Austin, no hon, it was a voluntary 2 week stint. Did it last year too. Retail after the new year goes to shit, so they ask if anyone wants to take a short lay off. My dept peeps usually take turns in 2 week bits. Since my claim is still open from last yr, I figgered I'd jump now instead of waiting till they make me go later when I'd have a waiting week again. Now I get to recover a bit from the busy season/holiday madness, and spend some time with my daughter while she's home from college. It's all gravy baby...cept the money part. lol! I left a note on my desk. I told them to enjoy the quiet :-), hold hands when they cross the street, and don't mess up my area and make me have to shank somebody when I come back. LOL!

And here's what I missed in Philly on NYE. Had to much other stuff going on to make it. Last time he played in Philly was feckin Black Friday. lol!

Its all good ...funny stuff..

Hey ,yesterday there was a brawl at my sons wrestling tourney. These two kids were wrestling and then one head butts the other. Ref does nothing.

Then the lil s.o.b. head butts the kid again. Ref nothing. Then they start slugging .....people jump up to pull 'um apart then adults start slugging and wrestlers start slugging and shouting ....

oh lord it was a mess...But most of the melee had to do with peeps from one town.... It was the biggest display of poor sportsmanship I have ever witnessed.

(my kid missed it all ,he was in the bathroom ..lol) And after all that the ref was still going to let them finish the match...but peeps started booing and saying no.
Long story short the match was discontinued and the 2 young men did not get to wrestle the rest of the tourney.

Bright spot for this proud momma was when my son took home the top medal for the 215 lbs. bracket. He told me he listened to some Satriani & others with his I-Pod to get pumped up before his championship round ...... :-)

michelle - Ah, glad to hear things are OK then. I've been skimming T2J day to day instead of reading it properly for a while now, and I wondered if I missed something. The first "unread" post on T2J for me is from just after I got back from Chickenfoot in Lake Tahoe in freakin' September. I know I have some catching up to do, but I'm nuts if I think I'll read four months of stuff...haha. ;-)

michelle, it prolly sux but wouldn't it suck more if they scheduled you and made you drive all the way there to then send you home just after a couple of hours because it was not busy? that's what my old work used to do... in the end, we didn't make any money and our day was cut in half, we couldn't do anything else...

cosmic, it could be a lot worse. I'm actually very lucky to still have a job. Our hours were also cut, and they'll stay that way for prolly a few months. It's gonna make things even tighter around here, but like I said, I still consider myself one of the lucky ones. Getting sent home early, eh? That makes for a sucky paycheck.

It's the unofficial cut in your hours... your schedule looks the same on paper, but your paycheck is way slimmer...

I like Joe's hours. Travel the world for a few months, play a lot of music, make some nice cash, and then get six to nine months off.

I agree chelle, I know he's hurting too....and my heart hurts for him as I know many others hurt for him too.

6 to 9 months off Austin? I'd be willing to bet that Joe's seldom taken more than a few weeks at a time off, given all he's involved in, between writing music, recording, touring, developing pedals, amps, straps, picks, guitars...and prolly working on putting together G3's as much as possible...charity work, interviews, photo sessions....lordy, I don't know if many of us would survive his "off" time :) I'd love to see him take some personal time right now...at a time like this, you need time to yourself or with close family and friends to get ya through. But we know in less than one month his dvd will drop, and then in less than 2 months he's right back out there touring with The Hendrix Experience. Don't know how he does it....he's amazing.

Love and hugs to ya Joe, try to take it easy fer as long as you can, you deserve it :)

Now...as to this proven headache remedy....who's going to volunteer to do the necessary research, eh? :D

I would think Joe is venting his sorrow, and using it, writing some music. Hope your well Joe!

Yeah, my comment was said with a bit of sarcasm and without a wink ;-) so it didn't come out quite right.

I know there's much more to it than what I said, and six to nine months "off" is really six to nine months "working at home"...but still, in its own way that's really cool too. Joe gives and does a lot, I'm not trying to minimalize that at all, but I guess it's just me searching for work now and thinking it'd be neat to do things his way for a while.

That's the 2002 webcast, from early in the tour...Amsterdam, I believe (ha!). Here is an old post of mine with more info.

I love those pants!

I Believe was in the set for the first show or three of the co-headlining tour Joe did with Dream Theater in the summer of 2002, but it was dropped by the time he played Concord (the show I saw). I don't think it came back for the "An Evening With..." dates he did later on, but I missed that tour so I'm not sure. Why was in the set for that...it stinks that I missed my favorite song, but the live arrangement doesn't include the end of the solo (my favorite part) so it's OK. ;-)

I have video of an SBM webcast saved somewhere...it might be on my old computer. I'm not sure if it's this webcast, or if there was another one in the US later in the tour.

I also remember seeing some rehearsal footage Jon shot that has the band singing funny lyrics like "I'm Habib" and "ham and cheese" instead of "I Believe."

Probably more than anyone wanted to know, huh? ;-)

...Austin...
