My media law professor played George Carlin's "Seven Filthy Words" monologue in class a few weeks ago, before a lecture on the differences between pornography, obscenity, and indecency. Fun stuff...LOL.

Sharif I think you have something there, I almost dont want to have kids when I'm older cuase of what society and people have become, it is sickening to anything. Every thing gets worse as time goes by, its all leading up so somthing big at the end-whether you are religous and you think its the return of Christ or whatever or WWIII or the end of the world- that is what it eventually will lead to, our own destruction. Personally I am religous and I think there will be a big war befored Christ returns but that is one opinion out of many. Of course we have the right to our opinion in this country but maybe someday we wont even have that or freedom of speech or anything. I mean look, they are trying to take weapons away in the U.S. and it is the second amendmant! You have the right to bear arms, how can they take away our second biggest law! The second law our country has ever had! Anyway, this is too long and that is just one example. We could go on for hours and pages.

Also, I saw Yngwie Malmsteen play at the show and I liked it but I havnt really followed his music. Does anyone know what the songs he played were called?

Ovation1: I've got the PC equivalent of Protools for under $2500. It acctually outperforms a $20,000 protools rig. I'm using Sonic Foundry Vegas as the editor. I have a 24bit 96khz Ardvark Q10 interface that allows me to record 8 inputs into 8 individual tracks in real time. Also, so far I've had 40+ tracks open and playing back in real time with no need for mix down. It sounds awesome too!!

Danny K: Good lesson man! My only gripe is that no one ever writes lessons about string damping, which is the most important technical issue on guitar. Without being able to keep the strings sounding clean from note to note you won't be able to play fast high gain lines

TASTEY, hehe, pleased I could be of service! By 'stupid questions' I meant things like those who repeatedly ask how old Joe is, when you can find that out anyway, or people like 'Karloff', who come and post the same question once a day for weeks, and in his case it was about the technical side to Joe's choice of Digitech Whammy, why he used the Mk1 and not the Mk4, and how Karloff could get his whammy to sound like Joe's.

That's the sort of question you post once, but no, Karloff did it about 20 times. Now he really was a twat!

Stu Clone, yeah I would imagine the definition of twat is the same on both sides of 'the pond'
No stupid questions allowed? Damn! I was going to ask Joe if I could have one of his guitars... hehe, oh go on then! Ask! hehe. I'd laugh if you got a message back 'from the blue' saying "yeah sure, which one do you want?"
Austin, yeah it's the front cover of Venus Isle, without the text on it, just the picture. It's really big, probably American A1 size, and below the image, on the white border, there's an embossed "EJ" logo, and Max's and Eric's signatures in pencil. It's gourmét, it's going to be such an inspiration having that hanging on the wall over my amp!
Master Yoda, regards the texturing ~ something I have noticed quite a lot with Steve and Nuno's playing, is that they will play a rhythm part, and the drummer will play a beat for every note/sound that they strike. Check out "Kill The Guy With The Ball" (especially on the DVD) to see what I mean!
mischievous, 963? have I put on weight? hehehe. I like your 'about the members' post, very interesting to read
the prez, almost! only, instead of typing 'bold' between those brackets just put a b.
JS JS, no probs man, I dunno what the misundertsanding was, but I can promise I haven't been at all pissed at you, or offeneded by your opinions! Peace dude :)
wow, I'm getting really excited about Steve's DVD, reading all these posts! I wish we didn't have to wait till January!

JS JS - Yngwie changed his set throughout the tour, so we can't really help you out with his setlist. Maybe you could find a Yngwie message board somewhere...people there might be able to help you.

962 - That's cool. I like a lot of the artwork from EJ's CDs, but the VI stuff is at the bottom of the list (that's just my opinion, though). I guess I have weird tastes...for example, I'd absolutely love to have a poster of the Tones painting. It's on either the inside cover or the back cover (I don't remember, and I don't have the CD case with me here at school)...I think there was a note saying that the album's title was inspired by the painting, too.

A huge print of the Ah Via Musicom cover would be cool, too.

Anyhoo, those are just my personal tastes. I'm glad that you like it. :-)

stringG - That is definitely NOT Joe. So many songs have been incorrectly listed under his name on filesharing services. I guess some people think Joe is the only instrumental guitarist in the world...LOL.

