[b]Mr Nick[/b} Suppose I was playing a C chord, and using the C Ionian scale, if I went to the G Mixolydian, would I have to start on a G note as soon as I played a C chord in the I-IV progression, or continue playing the C Major scale, since it's the same notes?

the prez..ok..C major and G mixolydian have the same notes..but a different root note. If you play these notes over a Cmaj chord..it would be Cmaj...if you play a Gmaj chord...it would probably still be Cmaj..since Gmaj is a chord in the Cmaj scale...if you have a G7 chord...with has the flat 7th note in...(the F)..then it would be G mixolydian. i find modes kinda weird in a way when explaining it..cos its talking about one chord..the way i see it is that if the underlying note is a C..on the bass or keyboards..then its Cmajor..but..if its a G note or chord that is the underlying tone..then i would say its G mixolydian.

Well, just got back from my parent's house after a nice Christmas hangout. I got some really nice gifts, among others a beautiful dragon champagne glass (which will be used soon!) and Steve Lukather's Santamental (sounds great after one quick listening thru it). But I really need to speak to my folks until next year. I mean, black pasta and a cooking pan i s all very nice, but my list specifically said 'Lord of the Rings I-II, extended version'. PRIORITIES! ;)
Ovation I didn't get a new sofa either, can you believe it? But I did get gift certificates for IKEA, which is almost the same I guess. Do you have IKEA in Japan?
Get a Loaf/Beezer Did you know that the swedish word for eve is afton? Christmas Eve = Julafton. I know Afton is used as a name sometimes over there, just thought it was funny.
OCPS C3PO Congrats on your clinic, it's gonna be great, I'm sure! And remember that for a goat humper EVERY day is like Christmas. Maybe not for the goat, but still.
Michelle Get those new speakers shakin' and breakin' girl! Merry Christmas!

ovation1 - Merry Christmas! I think it's about 5 AM on 12/25 in Japan now, right? Of course, that's assuming that I did the correct math...LOL.
BeeZer - Happy 100!
alexandrocaetano - Thanks! Merry Christmas to you as well. :-)
TASTEY - Oops...I thought you said "husband" in there (or, at least, I thought I read "husband" there). I'm sorry about that. Still, the same thing applies. It's hard to give people ideas for personal gifts, when they've never met the intended recipient...at least that's what I think, anyway. What are some of this guy's hobbies and interests? Let me know and maybe I can help think of something...?
Is this person the guy that you mentioned on this site a while back, when you were wondering about what your life would be like if things worked out differently?
Well, I just read your other post and it looks like you won't read this until after Christmas. Oh well. Anyway, I've always said that everyone here should have a T2J get together sometime. If a T2Jer ever wins the lottery, I hope he/she would throw a party together for us and pay for airfare and everything...hehe.
...Austin...

Tastey --- Whatever happens as far as what you talked about, I wish you the best. One request though, from one fellow T2Jer to another...please tread carefully, and keep your wits about you. never jump feet first into any situation, make sure your head gets in there pronto. :) Here's hoping you eventually find true happiness...good luck to you. :)
Sharif --- Yeah, Essex, nice little town these days...used to have your assortment of hoodlum kids running around, but I think most of those grew up to be computer-programming BMW drivers. :) Yeah, hooking up sounds like a good idea. You, guitar, Me, keyboards, us...music! :) Sounds like a potential jam brewing... :)
Here's a poem to keep everybody in the holiday spirit:
Here he comes! Here he comes!
With candy canes and sugar plums.
Spreading cheer across the map...
Big fat dude with his sack of crap! :D
Merry Christmas to all. As soon as this holiday rush is over I want to hear what Santa Claus brought everybody! :) Here's hoping your house doesn't start stinking from basement to ceiling this year and you don't startlingly discover something red and furry stuck up inside your chimney this July.
Sorry...I just had to add that! :) Take care...

I wanted to write you because I saw you at your November 4th show at the Warner theater, and I was blown away! I have been a huge fan of your work for many years and have loved it all! I am 11 years old and have been playing guitar for 2 years. I have 6 guitars. My queston is: What attitude should I take to get to the top?
If anyone would like to see my guitars go to http://mysite.verizon.net/vze7m0u4 then go to "My Guitars.
