ovation - yeah, you can definately hear the the guy has one eye on the 'charts' and one eye on his serious creativity..

I'd love to hear more of him just doing his own thing.. the true old - modern fussion..
but at the end of the day I guess he has to eat like the rest of us - hense the commercial stuff...

when he puts his mind to it he's quite an interesting writer..

So, my trip to Holland next week has been postponed... woohoo.. more time in the studio for me....

with a fair wind, the Raft backing with be down by the end of this week..
next week.. RG... Raft backing.... and the guitar equivalent of Basai Dai .............. Yoi ! ! !

Addam - wow... I'm honoured..

to be listed among those that have ripped off your tunes..
Satch
Vai
Hendrix
to name but a few...

to become a member of the few means more to me than getting a grammy...

wow.. what can I say... I'm almost in tears...

but first I'd like to thank, Brian my luthier, the guys at Chandlers Guitars, Barry my PR man, Ube, Mike [ovation], Pat in Brighton, Maria and Huib, my wife for her support, my mom and god... and most of all I'd like to thanks my fan Ga6e [I owe you a beer for liking my music]..

hey, i was just curious if anyone on here would be willing to support me and the guys in COE by joining our mailing list. it's just a monthly newsletter to keep people up to date with what we're doing and all...

i'm really not gonna be posting demos here anymore, rather on the mailing list so i don't take up space and all with some tunes, and the the feedback that tends to follow! The feedback is amazing, but I have gotten my fair share out of the t2j space and would like to just have the people that are really interested check out the tunes!

If you're interested, please email your email address over to mattking@courseofevolution.com...thanks guys!

OCPS470,

I "regularly" took lessons for about three months back in December. Around March/April, Stu reclaimed his weekends to be with his family more, but offered to have me drop by his place for a lesson every now and then. This last lesson would've been that time, but it kept falling through for about a month (but there'll still be a clinic, which is probably even cooler, public-wise!)

Stu's lessons were never really big on theory, apart from bass line possibilities... most of it was just integrated (since I knew more than enough theory to do what was needed, it wasn't really discussed, just used). The cool stuff was really the technical exercises; although I can slap and tap fairly well, my fingerstyle was never all that fast or clean, he had some really helpful exercises there. Even though I bring up the technical stuff, Stu is really a groove player; so much of what we did would be going through charts with a metronome, then analyzing what we played, what worked, what didn't, why, and stuff like that. That was usually the first half of the lesson (warm-ups, technical stuff, things Stu had me do). The second half was usually my time where I'd ask questions about stuff I was working on or how to play a certain song Stu had played.

OME:hey dude, regarding your question on who was at the San Francisco DVD, I was at the show, and was hanging over the left corner of the stage the whole time, except maybe the last couple songs. There are a couple really close up shots where I made it on camera,(the best one being in the last section of the first song "Time") and you can see me if you look closely throughout the video. I was really stoked when I got the video, and saw my buddy and myself in it!! I've seen Joe several times, and that was by far the best show, awsome set-list. Everytime has been great though :) Looking forward to G3!!!

Joe, great line-up as usual for G3. Don't know if this has been covered already but when are you guys bringing G3 back to the UK. It was awesome last time and I'd love this line-up to hit our shores. Hope you manage to fit us in, if I have to travel all the way down to London I'd do it to catch you guys in action. Blow 'em away on the tour anyway Joe, and have a great time.

Smithy..... :o)

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH (runs around room in a small circle 2 and a 1/2 times before head explodes with confusion). sorry, I could have sworn I read about non-euro-G3 on steve's forums.........anyhow, someone said it and I know I read it.
6DOIT is ace, are you nuts?! hehe, if you don't like it then that's fair enough, but I personally would love to see lots of that record in the show.
We all eagerly await more info on Joe's upcoming CD! I can't wait, and I really hope it comes out like another FIABD. that was overall the coolest, I think, cuz it had so much variation. There were good examples of all the Joe-isms we're used to, and it covered a nice range of styles.
Steve with Billy Sheehan for G3? wow! That's ought to be interesting. Will it still be Joe's band as the other members for the final jam at the end of the show?

Great News to see Joe hard at it once again to record another album...

Don't let anything leak this time Joe... If it were me I'd give Sony/Epic heck for what happened... and hold them personally responsible... it wasn't even in stores, 2 months to go before that happened as I do recall...

Accidents or not...

They leaked an important recording of yours; Songs that could quite possibly be your best stuff...

I'd keep the recordings secret and locked up somewhere until the last possible moment, until the day it goes to the CD manufacturing department... I wouldn't let the crusty executives listen to a single note until the day it was released if I had it my way...

Narface - Not a problem, glad you made it alright to the States and all...

Ok, I got my guitar back w/ the new pickups! So far I've only been able to try it on my GuitarPort and it's sounding awesome! It's late so I'll give it a more thorough test run tomorrow, with some new strings for added brightness :)... A PAF Pro in the neck and a FRED in the bridge, it's a great combination! Getting this right after the GuitarPort is quite a cool treat!

DCK - I hear ya, Canada for G3!! Try to get to the East coast if possible!

Simon - Gates of Redala really kicks ass man. Any full version happening sometime soon?

I think my next project is instrumental Shania Twain covers. It's really very full, rich music. I love it.
