Hey Professor. Really like the homepage teaser!!! Guaranteed I will be back for the podcasts and the new CD release. The last two discs have been consciousness altering experiences and, from the few details that have been leaked about PS, this looks like a sure thing too so I can't wait to rock. The podcasts are an especially nice touch for those of us who are curious about the production side of things or really just want to get inside these tracks. I am beginning to wonder if you aren't hiding subliminal messages in your podcasts (are you?) because when I saw that you were releasing new music I began to drool uncontrollably. All kidding aside, thank you for injecting some excitement back into the guitar world and providing some great new music to chase those Canadian winter blahs away and get me thinking about summer. Keep on re-writing the rules and we will try to keep up. Any chance we will see you back in Canada this summer, maybe Bluesfest, Ottawa in July (just throwing that out there to the universe)?

joe... i've been an avid fan for decades - i remember hearing dreaming #11 on a friends stereo within days of its release and being hooked on that sound - then it was flying in a blue dream and you were my god. i was in a minneapolis audience back in 1989 as an impressionable 16 year old seeing you enter the stage with strobe lights to the intro of 'flying' - this was my life - music was it - i went to music school because of you, i studied with some of the best - you've had an enormous impact on my life. however... you're greatest inspiration is jimi hendrix - an icon of his time - an epiphany who could easily describe the pain of the times with 'machine gun', and chanted 'with the power, of soul, anything is possible', and climb people out of the depths of their depressions - a revolution was in the air. here we are in the second half of the first decade of the 21st century, dealing with a paralleled universe to the vietnam war and we get "professor satchafunkalis..."?? first of all, i am an optimist, and i hope to be proven wrong, and the last thing i want to do is piss you off... i know you've never been one to preach... but, here we are, in a world of uncertainty, should we be at war, should we let our bullets fly like rain, or should "we" be concerned with our bottom lines, pull out of this god forsaken war, re-build our economy, stop worrying about foreclosures and bill collectors and praise "satchafunkalis"?? i want to say this in as benign and potently as possible but, WTF?? unfortunately, i expected something more of substance from the guy i have held in such a lofty place in my heart for more than half my life. i feel terrible thinking this, and i hope to god the first hearing of the new album changes my mind - but for some reason i felt compelled in posting my thoughts as is. if i catch hell for it, i really don't give a shit... people are dying, the world is in crazy turmoil, i need guidance from the musicians i hold in my heart to be 'true to their spirits'. i'm a huge doors fan and that phrase is written in greek on jim morrison's grave. i talked to robby krieger about how awesome you are just months prior to you jamming with him at the 'particle' show - i still wonder if i had a small part in arranging that. i feel there is so much you have to offer this shitty little world that for some reason the title of your new album has jaded me so. like i said, i hope to be proven wrong - you are in so many ways the bright light at the end of a tunnel of tradgedies. i hate posting anything negative, but my honest response to the very core of my being is that this record is not in sync with the uncertainty and fear that lie within so many of your fans. we are mere mortals... you are our god in so many ways... we need inspiration. i'm voting in a way that inspires me. mccain's for a 100 year war and is abso-fuckin'-lutely an extension of a failed bush administration - hillary is an extension of old school politics that we need to sever ties from... is obama the answer? some may say no, but god dammit, that's where my vote is. he is change, he is a break from the norm, and god forbid, he is inspiration. that's all anybody really needs, is inspiration. perhaps my 2 decade long inspiration with satchafunkalis has been temporarily interrupted, but i hope to regain that. joe, for god's sake, record that record of hendrix songs, feel and record your roots, give us something to believe in, we're all jaded by the negativity of this holy war, we feel it every day, with our minds and our pocket books... i just want to feel it with the guy that always made sense to me no matter what. god bless you, screw the grammy's, stay true to your spirit, give it to us the only way you know how, but keep pushing that initial inspiration you felt with jimi's music... it's transcendant, there's meaning to it, we've just lost the ability to decipher it, that's all. ...many thanks. ~bill

I've been listening to Led Zeppelin's In Through The Out Door quite a bit lately. It's usually toward the bottom of most people's LZ lists, but if I were to rank their albums right now it'd probably be somewhere in the middle. If you have it, give it a spin and let me know what you think...

gruskada - I have a feeling Joe made a mistake when he said there will only be 1,000 CD+DVD versions of the album. If it were truly that limited I think we'd have more information about just how to get it.

I think 10,000 copies seems much more likely, especially with the distribution deals Joe has. I mean, you can find his CDs in Best Buy...and there are more than 1,000 Best Buy stores in the US so 1,000 special editions isn't even enough for one per store (not to mention all of the other CD stores that would carry the album).

I don't even think it'd be a "only available at Guitar Center" thing, because 1,000 CDs spread over the 11 stops would only be about 90 copies per store...and I expect these things to be much more crowded.

Also, I had an aftershow pass to the G3 show in LA last year and brought my copy of Additional Creations for Joe and Jeff to sign. The album was 7 years old then, but still the first thing Joe told me was that he was so disappointed with the way the bonus disc giveaway was handled. So I doubt he'd go through that situation again.

And, if I may ask, what makes you want to leave here? I've always enjoyed your posts. If you're fed up maybe just take a break for a bit...but please don't delete your account; you've posted a lot of useful information over the years.

Crystal Jammer - Wow...it's been eight years since AC/DC's Stiff Upper Lip came out? I'm getting old...that still seems like it was just yesterday.
cheese101 - I forgot I took you and Chris to In-N-Out as well. And now that I'm typing this, I remember that I took marimariSRV there when she was in town for NAMM a few years back. Hmmm...I guess that's what I do when T2Jers come to visit.

