I agree with you guys. This was the best concert ever. It was hard-rockin' and relaxed at the same time. I sat up the front row A10 and A11 with my girlfriend and we kicked back drinking bourbon and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Even my girlfriend (who is only a beginning guitarist) absolutely loved it.
I especially loved the voice-box in "I Just Wanna Rock" and all the oldies he pulled out. At one stage Joe said "I could play the blues all night" followed by an almighty cheer. He definitely could!!!
Every song was different and he captured the original feeling and nuances of his melodic lead work. He also improvised many parts adding tasteful lines in his recent "less is more" and "choose the right note, not a thousand notes" approach. This is not to say that he can't shred like he used to coz he sure as heck can!!! The Satch is an unbelievable musician.
One question... What's the go with everyone boo-ing Stu Hamm? I thought he rocked. I was on his side of stage and he was tight, complex and accurate all night. The rhythm guitarist, on the other hand, should have been booed coz he looked like he didn't want to be there and his lazy strumming often departed from the beat. Anyway, that's my only criticism!!!
Overall, this was the best performance I have ever seen. Realistically, Joe could have been playing snooker and missed all his shots and I would still enjoy it. lol. Thanx for a great night out Joe. Oh yeah, and happy birthday! Loved the rubber domes the other musos wore to make them all look bald when they brought the cake out. The drummer kept his on for the whole encore. Champion.
