I've been to a lot of concerts before, and even though I was physically uncomfortable having to climb over hundreds of screaming people in order to get a peek, I'd have to say that G3 was the best concert I've ever been to and can't wait untill you guy's come around again. John Petrucci was a great opener. Vai was incredible "a real presents." Satriani didn't move around alot or wear outrages hats, but his music spoke for it self, simply blew me away., He is the only man that could play after Vai. Thanks for a great show. It was great. 3 hour plus show with three encores. He played all the greats like Satch Boogie, Surfing and Always with me. Plus he played all of my faves off of Crystal Planet like Ceremony, Raspberry Jam, etc. Great show. It was cool watching Joe sing on Big Bad Moon, and it was funny when the bass went out during the bass solo. Stu got really pissed and everybody said "fuck you sound guy". Ha! On the last encore with the last three songs (one of which was Rubina), Joe had this big "Cat in the Hat" hat, which was very cool and gave him a real Santa Cruz vibe. Thanks Joe, great show.

This was a damn good show. Everything about it was sick. The reason why I gave it a 9 is because their was no drum solo and they didn't play Engines of Creations.

I've seen Satriani live several times before, but this was by far the most inspired performance, technically and emotionally, that I have ever seen on stage. April 14th is also my 18th birthday, and it was really special being able to meet Joe and the rest of the band backstage afterward. Possibly the most profound musical experience of my life. -Giusto DiLeo

Well, if you ask my little brother he would've given it a 10 for sure. This was his first Satriani concert and will definitely be what he measures almost everything else up to. First time at the Warfield - definitely a great place with tons of people but still stayed very personal at the same time. Joe played really well. He seemed a little drained of energy at some points during the night. This was his 3rd gig on this tour so he was probably just getting used to life on the road again. Not the best I've seen him, but even if he was at half his level it would be better than most performers 100%. His stage presence is so uplifting. You can just tell what a positive guy he is. Only 4 songs from the new album: Attack, Borg Sex, Until We Say Goodbye, and Clouds Race Across the Sky. Lots of old favorites. I'm so glad he doesn't tour with a supporting band. He was able to cram 30 + songs into his set; which lasted 2 and a half hours or longer. Raspberry was definitely the highlight of the night for me. Didn't get to hear him play it on the Crystal Planet tour because he said "One of my pedals broke" so we figured it was his Whammy pedal which is needed for the crazy high parts in that song. It's ok... Surfing With the Alien was a good substitute. Satch is the man!

I saw the show at the Warfield and it rocked. Having a second guitar player made the sound much fuller and it was incredible to watch the two guitar slingers Eric and Joe to exchange lines during "Borg Sex". Joe should do more songs of that nature, or at least create some cool jams like that to do live. Joe mingled through every album and gave a sort of Greatest Hits show, but only a few songs from the new record we performed. This was kind of disappointing, but it is understandable given the type of new material on the new record. Still missing from his live shows are songs from his "Time Machine" album, songs like "Crazy" and "The Mighty Turtle Head" would be awesome to see live. I, being only 24, did not see Joe during his Flying in a Blue Dream Days, also missed the two-handed songs like "Day at the Beach" and "Midnight". All in all, the show was great, with an awesome display of fretwork and driving sounds, watching Satch play "The Mystical Potatoe Head Groove Thing" is always the highlight of the show. I wonder if Satch will do a Reggae or Country instrumental album someday? by, Noodleboy

Fantastic gig. It only gets a 9 though because when I saw Joe Satriani play at The old Cotati Cabaret back when "Surfing With the Alien" was released, that was the gig that scores a 10. For me, nothing could ever beat that show. . .

From Time (my fav. song) to Rubina, Joe, Stu, Jeff, and Eric blew me away. This was by far the best concert I have ever been to, The first and second sets were equally amazing and almost all of the top choice songs were played. Time, Borg Sex, Clouds Race, and Train of Angels were awesome. Joe was smokin when he was playin guitar and harmonica on Extremist and Big Bad Moon. Joe thanks for the incredible evening, we all hope you pass through the Bay Area again soon.

