Hey Joe, Only a couple of days until you hit the road again, I hope you are well rested for the U.S. tour. I love the new album, I think it's you'r best work yet. ......................A FRIEND AND FAN FOR LIFE.

Kell and ethn: Thanx for the info on Micheal Hedges.I only heard his music once, it was on the radio of all places, late at night on a Jazz station out of New York as I was traveling from Boston to my home in Jacksonville,Fl. As I remember the DJ did say someone had passed away but I wasn't sure if it was Michael he was speaking of. I look forward to discovering his music.

stu hacking:From what I have read all of Micheal Hedges albums are of exceptional merit, but if your looking for a place to start it seems as though Michael Hedges's "Aerial Boundaries" is the album to get.

Morning everyone, it's 7.30am UK time.

Anibur - Tentacles are always funny

Punkdude - Thanks - Joe Rules Too.

Cabroa - That's Tragic

Stu-Hacking - My son twice my age aaaaaaaah

For Adun- Seminars tiring then, do you want me to send you my Bullshit Bingo game to keep you awake.

Metallica better than Led Zep??? There's no comparison,it's LED ZEP of course.

Dragonchild/Michelle - Tattoos, don't know if I will take the plunge but what design, where to put it. Are there any Joe patterns to use?

Ibztone - my other half has started to learn guitar and he's 44.

Michelle- re your neighbour, get the joss sticks out and the oil burners, you can get Cannabis to burn, no it's not the illegal kind, it smells really strong, a bit like soap, very pleasant.

Amil- hope your dad gets better, that Joe effect is so strong.

Got to get ready for work now.

LOL Sharon

howdy folks-- just sticking my head up after being hard at work the last week or two getting the webcast ready for y'all! that's right, it'll be coming to you in under two weeks, and more details will be announced very soon. the short version is that it will be in quicktime 6 (partnered with apple again), and will feature exclusive rehearsal footage + the amsterdam show, split across a month. basically, 1/4 of the show will be available each week and then at the end it will all be available for 2 days. the rehearsal footage includes joe, matt and jeff giving little walkthroughs of some of their gear and there's some cool music and humorous glimpses into life the the rehearsal studio :}

i'm also working on getting the 20 winners for the set list contest chosen and announced so they can know to expect their autographed CDs and concert tour shirt. there's still time to enter-- just select your favorite set list for the tour!

we're still holding on to those bonus tracks to perhaps be able to use in something cool in the future. :}

and on a personal note, michael hedges was a wonderful player. i think live on the double planet is a fantastic album to start with, as is aerial boundaries. you can also catch some clips of a special show i had him do back in the "early days" of webcasting -- go to MediaCast's Michael Hedges page for the quicktime clips. in fact, this show i believe was the 5th live concert broadcast on the net. :}

Hey Jazz guitar...

I know what you mean, I've been acoustic for 4 years and electric only for two :) Improvising is mostly based around scales, so if you take the 3 chords and the minor from a key signature, play the corresponding scales of these chords (major, minor, pentatonic etc) and put them together.

If you can hear it in your head, then it's just a case of putting it through your fingers!! :) ...(that's sounds cool ;))

and just practice.

Austin I heard Stu was doing some studio work either on his own or with someone else - but you could be right :)

Sharon Did I say that wrong? I meant you are twice your sons age :P

Mr Nick - Unlucky m8 - I just sold my '93 Jem7VWH on Ebay.co.uk last night. The guy gave me £800 for it (condition was about 9/10). He picked it up an hour after bid closed... never had time to say my farewells! :~(

Ah well, at least I still have my JS1000BTB :D

Baradi - joe couldn'tm write tabs because he is an improviser

His songs change slightly each time he plays them, the most he could do is gove you tips for improvisation, and he does this through performance i thiink!! :)

On the topic of Michael Hedges- I love the album Oracle, it is very relaxing music and his style of playing is very inspirational even though I don't play guitar myself......

if its the high pitch during the reggae section,i think it those fret-hand-manipulating-the-bar-divebomb-thingies that joe popularized. you can hear the pick stroke,and it sounds like harmonics to me.do an artificial/pinch harmonic on an open string,and control it with the bar.

Sharon - Any decent tattoist should be an artist as well, if you take some design ideas with you you could work a design out together. Don't know where you are but Barry K at Tattoo Crazy, March, Cambridgeshire is very good. If not check out some of the Tattoo Mags, they normally name check good un's with examples of their work. It may cost a bit more but it's for life, and it's a real 'rites of passage' feeling customizing your body. As for the age thing, as old as you feel. I'm 35 and got a one year old daughter, that really gives you a different outlook!

Ovation1 I am curious about this expression 'kuul' you use every now and then.... is that japanese or what? I am asking because in swedish, 'kul' means that something is along the lines of funny, enjoyable, amusing, nice.... much the same that you mean by your expression I imagine, judging from the context you're using it in.....

Wow, it's so hot and muggy right now, time for a sleep soon.

R6rocker- we have a very good tattooist right here where I live, he has won awards for his work so if I do it I will go to him. He did my friend's tatto, celtic design right across the base of her back, she did say the woman next to her passed out though.

Webmaster - sounds like it will be worth tuning in.

Baradi - my husband has family in LeVov, they have come here a couple of times. Father in law wont go back over there though, too close to Chernobyl and he is not a well man now.

Stu-Hacking - you got it right, I got it back to front, should have read me twice my son's age aaaaaaaaah. What is more frightening is that I have known my husband 22 years, you don't get that for murder do you.

Kevb - yes I was centre/front my youngest son was just to my left. Someone was in front of him who disappeared to the loo I expect so he jumped in to the front row spot. You weren't the tall bloke with the long hair were you?

Did someone mention returning to talking about guitars and stuff, I thought those conversations were still going. You can't just talk about guitars ALL of the time. I bet even Joe doesn't talk about them ALL of the time. There are other subjects you know. When I go to dog shows all some people talk about is dogs, breeding, dogs, showing, dogs dogs dogs, it's such a refreshing change when someone talks about other things, for example my friend often changes the subject and talks about her sex life, what toys she uses, the fact that her boyfriend wont play with the toys etc etc. She has me in stitches.

Just remember Variety is part of the spice of life you know.

LOl Sharon

Dragonchild: kuul, for me, is just a way to describe "cool"... way too cool is a better way to describe it!! I learned it from one of the guy's here on the old Satchboard, and it looked pretty funky, so I use it when I want to say really cool :-)....

nighty nite all, sweet SBM dreams *-)

Minus Human - I think Friedman rocked in that band and I haven't even bothered to listen to Megadeth after Friedman.

Phryg Dom - The S have different tremsetters. It's a unit that goes underneath the springs and has 2 spring shafts of it's own.
