deep breath!!!

Austin: this is the longest I've had to wait for a Satch CD to appear in a shop I've been in. There are a few Aussies on the mainland that managed to get US imports. Usually the shops in my city have imports of Satch within 2-3 months of original release. I recall not seeing a local release of SBM until over 6 months after the US release. I'd had the import copy for 3-4 months by then. As soon as it's released here it'll appear. The G3 was only a month or two behind in release, and showed up within days. Supply and demand I suppose.

By the way, the audio quality I was hearing was quite good.

JS JS: I can't get any of the webcast stuff to work at all on windows machines (which have the latest versions of quicktime), however the macs seem to work for the listening party. The video keeps on freezing or going nuts. This isn't helped by the fact it's streaming only, and isn't downloadable. Also, good on you for your Mexico trip. Friends of mine are doing a similar thing in orphanages in Sri Lanka at the moment. (In a ceasefired war zone, at a time when the parliament is introducing legislation that will pretty much outlaw Christianity.)

Austin/Guitarmeister: also, didn't Joe turn down an offer to join Deep Purple (after being a stand-in) citing solo career as a reason? I can't see any point in him joining GnR (with this Deep Purple thing in mind or not).

I didn't want to spoil such a beautiful and seemingly errorless post by adding the edit bit to the bottom of it, so I'll put these extras in a separate post.

Station wagons: why would you drive anything else? You can drive it around town, it has a decent sized engine that doesn't chew up too much petrol, you can see out the back, you can fit a family or all your mates or your drum kit or whatever in the back with no hassles, parking is no big deal, and plus if you're up bush or on the coast somewhere you can put the seats down and sleep very comfortably inside.

I was flipping channels earlier tonight and came across Top Gun. I watched that movie a million times when I was younger...I memorized just about all of the dialogue back then, and I was surprised to find out that I still remember most of it today. ;-) It also seems like the movie gets shorter and shorter each time it's on television...they keep cutting stuff out and adding more commercials. I remember what scenes (and what parts of scenes) are missing...isn't that sad? Anyway, Joe Satri...er, I mean...Steve Stevens did a great job with the theme song.

DelfinoPie - Yeah, GNR were a very cool band. I like Scott Weiland more than Axl Rose, though, so I'm doing fine listening to Velvet Revolver...even though I do miss Izzy.

The Alice In Wonderland story was written by Lewis Carroll...I bet you knew that already. In 1951, Disney did make a movie based on the story. Other people have probably made movie versions as well...that wouldn't surprise me.

Now that I'm thinking about Disney, I also remember really liking The Rescuers Down Under. I haven't seen that movie in a long time, though...so maybe it sucks and I didn't realize it because I was young. I should watch it again sometime.

Chuck Joseph (as was!): I got it! Confirmed the sale yesterday and spend a total of 90 minutes on the phone to America getting it sorted. Got it for the asking price of $4,500 in the end with another $250 for fully insured shipping. I'm RATHER excited.

I would like to add my thoughts on the 'Chrome Boy' v 'Crystal Planet' debate that arose a few posts ago. I am lucky enough to have one of each and am obviously in a good position to compare. My main point would be to dispute the view that the Crystal Planet does not sound good, in fact I would say whilst the sounds are quite different I actually prefer the sound of the CP. it has a warmer more rounded sound but still has the punch you would expect from this type of instrument. I would agree the Chrome Boy has more immediacy and is definately more 'in yer face' but I guess it's a matter of taste. Someone posted a while back that the Crystal Planet sounded weak and fed back badly, all I can say is that is absolutely NOT my experience and whoever did experience that had something seriously wrong with their set-up. The guitar sustains like hell with no feedback problem. The only criticism I would have of the CP. is the weight, it's bloody heavy! Anyway in my experience both instruments are fantastic and all you would expect of a top end instument from Ibanez.

I attended the G3 2004 tour on the 26th June in Birmingham, and it was the first time I saw you. For the last three years now your music has meant more to me than any other artist, group or musician in history, so to see you live was possibly the defining moment of my life so far. If you read this, which is undoubtful as I'm sure you're busier than your average Joe (no pun intended), please also pass on my regards to Messr Vai, who was, as I expected, mind blowing. But you, Joe, you topped the night off. You played a few of my all time favourites, which was something special, and you were just generally a charming, inspirational individual. Anyone heard anything about John Deacon (Bassist from Queen) at all in the last 10 - 15 years or has he completely vanished off the face of the planet? It would be interesting to know what he is doing nowadays.

TASTEY, just looking for a 'news' voice really - it's got to be clear enough to be easily understood. Do you have a regional accent? Also, time wise, that's cool cause each 'newscast' (there's 3 of em) in the track lasts about 10 seconds.

michelle I have two Disney favorites, Robin Hood and Fantasia. Or both of Fantasia actually, so it's three favorites. ;) I have listened to Dave's cd once and I like it, but I'll have to listen to it a few times more to really get an opinion. I don't have what I'd call a collection but I do have a few other guitars that are shared with my Son but no other Ibanez, luckily all the family shares a love of guitars and guitar music(especially Satch) so we don't have any conflict of interests. I have a Les Paul Standard, a USA Strat and various acoustics (21,6 and resenators) In addition to those I build guitars as a hobby so I have a number of customs of my own (toooo many guitars) but there you go, you've got to do something on dark winter nights.
