Rythmsteady- I agree on the goosebumps but I really get goosebumps on the live performances with the extended outro...like on the Live In San Francisco DVD or the Live In Paris Version So exquisite & perfect.............. <3

the playing that is........ not the effects .........although I don't mind 'em :-)

Rhythmsteady - There are a few different ways to make sounds like that...if you name a specific moment in a song, someone here can probably tell you what Joe is doing.

In general, he scrapes his pick against one of the wound strings, or slides his fingers across the strings, or plays ghost notes. Cranking up the gain and/or distortion helps too.

And you can buy guitar tab books for just about all of Joe's albums. You can get the Chickenfoot one from Amazon here.

Peace Lily - You mean Satriani Live! and Live In Paris, right? :-) AWMAWY on LISF is the "regular" version.
Listening to: Isaac Carter & Jason Bodlovich - Corcovado (current song: Casa de Spicer)

Finally, my girlfriend is home with her smart phone so I can watch all these videos that are piling up! The video card on my laptop is just too old, and it is very risky for me to open a video and risk it crashing. So, I will watch webisode #1 momentarily!

Yesterday I decided to stumble in to the book store to pillage through their used DVD and CD section and I struck gold! I got 4 DVD's for $12 and 2 brand new Sammy Hagar CD's for $6 (Livin' it Up!, and Greatest Hits Live!), the first I bought so I could listen to 'Halfway to Memphis'. I REALLY love that song! The DVD's were: Eric Johnson's Anaheim show, Jimi Hendrix Live at the Isle of Wright, Nirvana Live, and The Blue Man Group's Complex Rock Tour Live.
I had never seen BMG before, so I was really thrilled to find their DVD for $1. Surprisingly, I watched it before even the Hendrix show (I've seen a lot of that footage), and am really happy that I bought it. My favorite song on that DVD is their cover of The Who's Baba O'Riley.
*EDIT- That has Tracy Bonham on Vocals, FYI. Sorry if that's been posted here before!

Michelle- Yeah, I almost bought the new Disturbed album yesterday on top of all my other purchases, but the main reason I went in there was to get Paul Gilbert's new album, and they didn't have it; so, I'm gonna have to put in an Amazon order and I figured Amazon would have the Disturbed CD cheaper than $25.

Here's the concert opener from that DVD, Above. It seems a little more true to the Group's roots.

punkdude75 - I love that version of Wild Night...such a great song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aoywIHLqbs

turbo236 - Money well spent! FYI, a more rockin' studio version of Halfway To Memphis is on Sammy's Not 4 Sale album from a few years earlier. That album is out of print, but it's worth buying if you can ever find it. Another song on there, Karma Wheel, is similar in sound/style to Chickenfoot's Learning To Fall.

And Greatest Hits Live is an excellent album too. Those live versions have been repackaged on a few different albums over the years...I think I first heard that stuff in the late 1990s. You did well. :-)

CHECK YOU FACEBOOKS EVERYONE!!

Premonition is up already, and it sounds INCREDIBLE! That song is going to make me want to drive really fast when I listen to it in the car. This may be my favorite so far, just going off the clip, and that's really saying something. Just like Joe says, it sounds very 'intense'.

Good footage of the studio and everyone playing I see. Also noticed that Joe was using his white on black Chickenfoot guitar for this one. I wonder if he's using it in the CF configuration at all? I caught a glimpse of it on the first vid during God is Crying, too. I would imagine he's got them set up for his solo work right now, and is just using them because he likes the sound and is probably got a good feel for them since they've just recently come off heavy use. It would be a little weird to see one at a solo show, though. I figure the JS2400 will see quite a bit of stage time this year; I'm pretty excited to see Joe play it.. I'm glad I decided to check FB one more time before bed!
Enjoy!

Now the album excitement is really starting to hit me.. I was in Iraq when PSATMOR was released, so I didn't have access to the internet. I did have it pre-ordered and shipped over to me, though. I was too busy to really count down the days, and with the mail over there, you never know when something is going to show up anyway.

I didn't jump on the Joe wagon until October, 2005, so I was pretty new when Super Colossal came out. I believe I ordered that one from Amazon after it came out and then I kept on building my collection of Joe music and eventually came on over here and finally saw him in Reno in '08. Now I am on the Joe train. A Satchaholic, perhaps. Anyway, my point was that this is the first time I've actually been on the Joe train and in the comfort of my home for an album release (aside from Chickenfoot and Live in Paris). The planets are aligned and this album is gonna be damn good!
