Hi all,

I've posted another cover on my myspace site. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

I gave "Flying in a Blue Dream" a shot, I haven't played it in a while, and since Joe signed the keyboard on Wednesday all I've been doing is making covers for the last week.

I'm using a Korg Karma keyboard, with an overdrive guitar sound to mimic the lead guitar, and I'm playing along with a backing track.

I'm playing by ear, and it may not be as crisp as others playing this, but I think I did ok. Come check it out on my site, and let me know what you think.

Thanks,

http://www.myspace.com/metalpianoman

Has anyone seen the G3 show with Billy Gibbons ?

I've read Joe's comment about it somewhere and seen also a lil' painting Billy offered to Joe on a video...

Is there any bootleg recording of this somewhere ?

Friendly, Beedoo

Joe : your last album sounds to me like something which says "go back to the riff". The compositions are very minimalist, reduced to the minimun. & this inspired to me an album's title: Bare Bones.

Do the Stu :

Nice Michael Manring's performances. I didn't know. The guy gets a brilliant tone & technics.

Stu gets lot of class, yeap.

Pastorius, as Stanley Clarke, is miraculous. Sad he died like that..

About Chris Squire, the guy is an amazing example of a rare balance between the composer & the virtuoso, & all that with a genuine tone experiment inside one of the more creative bands of the 20th century.. YES. But you must already know that.

Talking about Bass, i would like to add here two incredible composers: Roger Waters, & Sting.

Hi Joe. You are truly my fav guitarist and I would love to go see you when you come to Australia for your tour. One problem. The only show I can see is in the Tivoli, Brisbane. It is an Over 18 venue if the show is standing only and I am only 14 . So I cannot see the greatest instrumental guitarist alive, not unless I break the law. I know that you won't be able to change the venue, but please think of all the young fans all over the world who won't be able to see one of your shows. In the meantime, I will be off crying in the nearest corner.

Luke.

Gday, just a quick question. any chance of a meet and greet ticket for the Melbourne Australian show in July ???

Does Joe do that sort of thing, or just for his American fans... Australia gets bugger all in ways of meet and greet, or signings at namm shows, or workshops. will joe be doing any workshops in Australia, or signings ?

thanks

Are any SoCal T2Jers planning to go to the Guitar Center gig in Hollywood on Tuesday? Let me know...it'd be nice to meet you and say hello.

Chris Gray - The CD/DVD version of the album appears to be fairly limited, and I've only been able to find it online (I haven't found an actual store that carries it). It looks like it's out of stock through the link that was here on satriani.com, and CD Universe, a web store that also carried it at one point, also appears to be out of stock.

I'd say you're out of luck for the time being...I imagine more copies will be available if there are any left after Joe finishes the Guitar Center tour.

If you're desperate and REALLY want this version of the album, if you can come up with a way to pay me (PayPal?) I can pick up a copy for you at the Guitar Center gig in Hollywood on Tuesday. Let me know...

cheese101 - Joe played the National Anthem at Sears Point in Sonoma on 6/22/03. It aired on Fox and I recorded it. I guess the tape is somewhere in my parents' house...I'll have to look for it the next time I go home. I do remember the announcer mispronounced Satriani, and started to say it with a Z instead of an S. Hehehe...
beedoo - I'm not aware of any bootlegs of the G3 gig with Billy Gibbons. I remember it being highly sought after right when it happened, but I don't think any recordings ever turned up...
Zenfish - If you want to hear more Michael Manring, look him up on CD Baby. I seem to remember him offering a lot of long sample clips through that site. Also, go to his website, http://www.manthing.com/, and join his mailing list. You'll get a password to download a track called Music For Armchair Funambulists that is just insane. It's one track recorded in one take but at times it sounds like two or three different people are playing. He even retunes his bass mid-performance.

