting dood!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but parallel fourths are okay in counterpoint aren't they? It's just fifths and octaves to avoid. I thought I'd check because I want this little bit in my new song to be authentic...

962: when I go to the Vai forum from a different computer, my name doesn't show up until I log in on that machine. (Even though I never "log off") So I don't reckon your name will always show up. If your computer is turned off or whatever it shouldn't show your name there I don't reckon.
When I go there there's never more than half a dozen names or so, and I'm pretty sure there's quite a few people that don't log out.
DCK: that term means many things here...it all depends on the context. In general it refers to "things really happening" so it could be physical, sexual or psychological. It just means the intensity increases.

alphaskygod - Welcome back! What does your new nickname mean?
DelfinoPie - Make a little kid the killer in your slasher film...haha.
juju808 - Round 2 will start in about a week. Round 1 will be open until 11:59.59 p.m. (Pacific time) Wednesday. I'll tally up all of the votes and then we'll have a few days to make fun of our choices before we move on to the next round.
"...beautiful spring days!"
Spring? What's that? It was winter here last week...we had a few rainstorms. Summer came yesterday...now the weather is 85-90 degrees and sunny. What the...? ;-)
kandhi - Welcome to the site! :-)
JS JS - Feel free to email me if you're having trouble with Speed Of Light. I can find a good tab for you and give you some pointers if you want...
Joeman9 - Joe uses his right hand to mute the strings, and he uses his left hand to tap out an arpeggio.

Joeman: no problemos, I got your reply. It's all good, and no, that's not my real surname. It's a joke. Benevolent is a real word. If you keep watching the space, you'll notice I'll change it every now and then. (It was Ben Chmark a week ago.)
According to Hyper Dictionary:
[adj] having or showing or arising from a desire to promote the welfare or happiness of others; "his benevolent smile"; "a benevolent nature"
[adj] generous in assistance to the poor; "a benevolent contributor"; "eleemosynary relief"; "philanthropic contributions"
[adj] generous in providing aid to others
[adj] doing or producing good
[adj] intending or showing kindness; "a benevolent society"

DAVID LEE ROTH On VAN HALEN Reunion - “I Wouldn't Old My Breath" [Rock Hard - 04.03.08 19:11:59]
While on tour in Europe, former VAN HALEN singer DAVID LEE ROTH spoke with Norway's Metal Express. "If the Van Halen band was ever to do a reunion, super, but I wouldn't old my breath" he said. “The one thing you cannot duplicate ever is the sound of the human voice that makes me sound this way" he explained. "If you think about it, the London Philharmonic Orchestra is really a Tchaikovsky tribute band. Tchaikovsky has been dead for many years and so has most his rhythm section so why do we keep going to the concert? Because an instrumentalist can take the music beyond where they find it."
As previously reported, Warner Special Markets is said to have negotiated a deal with Van Halen for a new greatest-hits package featuring three new songs. A tour to support the album is also said to be in the works, reportedly to include Sammy Hagar. While still unconfirmed, some close to the action confide that they think the album and tour will happen.

jazzerskydogmetalknee, how'd things go? Is everything o.k.? Are you back in the saddle again? lol!
mari, Austin, I'll be picking up Aerosmith's new cd when it comes out at the end of the month.
Graham, can you recommend a bass for beginners. We're looking for a bass for our 12 yr. old (the tuba monster). The guy at the store was trying to sell us some sort of Hammer Slammer or something? It had a short neck, but maybe we should start him our with a reg. size? No clue? Any tips for buying a first bass? Anybody?

Head on down to the fish shop one or two blocks from the water, and tell them you've got guests tonight. "I'd like a few bass, thanks" is a good line to follow with. Size does not matter. The neck should be completely invisible until it's been scaled/gutted/boned etc. A long neck on a bass is a very bad thing. Make sure they wrap it up nice and well and with that white butcher's paper.
Take it home and show it to the young 'un. (If necessary keep it the freezer until the right moment.) He'll be mighty impressed!

joeman9 i'm with JS_JS on the posting thing (JS_JS, this goes for you too): I love that there's so many people here posting that all appreciate Joe in one way or another, but multiple occurences of multiple posts in a row are a bit of a faux-pas when it comes to forum etiquette. It also does get kind of annoying to read so many posts in a row from the same person when all the material could have been easily edited in to one post. Personally, I'd prefer this didn't turn in to a chat room. As John notes, You'll come across better if you edit your post rather than post multiple messages in a row.
Just my two cents, no hard feelings, nothing personal, cool?
michelle, that's AWESOME that your little dude is getting in to bass. if he's already so big (didn't you say he was like 6'?!), don't bother with a small bass. i'm like 5'9"/5'10" and i handle a 36" scale just fine (normal is 34"). what kind of budget are you looking at? if you need the whole package, fender, much as i don't like them sometimes, really can be one of your best choices for a beginning package if you want something under... say... $350? if you're thinking just bass, ibanez and fender, of course, make some decent stuff. schecter is worth looking at. epiphone and yamaha both have good basses at the right price. i'm a total carvin convert, but you probably wouldn't be able to get a carvin for under $550. something to consider would be if your hubby happens to be a guitar dude himself, you can buy a bolt kit from carvin and he can build his own bass. as long as ONE person knows what they're doing, it'll turn out better than just about any new $500 bass you'd get from a normal company, and it's like $375.
ebay's definitely a good place to look. feel free to email me if you find something and want a second opinion or something.
i can't really think of a whole ton of general options i'd go for on a first bass since preference is so prevalent in the decision, but when buying it, the sellar (or the company specs) should be able to tell you/give you: woods used, neck construction, body veneers/tops, electronics, pickups, tuners/machine heads, bridge (type/style), nut material, included tools (for the truss rod or bridge adjustment) are usually automatic, but ya never know...
that's about all i can think of off the top of my head with the time i've got... i gotta head to a friend's senior recital, and then to a phi mu alpha meeting... keep us here @ t2j informed! i'm psyched to see how your little one takes to bass :)

Michelle: I ordered it for 17.98 with all the charges on Sony, and I get a harmonica keychain! That was the limited edition part. I know you will like the tunes girl! Are you a Skynyrd fan? I totally love them! I guess what you love in high school stays with you the rest of your life! It's true! I grew up on Led Zep, Aerosmith, Skynyrd, Clapton, J.Beck,Stones, Heart and Jimi! SRV is my main love, unfortunately after his passing.
Rock on!
