Sky Ant / JayRider - You have a pretty good chance of meeting Joe by his bus after the gig. He tries to come out after every show, but sometimes he doesn't.
aliensynergy - We have general admission gigs in the US...they just aren't as common as they are in other countries. Small venues (<2,000 people or so) are commonly general admission, and the large outdoor venues usually have a space up front for a few hundred general admission people, and space in the back for a few thousand general admission people. If I had to guess, I'd say general admission shows aren't popular here because:
1.) Lawsuits resulting from injuries or deaths at these events (The Who in 1979, for example...) end up costing people LOTS of money.
2.) I think promoters / venues can make more money with assigned seating and a variety of price levels.
crispin - General admission wasn't "banned" because of the incident at the concert by The Who, but it certainly made it less popular.
sugarbear - "Electric Liquid" would be cool.

sugarbear Liquid prayer would be the coolest of the three titles.
crispin A new Wallace and Grommit? Cool! Did you watch any of this year's creature comforts shorts?
mick87 I just mentioned Dave Gilmour because earlier on he seemed to perform loads in a guinness t shirt.
Talking of alchohol, on monday I got two free pints of Sam Smiths bought for me by the climbing club because they couldn't fit me in to the indoor wall, yesterday I went along to the sailing club meeting without even signing up and got 3 free cans of Caffrey's, and today I got a free Tetley's for signing up to the Tories (and I got to hear Theresa Mat talk, too (and she was wearing THE SHOES (do you know what I mean, the famous ones)) and also got a load of free wine (cheap plonk) and free supper from the provost of my college in York Uni. Not bad, eh? Soon I'll have a big belly, though.
SOTD: 21st century Schizoid Man. I'm just learning this now. Wow, what a cool song. I really can't believe they wrote this in the 60s. I mean, you had the beatles, and then King Crimson came out with this amazingly heavy 8 minute long thing. Wow. I still really can't believe its a 60s song. Clarky or R6Rocker, do you have any comments?
Person of the day: all the original King Crimson lineup.

I know they're long, but hey... Here are two of my favorite scenes from The Simpsons:
1.) Mother Simpson (3F06)
Grandma: [singing] How many roads must a man walk down before you can call him a man?
Homer: Seven!
Lisa: No, Dad, it's a rhetorical question.
Homer: Rhetorical, eh? Eight!
Lisa: Dad, do you even know what "rhetorical" means?
Homer: [incredulous] Do I know what "rhetorical" means?!
2.) Much Apu About Nothing (3F20)
Later, a full-force Bear Patrol is on watch. Homer watches proudly.
Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm.
Lisa: That's spacious reasoning, Dad.
Homer: Thank you, dear.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer: Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn't work.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: It's just a stupid rock.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you?
[Homer thinks of this, then pulls out some money]
Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.
[Lisa refuses at first, then takes the exchange]
The mail arrives.
Homer: Woo-hoo! A perfect day. Zero bears and one big fat hairy paycheck.
[opens it up]
Hey! How come my pay is so low? ... Bear patrol tax! This is
an outrage! It's the biggest tax increase in history!
Lisa: Actually, Dad, it's the smallest tax increase in history.
Homer: Let the bears pay the bear tax. I pay the Homer tax.
Lisa: That's home-_owner_ tax.
Homer: Well, anyway, I'm still outraged.

fused - I didn't ditch you dude... lol this abacus crashed..lol
artanis - if I had the ability to do numbers and stuff I wouldn't have been messed up enough so I would have known how many..
the next day told me it was too many... so tonight I mended it with some more .. lol
yoda - I went to a bar here... they only had Heineken pumps.. I asked for something else than Heineken.. the barmaid was an Ozzy and had no idea of what I was talking about... the potential for being funny was sooooo lost... lol..so I just enjoyed the moment... I used to being this missunderstodd... lmao
timerider - if you've played guitar that long like was there dinosaurs and monsters and stuff.. and electricity
you must be the only guy in here that's been playing longer than me... and my first guitar and amp was made of mammoth tusk.. lol
mick87 - no worries... just for a moment I was thinking clearly.. lol
stu M - I play for David Cross [from King Crimson] and I was asked to re-arrange 21st C Schitz... like a 21st C re-mix... I came up with heavier guitars and replaced the jazzy mid section with a funk rock groove.. however, I maintainded - I hope - the spirit of the track.... it'll be on Davids next release... sounds very cool

Damn this sucks! The best G3 ever and they're not coming to NM. Joe, please book a show at the Journal Pavilion next summer. I say next summer because concert season at the journal is about over, and I hate going to indoor concerts. Absolutley shtitty acoustics that I cant deal with. And besides, outdoor shows set better moods on those "starry nights". please take it into consideration. Thanks a mil. satch is the guitar god whom i worship! lol

OK I'm sitting here listening to some Satch while I read Portuguese (exam tomorrow and I have to read everything we've done all semester, so I had to do something to make the time pass faster) and I finally gotta say something. SECRET PRAYER FOR G3 IN WPB!!!!! You may now go back to your regularly scheduled programming. Thank you. ;)

yup, 30 years here
as for the guy that asked about sweeping exercises
take any 6 string pattern you like, and vibrato the first note, sweep to last string vibrato that string, do same coming back
then do same for every second note, then 3rd you get the idea slow at first, even tho you may not have it at some point. try it as fast as you can possibly go now and then, will probly not be clear, but amazing how it can help when you go back to the slower basics :)

Thanks all for the explination on the general admission. I always ended up front for concerts back home. But I can understand why they don't like to do it much here.
Do The Stu- Joe played Crushing Day the first gig in Phoenix. And I read somewhere [vai site maybe?] that he played starry night recently.
Hey BIGTOE, whats up.
