Good morning all,
This week has been a nightmare... I'm SO behind on sleep. Killing me... but anyways, hope you're all doing better than I am right now.
ovation1 - Thanks again for the support, brother!! I'll be sure to post the CD release info on here as well as my own site. Hopefully everybody else is cool with that. : )
Satriella - Yeah, don't get me wrong, Steve is a really nice guy and very talented, but I'm just a much bigger Satch fan and Satch's music has been much more influential on my own playing style than Steve's. I'm really not sure if he's ever posted on his site. I know he definitely hasn't in the forum I was in, but there are about a dozen on there, so maybe he has. I honestly haven't checked.
alter_ego_of_joe - Hey man, thank you very much for the compliments!! I love getting feedback from people... good or bad (although I prefer the good... LOL).
As for your question, I assume you're interested in a double locking system, meaning the guitar has a locking mechanism where the neck meets the headstock, and at the tremolo. Your best bet is to look into buying a guitar that's been manufactured like that... check out Ibanez and Jackson guitars on musiciansfriend.com... there are a lot of the kind you want from those manufacturers. You could also go to a luthier and ask them what it would cost to convert your existing guitar, but that may cost a lot more than just buying a new one. Another thing, use at least 10 gauge strings... 9's tend to go out of tune very quickly (at least with the way I beat on them), even with the double-locking system. Hope that helps... if not, let me know and I'll try to clear things up for you. Thanks again!

Michelle, when acquiring a new feline, how do you ensure that the chosen critter will tolerate music at an ear bleeding volume?? Like say a child practicing bass guitar or Pantera housekeeping music? Just wondering....
Good luck on the search...

alter_ego_of_joe - Another thing I just thought of... you can try tuning your guitar a whole step down and then throwing a capo on the 2nd fret... I've never actually tried something like that, but it might work... it's definitely the least expensive of the options I gave you. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

MEMORIES
A little house with three bedrooms and one car on the street,
A mower that you had to push to make the grass look neat.
In the kitchen on the wall we only had one phone, And no
need for recording things, someone was always home.
We only had a living room where we would congregate,
Unless it was at mealtime in the kitchen where we ate.
We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine,
When meeting as a family those two rooms would work
out fine.
We only had one TV set, and channels maybe two, But
always there was one of them with something worth
the view.
For snacks we had potato chips that tasted like a chip,
And if you wanted flavor there was Lipton's onion dip.
Store-bought snacks were rare because my mother liked
to cook, And nothing can compare to snacks in Betty
Crocker's book.
Weekends were for family trips or staying home to play,
We all did things together -- even go to church to pray.
When we did our weekend trips depending on the weather,
No one stayed at home because we liked to be together.
Sometimes we would separate to do things on our own,
But we knew where the others were without our own
cell phone.
Then there were the movies with your favorite movie star,
And nothing can compare to watching movies in your car.
Then there were the picnics at the peak of summer season,
Pack a lunch and find some trees and never need a reason.
Get a baseball game together with all the friends you know,
Have real action playing ball -- and no game video.
Remember when the doctor used to be the family friend,
And didn't need insurance or a lawyer to defend?
The way that he took care of you or what he had to do,
Because he took an oath and strived to do the best for
you.
Remember going to the store and shopping casually, And
when you went to pay for it you used your own money?
Nothing that you had to swipe or punch in some amount,
Remember when the cashier person had to really count?
The milkman used to go from door to door, And it was just
a few cents more than going to the store.
There was a time when mailed letters came right to your
door, Without a lot of junk mail ads sent out by every
store.
The mailman knew each house by name and knew where it
was sent; There were not loads of mail addressed to
"present occupant."
There was a time when just one glance was all that it
would take, And you would know the kind of car, the
model and the make.
They didn't look like turtles trying to squeeze out every
mile; They were streamlined, white walls, fins, and
really had some style.
One time the music that you played whenever you would
jive, Was from a vinyl, big-holed record called a forty-five.
The record player had a post to keep them all in line, And
then the records would drop down and play one at a time.
Oh sure, we had our problems then, just like we do today,
And always we were striving, trying for a better way.
Oh, the simple life we lived still seems like so much fun,
How can you explain a game, just kick the can and run?
And why would boys put baseball cards between bicycle
spokes, And for a nickel red machines had little bottled
Cokes?
This life seemed so much easier and slower in some ways,
I love the new technology but I sure miss those days.
So time moves on and so do we, and nothing stays the same,
But I sure love to reminisce and walk down memory lane.
Much credit to the person who put this together, whoever it was.

