Hey Ignatiousman, thanks for the suggestion, I have seen an Ibanez RG Trem series here in some stores and that would be a very nice guitar to have.

Problem is my budget is around 200 euros as I live in Greece, and this Squire Strat will be about 145 euros ordered straight from the factory.

I know...thats very expensive, whereas you could probably get those for about 100-120 US dollars here in Europe everything is more expensive so I would be paying around 180 US dollars for the strat, and that's just about all I can afford.

I saw a JS 1200 in this one store and tried it out, oh man I'll never feel a nicer guitar than that. But you wanna know the price tag? 2600 euros around 5000 US dollars so yeah we get ripped off here in Europe. I don't make much money that I don't spend on necessities and so my fun savings climbs very slowly....

Anyway, thanks for the idea, I'll certainly give it some more thought, my only thing against the squire strat is it doesn't have the locking nut and so it would maybe slip out of tune easily....but oh well....

The southern region of Spain is called Andalucia. Cities like Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada are the main cities. The name comes from Al-Andalus, region inhabitated by muslims from 711 to 1492.
The roots of Flamenco are indeed in Andalucia. To its origin and evolution the contribution of gipsy etnia has been absolutely fundamental.
I'm not much into it, but I would recommend "Paco de Lucia" if you like guitar. If you would like to go deeper into it, you should search "Manolo Caracol" or "Camarón de la Isla". This last one is a modern myth of flamenco (though already passed away). People who sign flamenco are called "cantaor"

All good albums. I really like Signals, even though it's kind of a random album. They played Digital Man at the show, which was cool. Second on the setlist actually.

All that talk of U2 , I've pulled out U2 18 singles. Trouble is , I dont know what USA radio play is like but U2 get Played to oblivion over here.

Guitarman77897 - Yes, Joe uses the same guitars at each of his shows. I'm sure there's a little variation from song to song every now and then, but generally they're the same. He doesn't get guitars from local stores in each city and play them for one night only or anything like that...

It's interesting to hear you mention that. One of the bonus tracks on the remastered Boy album is a different mix by Steve Lillywhite of their single I Will Follow. It's a good mix of a good song, but it's a bit heavy on the acoustic guitar. And if I were to make a list of all of the things that make U2 U2, I don't think any of them would be present in this particular mix...very straight and simple.

In the US, the U2 songs that get the most radio airplay are, by far, the first four songs on Joshua Tree. Rock stations lean toward Where The Streets Have No Name and Bullet The Blue Sky, and pop stations play I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and With Or Without You a bit more.

Both pop and rock stations have played new U2 singles for as long as I can remember, but they tend to be forgotten once the next one comes around. Beautiful Day and One have had some staying power though.

Rock stations do play a lot of older U2 fairly regularly. I hear Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Year's Day, and Bad a lot on KLOS here in LA.

Regarding Rush, I can't recommend just one album. Go for Moving Pictures if you're feeling proggy, Signals or Hold Your Fire if you want keyboard-heavy Rush, and Counterparts if you want more straight-ahead rock. Enjoy! And let us know what you think...

Revan- I'd recommend Moving Pictures; that has several of their biggest hits on it. 2112 is considered their first masterpiece, and a definitive album. There's also a "best of" kind of a thing; either Retrospective is great.

Stu- I've heard good things about Washburns. I have a white Steve Vai signature that I bought very barely used for $400. I saw the ad and jumped on the opportunity.

I got Explosions in the Sky too after reading posts here, and I like it alot. I listen to music as I'm cooking and it's a good band to have on when I have friends around (and I'm preparing them food) who aren't necessarily into rock music.

What else have I been buying....well I got Damn Yankees (self titled first one) and Night Ranger, although I haven't listened to that much yet. And I also got Elgars 'The enigma variations'. Who here likes a bit of classical?

I also got 'Within Temptation' (The heart of everything) given to me by a guy who is a promoter and is responsible for bringing 'Thunder' over to Northern Ireland twice, the first time paying them £650 ha ha. He said within two years they were headlining along with Iron Maiden!!

Anyway, Within Temptation is a great band..would recommend them.

WOW, surprised anyone remembered me, it has been so long since I have been able to post here.

I have been back and forth to Alaska a couple of times now, been here for 4 months on this tour, and look to be here maybe another year or so. I am doing contract work, and it gets rather cold up here at times. I do however have my axe ;-) I will fly out of here, if a major war starts however, (watch Damascus) and go home to family, I have that in my contract.

I flew home to Louisiana for a visit, and did a gig with my old band mates, I miss the hell out of that!!! We did a grand opening for a Bass Pro Shop, about 8,000 people came through that day, biggest crowd I have ever played for. They were dancing and having a good time of it.

Elton John played two sold out shows in Anchorage about a month ago and Kansas is performing at the Alaskan State Fair, late this month. Other than these events not many big named bands come this way. I did however see an all chick AC/DC tribute band, and they kicked ass, they were called “Hells Bells”. Check them out if you haven’t already.

I am hoping to entice Mr. Satriani to consider Anchorage on a leg of his next North American extravaganza, “SO HOWS ABOUT IT JOE”!!! Anchorage will love ya, lots of rockers there, and they love the blues too.

Hey Joe, did you have to adjust your playing any, after you got married and started playing with a wedding ring? Did it have an affect on your playing?

I was reading where Joe let Michelle work the whammy bar on his guitar, how cool is that?!?!!!, I thought she was married though ;-) Any pictures I wonder?

I shook both of Joe's hands at the same time once, I call this the Blessing of the Hands, I've done it with Uncle Ted, and Rick Derringer, Buddy Guy, and a few others, hopefully some of Joe's ability rubbed off.

Oh cheesey, that Cryin' vid had me gobsmacked again, just can't get enough of his heartfelt tunes. Clicked thru to the vid and explained it to the kids (Oh Mum not another Joe Satriani song!) and they were riveted. Mind you, the only comment after that was "Wow, is he 50??????".

Ibanezguitars, my sister- and brother-in-law play and sing "flamenco" (not what they call it, my term) and they do a whole show of Lorca's songs, which is awesome.

I've been wondering what Satch might do with Lorca's songs, after hearing "Asik Vesyel' and "Andalusia" on PSAMOR.
