Stu - I can be a pretty weird guy... being weird is fun... the Pizzaman would be the weird guy in the company of weirdo's
I'd have to work pretty hard to be that strange...
very cool.... lmao..

Pizza man - wow.. you said something sane enough for me to identify with....

C# is a favourite key of mine too... not only for soloing but also it works very nice riff wise on the 7-string... nice and low.. nice and big..

Stu - I never understood Hiram or where he was coming from.. he'd get pally and then get all stroppy... I don't know about the Avarice connection to him [VBIL never mentioned it to me - but I guess that don't mean too much]...
ovation - last night I cut the solo to the 1st movement of the Raft..... yummie... I know that it needs checking etc etc but...... the vibe is just so there.... it's agressive.. I did something like an hour warm up first... and then started recording.... it seems to me to have more energy and a better spirit than the demo version... right now I'm well pleased with it... I'll not play tonight.. maybe Saturday or Sunday I'll check it over, see if I need to drop in any corrections and move on into the 2nd movement - which I really am looking forward to as it has such a nice contrasting vibe....
the verdict so far is: - very nice...... very pleased...

You're right about the confidence... right now I have the mood on that makes me feal as though I could set about the guitar with a hammer and it would sound great.... sling it to the floor and it would land in C#m [the heaviest of all keys.. lol].. the way Wrath feals right now tells me that she's busting to be played and she's well up for the recording sessions...

so yes.. the planets are aligned.. I'm fealing very confident.. and I'm fealing very 'aware' when I'm playing...

plug in the guitar... plug in the soul.. and set the overdrive to stun... lol

Artanis - I think you're onto something there.... lol... maybe my 2nd album should be called "A C of the D"... lmao

Rock singer Robert Palmer, known for his sharp suits and hits including "Addicted to Love," died Friday in Paris of a heart attack, his manager said. He was 54.

Palmer was on a two-day break in Paris following a television recording session in Britain, his manager Mick Carter said from the French capital.

In the 1980s, Palmer became a superstar with singles which also included "Simply Irresistible"-- accompanied by slick videos featuring the smartly dressed Palmer with a back-up band of attractive women, all in black outfits and glossy makeup.

A side project, Power Station, formed in 1985 with John Taylor and Andy Taylor of '80s supergroup Duran Duran, scored three U.S. Top 10 hits, including "Communication" and "Get it On."

The son of a British naval officer, Palmer was a member of several British rock bands before he hit the big time as a solo artist.

He had lived in Switzerland for the past 16 years.

Known for his GQ sense of style, Palmer was named best dressed male artist by Rolling Stone in 1990.

The "Addicted to Love" video, with its miniskirted models strumming guitars as Palmer sang, became one of MTV's most-played clips, and sparked protests from some feminists.

"I'm not going to attach inappropriate significance to it because at the time it meant nothing. It's just happened to become an iconic look," Palmer once said of the video.

He had his first hit album and single, "Sneakin' Sally through the Alley," in 1974.

In his 20s, Palmer worked with a number of small-time bands including Dada, Vinegar Joe, and the Alan Bown Band. He occasionally appeared in opening acts for big draws, including The Who and Jimi Hendrix.

Palmer once confessed that he was not attracted to the excesses of rock 'n' roll stardom.

"I loved the music, but the excesses of rock 'n' roll never really appealed to me at all," he said. "I couldn't see the point of getting up in front of a lot of people when you weren't in control of your wits."

He was noted for dressing up and being somewhat restrained.

"I don't want to be heavy," he said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

"I can't think of another attitude to have toward an audience than a hopeful and a positive one. And if that includes such unfashionable things as sentimentality, well, I can afford it."

Climber - thanx for the comment... There's a little story attatched to Balena.. The was a guy who used to come in here a while ago call DeAvila.. a real nice guy.. lives down in Sao Paulo Brazil... he wrote a little tune but was struggling to come up with a chord progression that fit nice so he asked me to help him.. he sent me an e-mail with the notes of the melody and described the duration of each note etc.... I figured that he was struggling because the melody momentarily modulates [changes key] and steps back tpo the original key again... I sent him a big long reply talking about various options as to how the modulation could be handled.. next he starts asking about the lydian mode as he was getting confused with this stuff... so I explained all of this and he seemed to be picking everything up pretty good... I suggested "how about if I interpret your sweet little tune my way, create a backing track and record it... I can then stick it up on the IUMA site for you"
so the main melody was writen by Cristian [DeAvila] but the backing idea was my example to illustrate what I was try to teach him... I figured that the melody needed a contrasting section, Chris wanted to know about Lydian, so I added the Lydian thing on the back of it...
So this ended up a kind of 'applied' theory / song writing tutorial... it was a lot of fun... Chris liked it very much..

I'm glad you do too.... thanx..

Climber - oops sorry I forgot to mention.. my album is nothing short of 600 years late.. lol.. I'm hoping to have it done by Feb next year now.. also, Balena will not be on the album..
my album is a very different thing to what you'll hear on the IUMA site... the closest thing to my 'current' sound on there is The Rape of the Sabine Women [which will be on the album]...

greg - I have been known to be just a little bit funny from time to time... lol..

or was that stupid all the time..