We definitely need to catch a show together when Joe does a proper US tour. I'll definitely see any LA-area shows he does, but I also think it'd be cool to drive up to San Francisco again or maybe even catch a Reno show...I've never been there. Hopefully I can make a vacation work.

And about my job, "twice the work for the same pay" is kinda misleading. The journalism industry sucks right now, and over the past year or so I've had a smaller and smaller workload. So it's a big change now because it's doubled, but it's only a little bit more than maybe what it should be. I guess all it means is I have less downtime. Still though...change would be very nice.

aussieRGman - I sent you a friend request.

...Austin...

Clarky:wayaye mon, tis the only way t tackle herLogic Pro looks incredible, i may be converted when i get some extra cash t play with, although i,m seriously impressed with the recording quality of PT i,m likewise unimpressed with various aspects, there are serious probs that need addressed with LE, if you use for eg a drum prog say DFH you have t go t setup/playback engine & increase the buffer size t accommodate the multisamples ok no prob until you go t playback n overdub a guitar part & you have a lovely quarter second latency issue t wrestle with, the way i,ve overcome this is by recording all my guitar parts first with the sample size down at its lowest, rec guitar t click then add the sampled stuff later, like buildin a house from the top down! also Digidesign need their knuckles wrapped for not including enough plug ins for LE, ie a decent noise reduction for crisakes, if y want em ya got t buy em, feckin criminal i tells yer, however as i posted t Ken thankfully fxpansion have made a program to convert VST plug ins to RTAS mac so my prob is now solved...well until i get the software i dunno but i guess...the results after all this are however incredible sounding but *sigh* what a gibber

Ken:Tell ya what bud i have the Waves plug ins for PTHD that work perfect on my old cakewalk & cubase setup & they ARE pro, if i can convert them t work for mac & it bypasses that bastard creation Mr ILOK with no probs, i,ll post a cd for ya, i,ve been simmering over this issue for some time, exploiting the creative musician n suckin their bank acc dry is in the past, clever marketing but Digibollox can suck it, i,m also tired of spending my time weeding through the registration process of every plug in i want t use, ill be in touch bro

edit>just realised Ken this may not be able t convert from VST Windows platform t RTAS mac....F********CK, i,m goin t the pub

Do the Stu:lol Jap humour is the bollox, theres some excellent stuff out on Y Tube, good t see ya around again btw

I'm hoping that the preorderers will get first crack at them, after all as someone else said, we'd be better off just going to the record store on day 1 instead of waiting "7-9" days for it to come in the mail, there has to be SOME kind of incentive to preorder, doesn't there?! I'm gonna be GREEN with envy on April Fool's day when everyone else is already listening to the album & I'm still waiting for Mr. Postman to bring me mine (that is if he isn't a Satch fan & my copy mysteriously goes "missing") so.. here's hoping that my preorder will pay off afterall & that I don't just learn a lesson about not using Amazon anymore. I still can't figure out why Joe & camp are so tight-lipped about the whole thing, there hasn't been any information really at all.

Clarky ~ just read the post about explaining modes. i teach for a living at the moment and you would not beleive the amount of teachers i see explaining modes the first way you were describing....it drives me crazy cause modse are so easy to understand if you deliver the information the second way. i think having ppl show them as the derivative is like punching the student in the face and asking them not to understand them as their own invidividual...self employed entitities to music.

good post ~

and yah man it's been awhile. you know me :) kinda just floatin a long doin my thing! naturally witha guitar in hand ~ nursing my carpal tunnel atm. the inflamation is gettin pretty bad these days but i'm doin what ever i can to avoid surgery. heh i always thought playin 8 hours a day was good for me!

Matt K:yes sir, you, wizard, clarky & others but Eloquent comes t mind with Clarky, i sound like a wafflin baffoon in comparison, i have great respect for Paul who clearly is able to explain everything in a simple manner, kudos t him.If i were t explain the language every player N E S W would flame me lol, thats the reason i,ve held back from introducing my ideas & feeding them t the sharks on You Tube....ya gotta know how t talk about the turf even if ya know it!

March 18th, slan is scared t open the box of worms again, met some savage old peeps at the bar tho, amazing how the history of the civil war was seen from Galicia, Basco, Catalunya & Madrid dunno if goin t the bar was a good plan, now i get more questions than answers lol

more important tho is this brace tight peeps....its goin t be a rough ride!

MJK....I hear beer is better for you than cheese sammiches....you could get one of those beer hats with the straws in them and just suck it down without any effort....whereas cheese sammiches, you have to keep lifting up to your mouth for bites. No wonder you have carpal tunnel......trust me, dump the sammiches and drink beer from a hat.....that will cure whatever ails you :)

It's strange....now I kind of get what it means to be seeing and living life through a "veil". So odd....people around me want me to be what I used to be...I know it would make them more comfortable and am trying to put a face on and pretend for their sakes...but it's not real inside me. I remember that person very well but can't seem to find her anymore. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

What did I get myself into, I've been feeling a bit beat up, with working full time, and school full time, not to mention domestic duties that come with being a parent. So my wife thinks I might be loosing myself in the mix. So I was looking for something to shake me out of it. my solution is a concert this Friday in portland. Going to see "BlackTide, The Days The Nights, StoneCreep and El Cerdo", I liked some of the stuff for StoneCreep, what motivated me to go to this show was actually BlackTide.

Heeeyy Joe... Just curious, where did you get the name for the Satchurator pedal? I was wondering if you had seen my post awhile back suggesting that you call it the "Satchuration" pedal and modified the name. Don't wanna give myself any false credit though, but I was pretty stoked when I saw the name for the pedal revealed! Let me know if you get a chance. Can't wait for the new album! Best wishes.