I have to admit I don't know much about Roger Waters or Sting. I'm pretty familiar with Pink Floyd and the Police (it's hard not to be), but don't know much of their solo music. Is there anything you'd recommend?

ibanezfreak777 - There's always a chance that an in-store appearance/autograph signing will be scheduled sometime between now and when he's in Australia. But if not, Joe's usually pretty good about meeting with fans who wait by his bus after the show. So you could try your luck with that...

Do the Stu : MM uses all his fingers & tapping technics.. that gives to him a large expansion for solo expression. thx for the links.. i will check.

About Waters, as for Gilmour, i think the best thing he has done is Pink Floyd.. sad his egotic madness conduced him to destroy the hardcore's band... i don't follow his current work, but remember that Clarky advised the album Amused to Death.

Sting is like Prince. It's impossible to introduce him with one album.. he's so ecclectic & creative.. a genius of modern composition.

Sting Site

& you'll find here several MP3

Hey Joe! Brian from the Chicago show.

Remember I told you I'm from Minneapolis, drove 6.5 hours and then Live Long and Prosper. Then I stopped you when you came outside with Mike at a quarter after 9 or to get that closeup shot which came out perfect. FYI, that nickname is my last name (it's French but don't be fooled, I'm almost 75 Irish). I saw the video of you backstage in San Francisco in 2002 so I kinda knew you'd be a nice guy (or else I would not have come down. Lots of fans get blown off by celebrities who don't have time or don't care or whatever), but DAMN, this was fantastic! You seemed to be enjoying yourself more than I was! I'm happy as hell to have picked the right person to meet.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for doing this session w/o charging for admission; it was a hell of a deal. I cannot complain but I do curiously wonder why you did it. Are you the first? I don't want to use more of your time right now, so thanks for reading.

Good Morning Satchland.......How Are You?

What a great weekend. It was the first real Spring days. Sunny in the upper 60's .......it was awesome.

The Chicgo Gutar Center seminar was incredible. It's always great to see Joe, Mike and Mick. I shook hands with Mike before we went in and saw Mick right away and got a chance to talk with him a little bit. Joe was great, look great and was in great spirits. They passed the mic around to ask Joe questions and I got a chance to ask him about the Satchurator pedal. Joe played to backing tracks on the clean channel of his JSX so all the overdrive was coming from the pedal which was very impressive. Joe stated availability soon and that GC was selling them for $119. This pedal Rocks ! ! ! !. The question of the show was this kid about I'd say 18yrs. explained he drove 61/2 hrs to see Joe and asked if Joe ever gets mad when people get up and move around during concerts or seminars and Joe responded "No not at all" and the kid said "Good cuz' I gotta Pee" and the whole place was up for grabs.....lol..... The new cd is great and I feel and hear the maturity in Joe's songwriting and I think he 's at a point were he's released a real personal cd wth PSATOR. It's all there personal, comical and awe inspiering melodies you'd expect from the man. For Cindy and I it was really personal to see Joe again and he knew as Mick excatly who we were cuz' of the SWTA mural in which Joe promised to sign when his tour schedule permitts. I can't tell you what that will mean to our whole family. Cindy got her first pic with Joe and suprised her by calling her by name. I also got a pic of Joe and he signed the original SWTA cover and my JSX head. I've must have looked at his signature 50 times since and still can't belive it all happened. Joe just lifts you up with his music and to have a extra tiny connection to him cuz' of the mural makes these meeting expieriences even more special. The event was very orginized and with aprox. 450 in attendance I thought it went real smooth. The staff at Chicago's GC was second to none. They were all great and Nick(from GC) locked my JSX head up in a show room until signing keeping me from lugging the beast around. What a great beast it is as I LOVE this amp and with Joe' signature on it just makes it more special. I'll post pics soon.

Thanks Joe for everything and God Bless You ! ! ! !

Have A Great Day Everyone ! ! ! ! !

Lucore......Welcome to T2J. Great question. You brought the house down......lol......
