OCPS470, wow, I'll happily admit to being baffled and perplexed! Are you using a hotplate with the JSX? Oops, having now read the discussion on it, it looks like you've got a rough idea on it anyway. What could cause a failure in the capacitors though?

ovation1, yeah the track listing on Paul The Young Dude is great, although I'd love to have seen "Vinyl" on there! hehe. King Of Clubs is still my favourite, but I have yet to get Alligator Farm so I'm remaining open-minded! Hmmm, I really hope your MW arrives soon.....did you order just the 1st album or did you go for Furnished Souls' as well?
kayla, that'd be "Martini"
Joe, please, set the wheels moving dude, get Mari Crouse on the list for photographer passes! I don't know how much of her work you've seen and whether or not you'll remember it, but I garuantee that any time you have seen prints of Mari's shots you'll have been impressed.

If you get Mari on the list you'll have to look no further for top-notch, spanking new photos which would be suited perfectly to promotional material.

Satriella, Steve Vai talks about this on an audio commentary somewhere.....it was either on the "Live At The Astoria" DVD, or, more likely, on the Hidden Interview Disc in the "Secret Jewel Box".

He was basically saying that it costs the Japanese more money to buy the albums that are available to the rest of us for pretty reasonable prices.

I think they have to pay for the rights to production or something, so rather than importing a few billion dollars worth of CD's every year from the rest of the world, it's easier to pay for the rights to produce it on home soil.

Anyway, whatever way they get their music, it's pretty expensive for them, so as a gesture, as a small offering to give something back, they are given bonus tracks available to them only. So along with the right to produce and sell copies of "Is There Love In Space?", for example, they are given special dispensation to put Dog With Crown And Earring (and Tumble, I presume) on the track listing.

It's actually very fair, and I think this makes it equally fair that we generally have to pay twice as much for a Japanese import as we would for a normal global market product. They had to pay through the nose to hear it in the first place, so we should have to as well if we want to hear the tracks that are, effectively, a 'gift' to them!

Still, I really wish this fact would be made more clear, because it's the Japanese who always seem to wind up getting abuse for it, even though it's not their fault!

bahduh, wow, that's great to read that you talked with Stevie last night! Thanks for sharing.....will you be talking with him again any time soon, do you think?
edit:

nedley95, welcome Ned! Aww, you're a one lucky little dude, I'd love to be going to all of Joe's shows when he's here - I'm going to two, let me know if you fancy meeting up with some fellow fans before the Bournemouth show!

Rock on!

Satriella.............actually I grew up outside of NYC and spent most of my childhood on a horse farm that my grandparents owned. It was a show farm, kids camp and many people boarded there horses there. I fed them, cleaned them, rode them and shoveled there "road apples" as we called em and lived the life of a country kid for many years. But being only 75 minutes from Manhattan I got to enjoy both worlds. My wife is from Queens (GO METS) so she showed me the city in a way I never imagined;>). I agree the country life is great, but to experience a bit of both is cool. I could live in the city for the conveniences and being able to walk to things with ease but waking up at 5 am to feed horses hay, oats and warm molasses now that can't be beat.

Holmes...........Bit of a boring story really but I was wondering just how small this world is. I googled an old aquaintance from about 20 years ago to see if he had 'made it' in the biz. He threw his lot in with Beki Bondage at the time in pursuit of fame and fortune. Anyhow, they are still together as Vice Squad and someone from London called Suzette had made a post on their site. So I wondered........blah blah boring yawn!

And that's the short version!

God Bless all those affected by the Egyptian Resort Bombings. What kind of heartless, soulless animals can get satisfaction out of doing such horrific acts? It's sickening. Absolutely sickening!

Satriella: I was going to explain the cd issue here, but Simon pretty much got it covered! ;-)

bahduh: Thanks for passing along the info on Steven!.... It's great to hear that you got in touch with him....

962: lol bro, Alligator Farm is great also, and there are plenty of tracks to get lost in!!.... Although, I'd have to say that KOC is my fave too cause of the raw live sound, but there are some great classical pieces on AF, plus the Spice Girls Two Become One.... lol, I just cant let the computer in my head decide!! ;-) BTW, I'm only getting the first MW album and I'm going to get FSFR on the next order.... Cant wait!!....

Webmaster Jon Luini: Can you hook up Mari Crouse with some photopasses?!?!.... She's working on her 7th Satch show this tour, and she's a real pro, Joe deserves the best!!....

....Wow, didnt hear about the Egyptian resort bombings.... What a sad day, I pray they find out who did it....

_____________________________________________________________

Guitar players do need to find their own voice on the instrument. Its the same with a lot of bands. Bands dont get signed cos they want to be just like their peers. Its a good starting point to learn songs from people you like but a lot of new bands suffer from what I call Steel Dragon syndrome or Tribute band syndrome if you are not familiar with the Steel Dragon movie.

Thats why I'm especially turned on by musicians witjh unique voices. Thats why I like Joe amongst others. You sound like you are looking for that individuality and have the right attitude. It takes years of playing to find it. I'm not beeing big headed but have found this through years of teaching.

I've found myself more turned on by Jazz fusion because of these qualities lately. Check out the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Mclaughlin uses some strange but beatiful chords and melodys and the amazing electric violin player in the band plays modal pentatonics. I listen to sax players too. Malmsteen (MR.up my own back side!!) listens to a lot of Paganini. Nuno Bettencourt was influenced by p-funk like George Clintons Parliament. Keep an open mind while looking for music.
