Hello everyone! I spent the last 2 days moving to a new place, had to get a new phone#, new mailing address...blah blah blah..you know how it goes. I HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!! YAHOOO! Anyways, QUANTUM, I agree with you on Chords of Life, there certainly is a taste of Jimi in there. I cant get Oriental Melody out of my head now..lol.....New Last Jam is my second favorite. Oriental Melody has a Led Zep, "Kashmir" feel to it...I love that song....Also, my apologies to anyone who likes Kenny Wayne Shepard, I stand my ground on my opinion of him though. Steve Vai...Joe Satriani...and Kenny Wayne Shepard? C'mon now...he's not even in their league. He looked so out of place on stage with those guys..........SBM rules!!

JOE - hope the show went well tonight, as I'm sure it did. I hope you notice the recent attention EOC has garnered on this board (nearly as much as SBM!). I think many of us would really love to see some favorites from EOC make it onto the American setlist. Come on, Joe, you responded to our pleas for Crushing Day, now, let's all indulge in some fine "Champagne?" together!

I tried to figure out the main riff to Mind Storm last night. Very tasty. It's going to take some time though. If this song isn't rock n roll, some of you are deaf. Great album Joe.

Hey joe,
I normally don't say much on this message board; I usually just read others thoughts. But I really needed to congradulate you on your new album. It is so fantastic, beautiful, and inspiring! I have to be honest with you. I am huge fan of yours and you are my favorite guitar player. I dowloaded the entire album a while before the official release date b/c I just couldnt stand not getting a taste of what the new album of my favorite player was like if it was right there in front of me. Of course, I bought the album. Gotta support Joe, and isnt the original always better anyway? Gotta have them pictures! Anyway, when I first heard the album, I was like, "What is this...??!" and I was actually sort of depressed for a couple of days as a result. But of course, I couldnt just give up on a Joe Satriani album. So, I kept listening...and boy did things change. I just started feeling these rushes of emotion, inspiration, and happiness every time I listened to the album. Joe, the melodies that you play and the way that you phrase and the whole atmosphere of sound that you create as a whole are just so beautiful and magical. And you truly are evolving as a player.
Without a doubt in my mind Joe, you are becoming if you arent already, the Larry Carlton of rock guitar. I say that in the sense that you have that "touch", that intangible factor that is just so amazing and that everyone can feel deep down within themselves, something that Larry Carlton is known for. And Joe, I know that you have always wanted to aspire to attain a level of greatness the way Jimi Hendrix did...well if you arent there yet, you are so freaking close it aint funny; that is, if you arent past that yet! That's b/c you never think that you have arrived there; you just keep seeing that that mountain is higher!
Seriously Joe, you are the greatest and you have changed so many people's lives with your music and playing. Don't ever stop playing that "song" Joe. Thank you Joe.
Forever blessed by Joe Satriani's music,
Michael Ward
P.S. I read your interview with Guitar World. It was deeply inspiring, especially that of the part where you talk about "Chords of Life", about how you talked about the barre chords in the chorus, about just getting back to that time when we were just starting to play the guitar, and the simplest things meant and were so cool to each of us. I think that is something that we all have to always remember: no matter how far along the path of guitar playing and musicianship that you go, you should always make sure that you can see where you started. Best of luck on tour Joe. Hope to get a chance to shake your hand and meet ya at Jones Beach in September!

Here's a news piece from Pollstar about the new tour. Hopefully Joe and the band will have enough time (and decent enough connectivity) to upload some photos now that the shows are underway! Be assured, once they start coming in, you'll be able to see 'em!
Oh yeah, since the web site runs on Pacific Standard Time, you may have to wait a number of hours to post your reviews for shows in other timezones! Just save it and post it a few hours later :}

webmaster - I tried to get the Oriental Melody and Starry Night downloads. I made it to the Sony page where I have to click "download", but I get an error message on the next page. It was "There was an error in retrieving the requested track license. "... What's that mean? Did this happen to anyone else?

Here's part 6...
Sleep Walk - This is an interesting choice for a cover. It's very different for Satch. The original isn't one of my favorite songs, but Joe certainly does a good job with it. My favorite parts here, like in Mind Storm, are the little bits like 1:11-1:23.
Any other comments?

Hi Joe, great new album. Totally soulful as usual. I like the fact your going out on a limb more on this album, dancing on the edge. Your experimental side has your most beautiful and genious stuff in my opinion. I even heard a little Hendrix in there this time and some seven string guitar and I love all the harmonies and exotic scales. What a great way to re-invent yourself. Anyway, I just wanted to drop by and say how great I think the new album is. Once again I'm inspired to go and record, like I often am when you release a new CD! Thanks for the music....once again.

hey Joe,
I love the new album, i think it's awesome. I got 2 questions for ya
1st: When are ya gonna come to Nashville, TN? I'd love to see ya live, i think it would be awsome.
2nd: Who is Rubina? I love the song, just wondering who the person is.
Well best of luck in the future Joe, keep making awsome music.

SBM is certainly working it's way up my "Satch Chart"! It only started out quite close to the bottom, just above NOTE, FIABD, and SWTA. But it sure is a climber - right now it's at third place, just above Joe Satriani and just below The Extremist. It might well overtake The Extremist soon, but I don't think anything will ever top Crystal Planet...
Cor24 - Rubina is Joe's wife.

pakihaki - I had a little trouble reading your post... Did you say Joe played Crushing Day and I Believe? I love I Believe...I hope he does it here in the US. It'd be cool if you could write a review for the tour page and include a set list. Thanks. :-)
climber - Post it here when you figure parts of it out...I'm sure we can help with parts you might not know.
atomiq - Try to post the review again. Did you write down the set list?
sebboi98661 - I don't think Joe will make it to the Northwest this time around...sorry.

I just read a whole bunch of peoples reviews and I saw some weird stuff in their like comparing joe to zeppelin and hendrix, I dont know if its just me on this but I couldnt agree less man, he has all these differend feels in there but everything joe does is him and I dont think its fair to joe to put him down on those gyes levels of playing I mean sure they are true greats but nobody compares to joe, there is just this unexplanable vibe ressonating from his music unlike hendrix where you could figure it all out in a couple minutes or what not, and page is up there but more in a action packed sort of way, most gyes that are truely great build up the solo and than take down easy like joe but page is just crazy the whole way which creats his own style but it is not on joes level of just pure unexplainability he just wows after every song and comes back to throw down more crazy stuff the next time around....... and every time you think you know joes style he changes it on you so your just lost yet amazed thats what this new cd has been all about more relaxed yet still uncontrollable joe