Maybe I felt pushed aside with ......ummm....yeah. maybe you weren't referring to me. I just want to have some good conversation. So let's not b haten. It's all good. sometimes it's easy to misenterpret, or miscommunicate.

pizza man,
?
I'm thinkin either you got very offended by a post i made about you or you made a post that you think I ignored intentionally to blow you off, but really just didn't see

please clear this up for me, I'm not seein any reason for you to get all protective of your own ability when I never said anything about you not being able to play.
seriously man, chill out. don't step in and get all pissed off at someone you don't even know.
What's the matter? Are you too cool for me? I guess you're too busy satisfying the illusion of coolness. Ask me anything. Can YOU play any satriani?? Or billy sheehan? Or primus? How good are YOU?
so you're telling me there's no illusion of your own ability when you say to ask you ANYTHING???

illusion of coolness? i can't think of a time when i wasn't the first to say how not-cool i am... take some time to read my posts and learn who i am before you rip on me.
come on man, lighten up.

edit: in case anyone else can help me figure out why it seems like pizza man is getting hostile here (and maybe i'm reading way too far into this and taking it personally?)
only post i've found from P.M. concerning me is the one quoted above

only posts from me concerning P.M. = this one, and

"who/what is hiram abif?"
pizza man,
hiram was a poster here on the boards, no one's seen him/her for a while though... we think he left with avarice, but has probably rejoined as wolf2, and apparently me too, according to what greg was saying. lol

also, in response to "opinions are like orgasms"
wow... i'm certainly a multiple orgasm type of guy i guess, and they're all goin in different directions.
i wish you hadn't gotten me started on that analogy...

there was the other one where i mentioned the matrix that i can't find. it was something like "is it just me or does it sound like pizza man's been watching a bit too much of "The Matrix"...

do you maybe think that "ummmmmmmmm....... yeah" post was about you? check the link dude! it's insane!

Hi Joe!

Clarky:Thanx man.I feel as if I missed a whole bunch of things here but I know that there will always be topics of interest....lol...Things are kind of hectic right know for me. But I can't stay away for too long or else I start to flap like a fish out of water. You know"withdrawl"....that sort of stuff...

2Ton Tessie:Things are getting better but not fast enough for me.I always get the shitiest luck at the worst possible times.Sometimes I wish I had no luck at all...lol...

Ovation:I still play the guitar all the time.It takes me away from the problems & gives me peace of mind when I need it most.I'm sure that most people who play guitar(or music) feel the same way about it.It sure shows with Joe.Sometimes I'd rather listen to him than play along. His quality of sound is spectacular.

Well, enough rambling on.The librarian is scooting me off....

hehe, I'm sorry but Stu Clone, I'm so with you on this one.....Pizza Man, I have no doubts that Graham can play bass well. You can't really come into a 'community', from new, and slag off those who have been here since the beginning. I think experience is valuable.

got any more Matrix-isms for us? hehe.

Narface, congratulations, you have done the right thing! hehe. don't hesitate to ask us for advice when you have trouble getting to the bonus disc......there's a nack!
Olly, yeah Jon's band. Jon f*ck*n rocks man, I'm looking forward to this show. Oh, and, you're a b*st*rd.....you got lessons from Jon! hehehe. I really want lessons from him. anyhow, yeah, I'll give you details in about a weeks time!

laters dude

JS1000 scale length - it's a 648 scale just like most other 'super-strats', isn't it? which means it's longer than a Gibson type scale, so if you want shorter stretches, you won't find it much easier than any other 'super-strat.' That said, it's radius is really nice - easy to wrap your hand around!
Those who like Yngwie's speed antics really should check out Igor Belsky. he rocks. I much prefer him to Yngwie, cuz I find him more melodic, and he plays some really nice phrases.

'Adrenaline Junkie' may appeal to those who think speed is everything.

Anyone know if the Rockline interview on October 1st with Joe, Steve, and Yngwie will be available to listen to online afterwards?

I live in Colorado and we used to get Rockline, but I don't think we do any more.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Got my setlist all dialed in, awful lot of tunes for the G3 spot! Would be great if Joe did play that long of a set....I could hang!! Never get tired of a Satch live experience.

pizza man: Sorry dude, I guess it was somebody else who made the post to me. Anyways, I really only liked the first s/t cd from Extreme. That album shreds! There are some good songs on "Three sides" as well. The solo in "Get the funk out" is sick! Didn't really care for the song though.

I've heard of both the guitarists you mentioned. Kee Marcello's leads on the Europe cd "Out of this World" are awsome, I love that stuff. Did he only do that one cd with them??

Fretslayer:- I'm assuming marcello played on "final countdown" - love that solo too- buy i'm not 100% sure.- john sykes played with whitesnake before steve vai.- i.e."still of the night."- love that solo as well. -Nuno is great, but he's certainly not my favorite. Did you ever hear ozzie foxs' guitar playing? I'm not a big fan of stryper, but I do like a lot of his solos.

I'm really looking forward to the G3 at Massey Hall in Toronto. I live in South Africa, and my brother lives in Toronto, so when he said that he was going to the concert, I told him to buy me a ticket as well. Hey! What's a 20 hour flight and +/- $1,000 later compared to an evening with Joe, Steve and Yngwie.
