Do the Stu..... Yeah have a dig about 4 those vids. On the subject of G3 tours I love John Petrucci's set on the tour he was on. Jaws of Life is epic in my view and 'Tunnel Vision' is another one off his solo album which I really like. I went to the Nottingham show in the UK where Rob Fripp played with Satch and Vai. (king crimson guy). Wasn't that impressed by Fripp I have to say, but Whispering a Prayer was really nice. I'd never heard that song beofre but he nailed it that night!

Nick, you just hit the nail on the head. Tunnel Vision is my fave Petrucci tune. I crank it in my car, and the bass is soooo friggin killer! I swear my tires are coming up off the ground. lmao!! Right foot is doing the pedals, left foot is stompin', hands are pounding on the wheel (eyes are watching the road - lol!) That tune is so feckin crunchy and riff-o'-licious it's redickerous!
I don't even smoke and I almost need a cigarette after that tune. LOL!
And on the JP line of holyfuckaroni tunes, the first time I played Honor Thy Father in my car, I felt like the dude in that commercial who is sitting in his chair and turns on his system and the power blows the sound at him like a turbo jet and blows his glass of wine across the table and into his hand.
Hmmm, glass of wine. Now there's a good idear ;-p

First concert I saw was January 17 1996. Joe Satriani tour, Metro, Sydney.
Can anyone confirm that Joe himself decideed not to use the silver surfer JS20th on this tour as it interfered with his sound or his playing?
Can a lister that next meets him please ask?

Hello Everyone !!!
Hello especially to Tracie (cheese 101). I believe I may have figured out the mystery behind the broken chat. DO NOT update flash player to version 9.0.124.0
I just downgraded my flash player back to version 9.0.47.0 and it started working again!!! I'm happy again. Looks like it was a compatibility issue all along. Let me know if this worked for anyone else too.
Later everyone...P.S. Jenna says HI.

Hi Tony....please give sweet baby Jenna a hug from auntie cheese, still hoping to see some pics when u have a minute to breathe, lol....new parenthood, ain't it grand. :)
Thanks for the tip....but I already downloaded the new flash...so now where do i go to download the old one again? I looked around the adobe site but could only find a download to the newest version. I'd like to try the older version and see if that works....sigh.
I wish webby Jon would just do his magic and fix the chat again. Feeling awfully neglected here.
Chelle....of COURSE it's the Guitar whammy. You have an autographed piccy to prove it ;) When Joe was signing it for you, he told me he remembered right when you took that pic :) I think he had fun that night too, lol!
PLAY MY WHAMMY!!! Yep....words that shall go down in history :D

Tracie, just do a google search for flash player 9.0.47.0 and you should find the download (.exe) file. Installing it should overwrite the other one. That's how it worked for me!
(I hope you still have my photobucket link. I had just enough time to download one picture of Jenna. I made a new album too. She's seven weeks old now.)
If all else fails, let me know perhaps I can e-mail it too you. I always keep a copy of the previous version for backup...
Just found out that version 9.0.115.0 also works. (The 9.0.47.0 version seemed to work faster for me.) Here's an old link I found too: http://www.oldapps.com/Macromedia_Flash_Player.htm

REVAN 2008 - Thanks for the info on Stone Roses. I just looked them up on Wikipedia...I guess they broke up a while ago but I had never heard of them. Thanks for the album and song suggestion...I'll dig around and see if I can find some good sound clips.
michelle - "oi! His GUITAR whammy, people! Though now that you put it that way"
Haha! At Joe's gig at the Hollywood Guitar Center, someone asked him to demonstrate his whammy dive/pull-up. And at some points, well, it looked like Joe could have been grabbing something other than his whammy bar...hehe. I recorded some of Joe's songs, and most of the talking between them, but I had turned my camera off by the time this happened. I wish I would have recorded it though...it was great. ;-)
nickguitarmeistro - I looked around and I can't find those videos on my computer. BUT...I found a rehearsal video that was part of the same webcast, so I think what I must have done is burn the videos of the actual concert to a CD. That CD is probably in a box somewhere around here, mixed in with some of my old college stuff.
It'll take some time, but I'll find them eventually. And it'll be sooner rather than later, because all this talk about Satch shows makes me mad that I missed the tour these videos are from. ;-)
I still need to buy John Petrucci's solo album. I don't know why I've been putting it off...I guess it's because I have a good bootleg or two of some of the G3 2001 shows.
It's cool that you got to see Robert Fripp...I'd love to see him do a G3 tour in the US again. I don't know if it'll happen though, because it seems unfortunately the crowds aren't all that receptive to him. If I get a moment to talk to Joe at one of the gigs in November maybe I'll ask him about that...or maybe he can answer if he happens to be reading this now. ;-)
Mahavishnu - Awesome...thanks for posting that.
serbiagini - Cool photos...I think this one is my favorite.
cheese101 - Go here to download the older Flash.
For future reference, http://www.oldversion.com/ and http://www.oldapps.com/ are awesome websites.
Aaand, it looks liks jsTony just posted the same link I did above. But I typed this before I saw his post, so I'm just going to leave it. ;-)
Listening to: Dave Matthews Band - 10/2/07, Hollywood, CA; a bootleg of a show I was at (current song: Don't Drink The Water)

Almost forgot, hey Iggy,it wouldn't be impossible to organise the mass jam, how many people do you think would show up in the UK to play a Satch cover?
Anybody care to estimate how many people in Aussie cities would show up to play guitar, drums, bass, for a Joe song?

Do the Stu : I don't know Lang. Kenny.. i've been first delighted to hear something like a resurrection of Stevie's attack inside his playing.. but have been quickly disappointed by the lack of creativity.
About Stevie, i could express the thing differently : I miss him terribly. & there's no blues player come after him who fills this dearth. Take care.. i don't say they are no good.. ok?
Now, i just can cry listening to The Wall of Denial
Yesterday, i was listening to Howlin' Wolf. So great. All is already here.
There's currently for me only Beck that really gets out of the old fomats of Blues & Bluesrock. His approach of Blues onto Who Else & You Had it Comin is very experimental & straight ahead our time. That's just what i need. I prefer to listen to this two albums than still & still listening the eternal same structures comin again & again. & sometime i go back to
Roy Buchanan
But it's just me.

the other weird thing about the stone roses is most people i ask always say they prefer the 1st album-but when asked they've never listened to the 2nd (second coming) so i guess the reviewers really did a hatchett job on it. you might not like the vocals-you might really like them.
But also give Tightrope a listen-love the lyrics to that song.

I've seen a lot of messages lately about everyone's experience seeing Joe live. I must say I'm impressed and envious! I sure wish Joe was able to make Oklahoma a regular stop. But hey! On a positive, I will finally get to see him in November. The day after the show, I'll update my list of how many times I've seen joe!! =)
Has anyone heard anything about a G3 next year? I have never really heard much John Petrucci. Would anyone recommend a starter?