OVATION1 - Did you see my last post? Man, i got the dvds :-))). My friend, are you upset with me?? Sorry if i said anything wrong or bad, my apologies ;-). Yes, the new videos from Gonçalo are really amanzing. The song MOVIMENTO PERPÉTUO is not a Gonçalo` song. It`s a old piece from CARLOS PAREDES, a master of Portuguese Guitar. STEVE VAI has a dvd of CARLOS PAREDES, offered to him when he palyed in Portugal in 2001. Nice to see you my friend. In a few days i have something special to tell you, stay tuned, my American Italian friend :-)!! Regards!!

DO THE STU - I think that we deserves it because we are a fantastic community. I`m not doing this for me, really, i`m doing this for us, for Joe and for RED CROSS. I was invited to give an interview next week in a Radio and in next year maybe i will go~to a program on TV. I`m not a virtuoso guitar player but i do all my songs with energy and love. I`m a good friend and respected citizen and the persons like this and enjoy my feeling like guitar player. Sometimes i gave little guitar lessons for a few friends but i have a lot to learn as musician and guitar player as well ;-). Thanks a lot and take care.

do the stu...they'll probably win it instead..although the 'real' winner is Vai.

962...according to some shops here in uk..they get the vai dvd 19th of december. texturing..a drum beat for every rythmn strike..sounds interesting...i've been trying to do that with mine..but it never quite works..perhaps i'm going about the right thing the wrong way...

zachary..so your not all like the simpsons? :P d'oh!! seriously though...some americans are cool...but some are dubmasses.like here in the uk..its just that the dumbasses get all the attention..

OCPS470: You lucky dawg!!.... Where did you find that, and it actually out-performs a $20,000 rig?!?!.... 40+ tracks open and playing back in real time with no need for mix down. Man, that sounds amazing, and I alway's though MAC was better, lol, could you give me the name of it, I'd like to check it out, thank's!!.... Oh, btw, I agree with you on string damping, lol, a hard technique to master, just ask George Lynch!! ;-)....

Do The Stu: The Tones painting is on the back cover of the case, lol, just wanted to post that ;-)....

mischievous: I busted out when I read Satch-O-Magic Pillow, haha, that sound's like a pillow which will take you Flying In A Blue Dream when you are sick!!.... lol, you need to patent that, and glad to hear the med's are working!! :-)....

alexandrecaetano: lol my brotha, I must have been typing like a Fury yesterday that I did'nt catch your post, lol!!.... Congrat's on getting those DVD Treasures!!.... hey joe heyguys

THAT SUCKS! i only discovered last week how fantastic michael landau is, and now when i want to buy his cds theyve been discontinued.

on a lighter note.................

yes, eddie van halen has still got it!!! he's just as good now as he was when he first started out. i just been listening to him play three killer guitar solo's on steve lukathers new album. i think it would be really cool if van halen made a 2004 comback with an instrumental album. so many singer have messed them about over the years i think an instumental would be the start of a new era for van halen.

i was just wondering, have/do any famous friends of joe's(i.e. steve vai, eric johnson, steve lukather) ever come on T2J.?IMAGINE HOW COOL THAT WOULD BE.

i dont know if this is 100% true, but ive heared that this years G3 dvd is going to be the full 2.5 hour show rather than 3 songs each.

album of the day: mike landau tales from the bulge

Tastey - If its one thing I hate its competion in guitar playing!

I know from experience that it is hurtful to see or even hear people saying that you stink at playing guitar, or even that your just not liked as much as the others.
My boyfriend plays as well as me, and its hard for him to take in that I might be just a tiny wee bit better (because of the experience, as I've been playing for five odd years, and he's only been playing for one and a bit)
However I do try to make fellow guitarist around me to see everyone as different and to not see guitar playing as a competion.
In my eyes Joe Sat is the classist guy in rock heaven, and we all want a bit of it, and maybe even a bit of BB Kings tone and many others. But we can try our best to make out that, one is the best over all, I say there isn't, I say we all are the best, everyone is a shredin' and blues machine!
Rock in peace! :)
