Things NOT to Say at Your Company's Holiday Party

5> "But that can't be the boss's daughter... that's the intern I banged silly last summer at the company picnic."

4> "Hey, let's put some mistletoe over the boss' ass. That way, Johnson will finally have a decent excuse to kiss it."

3> "How do we mark 'puking in the executive bathroom' on our timesheet?"

2> "You wouldn't expect the Jews who own this place to put out such a nice Christmas spread."

and the Number 1 Thing NOT to Say at Your Company's Holiday Party...

1> "'Cameltoe,' 'mistletoe.' What's the difference?"

I remember the time Uncle Rick brought back some meat from his deer-hunting trip and joked that he and his buddies shot Rudolph and took him to the locker for processing. We all had a good laugh over dinner -- but things got mighty quiet later when cousin Rudy never came home.

Zinc Master I know you like jokes, so here's a good one.

A young brunette is with her doctor and says that her whole body hurts, wherever she touches it. "That's impossible", the doctor reacts, "show me".

She touches her elbow with her finger and screams of pain. She pushes her finger against her knea and yells, touches her ankle and screams; in this way it continues some time. Everywhere she touches her body, it hurts.

The doctor says: "You are not a natural brunette, are you?"

"No", she says, "originally I am blond".

"I already thought so", the doctor says, "your finger is broken".

Joe the man... nice to see you taking part in the T2J community lately...

Feel free anytime, I mean it's your site...LOL

Gawd if I had a website with my name sake on it, I'd be on there everyday like I am now ;) , I might not always post but it's set up as my home page...

It's been a long time since I've listened to any of your older stuff, say like SWTA or FIABD or even NOTE and maybe even Dreaming #11, I just have to say that since I bought The Electric Joe Satriani any of those tracks that appear on that CD have never sounded better... especially on my SONY XPLOD car system... sweet, sweet sounding tones... that's all I have to say about that... you've inspired me all over again, taking new meaning in playing the guitar that is... or even everyday functionality...LOL

Peace Joe, your the best...

Barrie

Cuthbert & Namm Man I'll be in touch once I've got the overall design sorted, so thanx for the offers guys it'd be really cool if ya' could give us a hand on this :-)

Optical Studio :-) that was the nicest post ever, thankyou a bunch. That really made my day...even more so than getting "Goodfellas" and "American History X" on dvd off my bestest friends lol.

I wish you the best, my sister used to have seizures, they were brought on by stress though, she's alright now though thank God, it was really quite scary for me...must've been even scarier for her, I simply can't comprehend what you must be going through.

The other great thing that happened today, happened just now, I 'accidentally' played one of my favourite songs with out actually knowing it, and I checked it on a tab and its right...that and it sounds right. It was Alice In Chains - "Nutshell"...great song, lovely chord progression :-)

Take care man

Suzie, to be pedantic, I didn't mean any harm to pp0 but it didn't stop him getting all juvenile on me....I just responded in an equal manner. Sorry, I know it's the "season of good will", but I'm not in the mood for disrespect.

I bet you're happy term has finished! have you got much work to do over the break, like marking work? Hope you enjoy a good chance to relax, and yeah, roll out the red wine! hehe

Was quite pleased with my sister by the way, she bought me an early Christmas present (which I can't listen to yet, ) a CD of Dream Theater's Images and Words. I haven't been into them all that long by the way! But I LOVE them and wish I heard them years ago.

SteeveT - AMEX - very very nice groove indeed.. nice and 'lazy' as all great grooves are.... you have a really nice sound too.... you play very well... a nice blend of licks, space, long notes and bending etc.. so it all sounds nice and balanced.. your playing style sounds mature and well established... you have some nice licks too.....

critique points:-
1-> the lead guitar is a little buried in the mix and swamped with delay.... so there is a loss of definition... you had two choices... keep the delay the same and push the guitar further forward in the mix [ but run the risk of all the stuff generated by the delay swamping the mix] or back off on the delay a little and nudge the guitar a little higher in the mix [which is my person choice]
most guys that I know that pull the lead guitar low in the mix and swamp it with delay do so for one of two reasons; 1- because thay or personally not confident in their playing [even if they happen to be shit hot], 2- because they are hiding nasties in their playing....
to me you exhibit neither of those attributes.. so I guess you just liked it that way.... although I personally think it does your playing no favours [cos you're a very nice player...
2-> scale choice: you opted for the natural minor over a groove such ass this.... "no way"... "way"... "no way"... "yes way dude"..... in my view this was not the best choice.... The Dorian mode would have been so much cooler... occasionally you did some tremolo picking and hit that minor 6th from the natural minor.... purely in the interests of science, try jamming over the backing track again the same way.. but this time hitting the major 6th from the Dorian mode... it'll sound so much brighter....
personally, over a groove that is that static from a chord progression and key point of view, I'd have used a shit lot of parallel modulation to introduce greater tonal content... check out Still Dre, and PRM's Boxter [album 3] from my IUMA site and you'll see what I mean.... 3->content: you are clearly jamming from start to finish... that's great.. it really suits the vibe of the whole thing... but during the fade that track started going somewhere else... somewhere very interesting.... why didn't you do that sooner and use it to break up the groove into sections... that way it'd be easier for you to treat each groove section differently thereby introducing new thematic meterial at each successive pass... this makes it much more interesting for the listener... also.. this thematic introduction is more difficult with a single big slab of groove because you'll be inclined to find the comfort zone and sit there..... this is dangerous for a long improve because you'll stop composing on the fly and end up firing of your whole lick vocabulary without significant any compositional value... guys like Zappa and Steve How are great compositional improvisational soloists... it's quite an art and involves the development of themes and ideas throughout the solo... very tough.... but worth learning how to do....

overall I liked it greatly... but from the soloing point of view I suspect that there is more in you than you're showing in this track... I think that if you broke up the groove with that ascending idea during the fade, and approached the solo from a slightly different angle, then you'd get more out of the song... and therefore more out of yourself...

Hey Zenfish ! Cool to see your post. (Sorry, I prefer to answer in English, not to loose my training... But be sure I'm sooo proud to live in our good ol' Land ha !)

It seems you highlight a crucial point. Yes I always had that kind of "chameleon" style. Creation is a lifetime processus. I have a very precise idea in mind of what the music i want to do sounds like. But a very few of my compostions sighllty approach this goal.

You know I'm 24, and I really don't claim to be musically mature. Genius or rehash ? You choose, not me... not us, I should say.

That's true that the song you are talkin'bout, myjeff beck' tribute, is close as possible to his style. That was the goal. I will upoload ASAP works with my bands, with vocals, and this sure will sound more personal. But will that REALLY be the kind of music I want to hear mmmhh ?

I appreciate people like Joe Jackson, who can do A LOT of styles, but their own music include little by little different ingredients, all along their discography. By hearing Jackson's firsts records, you can't tell that this man could have written an intelligent symphony 15 years later...

The idea of the Rite Of Spring is a kind of accomplishment for me. I spent long hours to make my mother crazy by making guitar noises at home. This is a way to o"organize them". I promise you that when this adventure will be finished and published, I'll do something different !

All musician of this earth can die happy if they find "that little thing" that only belong to them.

Thanks for you constructive criticism.

Beedoo.

Beedoo's site

P.S : Joe, if you make comments about my music, I promise I'll ran across Place St Michel (Paris) all naked with 2or3 friends, and will send you the photos !!!!!

Stevee T......I managed to have a more concentrated listen to your tunes today and I may have underestimated you. "Letting it all hang out" was'nt exactly a mental image I need to see..lol....but you do in fact tear it up on Amex. And "Paris Blue" is super cool !
