trutina/miranda, best regards to both of you. Miranda, i'm not at all religious either, but I do send my best wishes to bil. I'm really sorry to hear he had such a bad hit against the new treatment, i've seen similar things happen before and i know it's frustrating to know that the drugs can actually make things worse.

I haven't been here that long and have not had the pleasure of talking with bil much, but it is abundantly clear that he is part of the t2j 'inner circle' - he is one of those who everyone looks up to, who everyone likes to see hear and who everyone likes to hear from, and I hope we don't have to wait too long before bil posts to us all again.

If he is still in a coma then I hope he can hear you, so he can hear you give him everyone's best regards from the messageboard! I'm sure we are all agreed!

What is his favourite song/tune of Joe's? Do you know?

ollyno1, I just ordered 2 more tickets! ahh! Someone else do the sums on what 13 tickets at £29 costs me! hehe

Dude, thanks for telling me about where those seats are! I'm happier now! oh and thanks for the link to the seating plan. the numbers are kinda hard to read but I get the idea!

sheldyboy11, do you think think that joe getting the Sars virus would do justice to his career? It may be a 1% risk or whatever it has come down to, but traveling is largely governed by airlines, travel agencies and immigrations offices, and there will be a lot of officials recommending that people don't travel to certain places at certain times.

I'm sure joe will want to make a trip to india when it makes sense for him to do so.

what a bummer of a week it has been. last week i had about 4 friends coming to g3 with me at nottingham.
thursday: everyone said they'll be coming. at night one of the friends found out aint got no money.
firday friend 2 and 3 pulled out. friend 4 aint got enough money. i said i'll be still going no matter what. i'm definatly getting tickets oon the night. so i did.
still nothing from friends 1,2,4. friend 3 aint got no money and eventually be able to get them.
skipping to recent.
monday friend said yes he'll come.
today, found out friend 3 is going to move next month. what a bummer. and friend 4 pulled out just then coz of scared of getting beaten up. now i have about 2 possible friends coming . 1 depending on steve vai's music that i'm gonna show him today. so... so far. i'm on my own.

Generally speaking does Joe tour his albums in the UK/europe as well as the US? Have never been to a Satriani solo show, and as much as I'm looking forward to G3, I'm really hoping he'll tour Is there love in Space over here on his own too..... what are the chances?

hi joe, i got a question to ask you. Do you ever get annoyed wen ure on the phone to someone ordering stuff or somthing and u say ure joe satriani and they go. 'yea, and i'm george bush' and not beliving u. is it hard to do stuff needing your name and they simply don't belive ya. how many times has it happened? have u ever entered a music shop without anyone know who u are. and just walk around the shop looking at guitars and stuff, looking at ure own model and hear people go. 'oh wow! joe satriani's guitar, i'll love to have that' and ure standing right next to them and they don't know.
in fact have u ever walked into a music shop without having a crowd around u.or anyone notice u full stop.
can i help you sir? i see your interested in that satriani model, it uses humbuckers (gives info) would u like to try it out? if any one say's that to u joe. joke and say, nah can't afford it, i'll love to have one and ask to try it out. they follow u and then take ure disguise off and start playing dead amazing like u always do and go. hi, i'm satriani. that would be wack and funny too.

Yoda - the modulation.. you are definately hearing they right stuff so your ear is tuned into the right place.. however there is no cadencial event.. it's a much simpler trick...
the final chord heard in the 1st movement is Em and as all notes cease only a solitary note - high E - 'hangs' in isolation.. I leave the note there for enough time for you to lose all reference to the Em chord.. I then introduce the G# in the bass register [French Horn].. so what is the chord.. E and a low G# together.. the chord of E?? maybe?? maybe not??
I introduce a C# [another French Horn] and if you listen carefully you'll note that all three notes are sounding together.. the chord is C#m 2nd inv...
and the modulation is almost invisible.. why? .. no cadence.. no sudden change..

method.. I grabbed a note common to both chords and let it 'hang'.. then built the new chord around it.. a trick known to have been used by the likes of Mozart and Hydn... later used to tremendous effect by the great romantic period composers.. and then by the infamous metal composer - me.. lol..

simple and in the right setting .. you'll agree.. very effective..

so what is my point with all this?.. you'll choose the destination key for a whole variety of reasons.. you'll choose the modulation method based upon the effect / impact you want to create at the time..
and there are a whole pile of ways to change key...

wow.. nice words from Pete Callard.. very flattering indeed.. I feel all clever now.. and being dubbed "real neo-class".. for me that really hits the spot.. especially coming from someone that really knows the difference..
can you remember what track you played him?.. if any of you buddie or lecturers are interest in my stuff then I'd be interested to know.. answer queries.. etc..

thanx..
