michelle - Thanks for the info on the Dio memorial...funny how you're on the other side of the country but you know more about some LA-area events than I do. ;-)

I'm free Sunday afternoon, so I'll try to go. It seems a bit weird to me, though...I appreciate what he's done for music, but I've only seen him in concert once and I don't actually own any of his albums. So a memorial might be a bit much for me.

I think I'll end up going, if for no other reason than a larger group of music fans in attendance will make the protesters from the Westboro Baptist "Church" look smaller. I still can't believe they're picketing the memorial...ugh.

...Austin...

Breaking our laws does not give illegal aliens the right to be here. This is a minor problem compared to the democratic controled government bankrupting the country for generations to come. Joe , don't waste your time on that nonsense...your freedom and liberty is being legislated away and You don't even know it.....I have lost a lot of respect for you

Skippygirl - Push play, that's a great song! Is it the studio version or one of the many live releases?

Listening to: Jeff Buckley - Dink's Song

If famous people don't use their fame as a platform to fight for their beliefs and rights as well as ours, who the f@#k will? YOU!?!?!?

! Well go on then.Lets see you make a difference!!!

I don't know much about USA politics or law, but i DON'T worship a flag!!!

I believe we are all created equal by a greater power to share every inch of this planet AS equals.

GREED for POWER over the less fortunate is what is destroying the value of human life.

If you DON'T want people in higher positions than yourself to make an effort for positive changes, then STOP complaining, get DOWN off your HIGH HORSE,get UP off your FAT ARSE and DO SOMETHING YOURSELF!!!!!! F*#@ING IGNORAMOUS's!!!!

I will continue to support Joe and all the others who are willing to put their reputation on the line for a chance to make this world a better place for ALL mankind!!!

Cheers Joe.

wow. losing respect for a person or persons due to their values and ideals. all time petty low. differences are what make up life. i will not lose respect for any person if they have a differing opinon or point of view. some of you guys need to mature some.

Fatape - I took an oath 7 years ago to support and defend the Constitution against all foreign and domestic enemies when I enlisted into the Air Force. Although for medical reasons I am no longer able to continue the fight there, I still do what I can on the outside. Even something as simple as writing a Congressman about something you have concerns about. It's not correct to assume that famous people are the only ones that try to make a difference.

I don't think it's totally inappropriate for people like Joe Satriani to use their position to try and make changes; I just think something like this is the wrong situation. Does anyone really think that the Arizona Government gives a damn that these 20 artists are no longer going to perform in their state? NO.. Who does this hurt? Their fans and the artists' revenue. There are many other things that famous people can do to benefit others. Like someone pointed out in an earlier post, the sound strike website is... misinformed... for lack of a better term. I thought Joe had more sense than to associate himself with something like this.

Joe Satriani - I'm glad that you fight for what you believe in; I don't begrudge you that. To be honest with you though, I believe the State of Arizona is doing more to protect my civil rights than the sound strike movement is.

Ian

Mai tai man - You say 'i will not lose respect for any person if they have a differing opinon or point of view' but by referring to folks behaviour as 'all time petty low' and saying that they 'need to mature some' actually indicates that you have. Have another drink.

I truly appreciate your actions in enlisting and taking an active part in defending your country(as i do anyone else in any form of defense or protection service).I too have medical reasons for not being able to enlist. And i DO write to whoever I need to in order to make changes

My gripe is with the "empty vessels" who complain and whine about a situation and bad mouth anyone famous or otherwise for standing up, when they're not willing to do so themselves. I won't mention names as I'm above being that type of person. The guilty ones know who they are and they can battle with their own conscience over it.

No offence intended towards you , Ian. Cheers.

Fatape - Thanks for the reply.. I didn't intend to drag everyone in to this when I brought it up. I guess above all I'm just bummed to see Joe getting professionally involved in politics, if that makes any sense? In the few years I've known of him, it seems like he's always used his 'power' to help people in need: bring in money for those who couldn't pay medical bills, etc.. I've always appreciated his neutral stance and enjoyed the fact that his career was his music.

I'll be very clear and say that I still respect Joe as much as I ever have, and I don't think any less of him as a person. It's not like he's committed murder or anything, I just don't agree with the sound strike thing. I sincerely hope that we can put this all behind us very soon, and I really hope that I haven't offended anybody with my rambling.

P.S. - Cappy Steve - Have another drink.... Haha!! I laughed for about 15 minutes when I read that post. Exactly what I needed to be able to get some sleep tonight, and not a minute too soon, it's nearly 5 A.M. ugh..

petty and low is what the comments are. not offended by you either. values and morals are personal to every1. but it is not correct to lose respect over differences of opinon. i can certainly respect the opinons and the very right to say them but when your ideology and my ideology differ, i don't think less of you. and you know you are quite right i shouldn't have passed judgement for petty and low comments no matter how inappropeiate the may have been.

oh and cheers... the bars always open.

if you are an illegal .. you are not really an american ..and just taxing the system .. and making it harder for those that should have rights to have rights .

the right answer to this is .. the illegals are in facts thieves stealing the freedom of those that are actually the ones deserving of it .. i have no problem with an actual legal immigrants .. but also have no problem with kicking illegals out as they do not belong and have not tried to fit in . cause if they did .. they would have green cards or visa's to actualy work ..

just my 2 cents

I don't think Joe is supporting the illegals, more so the folk who are targeted as possible illegals due to racial profiling.
