MILLER TIME!!! I am just about headed out the door to the Miller 150th Annervisory.I was lucky to get 2 tickets from a musician friend of mine. Playing tonight, The GooGoo Dolls and Bon Jovi. I will have a Miller for every one of my friends on T2J. So that's about 35 or 36 beers! Then I am going to treat myself to that many for my accomplishments! Hey "What the Fuck" You gotta do it! IT'S MILLER TIME!!! I hope everyone is doing well

My guitar is finally undercoated...next phase is the phase I like to call "Spraying the guitar bright orange".

After which is the phase I like to call "adding the killswitch"...I might not be the most creative on the naming front but aaaaaaah well.

Al, we miss you in the chat man. I reluctantly took my son for a haircut yesterday. Football practice starts Monday, and everyone told him it would be to hot and to hard to keep all that hair under a helmet. He got it buzzed up dude. All his beautiful long hair...gone. We'll see if he grows it again in October. I made sure to get my kids pics taken at a studio 2 days before his haircut though, so at least I have the memory preserved. lol! ;-)

I'm a few pages behind. I need to play ketchup. lol!

Hey Joe!

I've been a long time fan ever since I first heard the first 20 seconds on surfing with the alien I was hooked!

I've bought every cd/dvd you have released including the G3 projects. Been playing guitar myself for 20 + years ... and listening for 40 *grin* 4 times in my life I have heard something that totally got me, in the way that I instantly have gone out and bought everything I've found with that artist, an overwhelming feeling when someone really strikes you with their music, and you know things will not be the same again in some strange way.

1- Joe Satriani (surfing with an alien) 2- Y.J.Malmsteen (the early work) 3- S.R.V (couldn't stand the weather) 4- Brett Garsed (excempt), featuring T.J Helmerich

G3 dream team ... Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Brett Garsed ... man that would be almost leathal ... hehehe

check out Brett's music if you don't already know it Joey!!!!!

and never stop bringing us that wonderful music you have provided during the years, seems like I always waits for your next album ... and always trying to play some little things from your songs, with various success rate that is..*LOL* thanks and have a good one /Kenneth - (sweden)

SlickPotatoHead, hell yeah brudda, X-Box 360 is going to be so worth paying out for. I've been looking at the 3 available screenshots of Project Gotham 3 and it's amazing, they're really putting effort into the architecture. Can't wait to see Halo 3!

Delfino, yeah man, it rocked, I'm sorry you couldn't be there, you would have loved it......if I'd have known it was going to be that insightful I'd have paid your train fare for you!
VFR, f*ck*n aye bro, good call! My good mate Alex and I went to Paul's clinic last night and the man was absolutely amazing. It's the most inspiring thing I've been to, beating Vai's Aching Hunger shows, hands-down. More:

Last night's Paul Gilbert clinic was held, in association with Guiar Mania and Laney Amps, at the Layard Theater at Canford School. Canford (where my sister works, yay!) is a very old, very exclusive, and very beautiful boarding school. It's theater is pretty new, and is a cracking venue. It's like half an octagon, with fairly steep terrace and a balcony, and a total of 300 seats. It makes for a pretty close, intimate, and relaxed environment.

Paul was on stage with his Laney GH100L head and cab, and his PGM300, the prototype for the commercial PGM301. There was a bunch of other Laney amps and a PGM301 on stage, all with price tags on! He used a DS-1, a flanger, a delay and a tuner, but almost all of his tone was straight from his guitar and amp.

He talked about a whole lot of stuff, covering technique, some theory, influences, favourite music, his experience of learning at the age of 6, and then again aged 9, being on TV in Japan.....he covered a lot! His playing was just heartbreaking, it was all so real. Paul is in no way arrogant at all, he's a modest, normal guy who happens to be an amazing musician. He said nothing profound, but said a lot of really hilarious sh*t (as you'd expect) and lots of really useful stuff. He played some Racer X songs using backing tracks, and played some stuff solo as he was demonstrating the stuff he was talking about. He took requests and questions, and when asked about his classical music covers, played a Bach piece he'd transcribed. Not B.R.O. as can be found on "Technical Difficulties", but something else.

He finished up saying "I'm going to play a medley of my three favourite british bands - Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, and The Spice Girls". Obviously everyone cracked up and thought he was taking the p*ss, but he proceeded to play "2 become 1", which he'd transposed down to a lower key 'cause he can't sing as high as "Mel C". The way he played and sang it actually made it into a really nice song, with a seamless transition into the Led Zep/Sabbath arrangement. And with all that done he took a five minute break before going out to the foyer/bar to sit behind a table and sign 300 (or more) autographs.

I figured if you can't beat 'em join 'em, so I got his name added to my 'signature scratch-plate', along with Mr Sheehan, and Joe and Jeff and Vai and Igor, of course. I just gotta get Nuno, EJ and Andy T added and I'm all set!

I got 65 cracking photos of Mr Gilbert playing his ass off, pulling a variety of great faces. I can't upload the lot, so I'll look through them and find the best ones, and let everyone know when they're up for public viewing!

aussieRGman..Dude,,sounds like your abit confused in the DIRECTION you want to go with your music. Atleast your level headed this day,,boy the last post I read I thought you were gonna blow your house up..lol. As you know, music can be a frustrating thing at times, but ALL of us go through those times of confusion and wonder if were not just wasting our time. I practice 3-4 hours a day and somtimes get so fed up with my guitars I want to go chop wood with them.(Did that once with a 78' Les Paul Custom,NO SHIT,,BIG MISTAKE!! Was drinking then,,,now 5 years sober.) But what I try to stay focused on is that the music I play is for me and no one else. Lets face it,,not many guitar players get that BIG BREAK. 20 years ago I thought i might have a chance, now at 46 & a business owner my time is limited. I dont have the 12-16 hours a day to practice like Joe did at 16. Keep it as fun as you can & stay with what YOU want your music to sound like. If your best at jazz,,play jazz,,not saying dont play other types of music,,just dont get too discouraged trying to discover who you are musically. I have listened to some of the recordings you have done & think your comming along just fine. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top once told me..NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU ARE,,THERE IS ALWAYS SOMONE THATS BETTER. You know whats pleasant to your ears,,play that,, try to always improve & NEVER GIVE UP!! We cant all be rock stars that make it big,,but we can all be rock stars!! Play till the fingers bleed my brotha!! DA KOOK

Ok, this is in no way an original idea...actually a few guys at the Dave Weiner board brought this up and it worked out quite well...but seeing as everyone here lives miles away from each other so it makes it hard for us to jam all in person, what if we made a backing track and then everyone was allocated a certain amount of bars to do their stuff?

Ofcoure tempo, key, etc..is to be discussed, but it'd be fun to see the out-come and hear all the great players on the T2J boards to collaborate on something like this.