B.B. King Plans One More World Tour
LOS ANGELES - While other 80-year-olds might dust off their rockers, blues dynamo B.B. King will be rocking and rolling when he launches what he says will be his final world tour later this year.
King will begin an international "Farewell Tour" in March, part of a domestic tour that starts Feb. 16 in Chicago, King's publicist, Jerry Digney, said in a news release Wednesday.
King said he will continue to make U.S. concert appearances after the tour.
"I hardly remember I'm 80 unless I have to run up a hill or stairs," the singer and guitarist said . "As long as people buy my records and come to my concerts, I don't see anything else I'd like to do."
King has toured every year for 60 years, Digney said Thursday.
The musician celebrated his 80th birthday in September and released an album, "B.B. King & Friends — 80," featuring Eric Clapton, Elton John, Sheryl Crow and other musicians.
A $10 million B.B. King museum is slated to open later this year in the Grammy winner's native Mississippi.
"I think the clock is ticking, yes," King said. "In fact, I know it is. Frank Sinatra sang about the September of (his) years. I think I'm in the November of my years."

iPods pre-loaded with video tred legal gray zone
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - A tiny Massachusetts company named TVMyPod is selling iPods that come with movies and TV programs already loaded on them, a practice that raises questions of legality as it addresses consumer demand for convenience and portability.
Customers choose any content currently available on a DVD and which iPod they want. TVMyPod then puts the content on the player and ships the original DVDs along with the iPod restored to its original packaging.
TVMyPod co-founder Vijay Raghavan said most people don't have the time or the technology to convert DVDs into the iPod's required format, which is what gave him and his business partner the idea to start the service.
DVDs have copy protection on them, however, and under the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act it is illegal to bypass that technology. Raghavan said his company's process does not involve decryption.
He added that moving the content onto the device is a one-way transfer, which since the purchaser gets both the original and the copy is legal under the fair use provisions of the U.S. Copyright Act.
"It's kind of an obsolete law since Congress was not taking into consideration portability," Raghavan said. "These players are exploding on the market, but the legality of it can sometimes be in a gray area."
TVMyPod is not charging for its services yet, so customers pay only the actual cost of the iPod and whatever the price is on Amazon.com for their chosen DVDs.
Raghavan said TVMyPod will set prices when it rolls out its next offerings, which will include consumers sending in their own iPod and possibly a subscription service to keep the content refreshed.

Wow! Blue and green in the same day, sweet :-)
Hello everybody!
Well, I will be seeing Deep Purple tomorrow night in my city. It would be cool to see the rejuvenated Purple with Steve Morse & Don Airey :-)
marimariSRV, first of all, congratulations on your upcoming website! I can't wait to see some of your great pictures,
specially the ones of Joe and Steve of course! Mari, I'll send you my list of Satch/Vai stuff soon...probably this weekend,
we'll keep in touch.
Satriella/DC Slater, I'm a member of Vai's board too. Steve does post on his site but less often than Joe. In fact, if you
take a look at the memberlist, he has posted 17 times and Joe 55 in the same period of time. Joe wins ;-)
Keniko, thank you, hugs back! :-)
bahduh, I hope you are getting better, this time you have mail! take care :-)
alexandrecaetano, Alexandre, you have mail, I will be looking forward to getting the package, thanks for everything :-)
jonnyw, same feeling, it's cool :-)
Hmmm...Joe is keeping the mistery about the nature of his new work...
Song of the day: The Enigmatic by Joe Satriani ;-)

Mr Joe Satriani - I'd really like to send you a CD of Roy www.roymarchbank.com Mr Vai and Mr MacAlpine have their copies but I'd really like to send one to you as well. I sent Mr Vai's to his home but if you have a PO box etc. I'd be happy to send it there - really want you to hear it.
I can't wait for the new album. Your music has changed through the years but always has the essential Joe at the core. I have met you on at least 10 occasions. I actually sat in your cab chatting to Stu and Jeff while you were signing autographs in Glasgow one time and Greg Bisonnette asked me for a ride as he was sick after an Edinburgh show. I first met you 15 years ago! it seems like yesterday. Your music is still as warm and moving as ever.

ovation - Hey man!!! I'm all good thanks; hope you are too! I heard that the CD is nearly done, which is cool. It'll be great to be on this one, since I was so bummed I missed out on the first one!!!! I spoke to Clarky just before Christmas but not since. He said he was uber-busy at work, since one of his colleagues left which meant he got lumbered with an extra work load!!! He also mentioned somehting abou the album being very close to completion, but that's top secret information and if I tell you I would have to kill you... lmao
DCK - Hey man. How much longer til the T2J CD's out, do you reckon?

mikesb, well, when we go to see the kitties, they usually have them in the front of the store by the doors. These days people bring their dogs into pet stores, and let's not forget the excited loud children. If I happen to be holding a kitty who makes an attempt do a quick bypass surgery on my chest with it's claws when a loud child or dog walks by, I'll have the slight inkling that it might not be the kitty for my house. As for my son practicing his bass, he usually does that up in his room with his headphones on. It's the full out band ya gotta watch out for. They've been coming over 3 days a week, and holy crap are they loud! lol! My son's friends know the meaning of high energy rock - and a double bass pedal. lol! My husband has sound boards on the walls to soak up some of the volume, and we close the basement door, but it still shakes the house. When we get the new kitty, there won't be any band practice here for a least a week till he gets settled in. It won't be a quiet environment, but I also won't be trying to get a cats claws out of my ceiling - or worse....pants leg! I hope.......