That was my first show at the Warfield, and it was FANTASTIK !! OUT OF THIS WORLD !! Joes tone was super great as usual and he did alot of improvisation on key solos and on his outros and the rest of the band was on as well !! so it was just an all around great show. Its so cool to look around while he's jamming and see the hapiness on peoples faces and the joy he brings to life and music. I just wish I had backstage passes or could have got to meet Joe, i've seen him like 5 times now(this time was the best cause of the small venue) ---oh well mabey next time---and Joes got the BEST website, dosent he ?!?!

It was time for all of the wannabes to step aside on Friday the 14th. The master purveyor of Sonic Bombardment was in town and he was kicking major ASS! Joe put on one of the best instrumental showcases I have ever seen and I have seen alot! I have been playing for 22 years and Joe proved that there is still so much to learn on the guitar. What can I say other then...Thanks Joe.

Joe and the crew were just out of control. Joe put on a spectacular display of finesse, control and groove. To put it lightly, Joe busted out the boots on bad ass, was steppin' all over bad ass - bad ass is on the run cause my man and his crew is so scary. Joe seemed happy to play in front of the home crowd; the crowd was glad to have him. Joe's tone, attack, bending and sustain are incomprable. He's one of the most inventive players to ever grace the instument. He demonstrated one of the strongest arms in rock n' roll, tossing a guitar pick clear over the floor in front the stage to hit us on the first rise from the stage. This was at least a 30-40 foot frisbee toss of a very light pick. I believe the NFL might have missed out on Hall of Fame type QB. Stu Hamm has a nice little gag where he acts as if his bass is on the futz so he can get a jr. is his hands for the bass solo. Gotta throw Stu a bone; he is one monster player.

Well, I didn't know about the concert until less than a week before it happened, so we got terrible seats. But the show was incredible. It was my first Satch concert and I had no idea he would be such a good performer. He didn't just wail on his guitar; he also made a terrific show of it. My one complaint is that from my position in the theater (next to the wall on the balcony :-P) the mixing sounded horrible; on some songs it was hard to hear all of Joe's nuances. Also, Stu's solo was muddled and indistinguishable. I've got to get better seats next time so I can hear everything really well! Other than that, it was a fantastic show - my brother made a joke "These guys have ones that really do go up to 11" (Spinal Tap reference) and it's true - the sound they make is really powerful. One more complaint: one of the lights for the light show was aimed right at me :-) It made it kinda hard to see...

He was AWESOME!! Best ever..It's my first time to see a guitar hero..He's incredible. All his solos are pretty much hard to follow(especially,"the whammy")I think he's style was very unique. The Harmonics are so cool. I like the part when he played Cool#9,Love Thing,Borg Sex,Surfing with the Alien and Summer Song. He almost played every thing that i like. I wish I could see him again in his next upcoming concerts.SATCH.. RULES!!

Woo woo! Great setlist. 3rd show of the tour? Could'a fooled me. Great audio from where we were (back of the main floor), great lighting design. I hope Eric turns towards the audience a little more as the tour goes on. Eric really adds *a lot* to the show. Single best memory would have to be the grooves dished up on Cool #9. After I noticed everybody on stage bobbing their head in sync, i noticed the majority of the audience doing the same.

Fantastic show. I enjoyed seeing Joe in such a small venue, because I got within about 10 feet of him.

Eric was great on keyboards and really funny during "Borg Sex", which rocked live. Jeff is a great drummer, so he was cool. Eric...oh jeez. He was great, but his solo! His bass came unplugged or something. But he had a great recovery! He came out playing a little 21-fret mini bass and did the Peanuts theme. It was cool. The rest of the time, he could rock.

I enjoyed Ceremony, immensely, which is my fav. solo, but all of his songs were great. The only song I missed was "Lights of Heaven" which would have rocked live, although all of the other songs I wanted to hear were played. Can't wait to see him again!

Had to be the best I've seen him play, even with little weenie boy Eric trying to get into the spotlight every now and then! Actually, Eric wasn't too bad on "Borg Sex" so it wasn't a total waste. Too bad they couldn't mix Stu any better, but that may have just been the PA system. Lastly, for those who don't think too highly of "Engines": GO SEE IT LIVE! "Borg" and "Clouds" are way better with Stu and Jeff backing Satch than some machine. You will love it!

I especially liked "clouds racing..." in the 2nd Set. The song starting the 2nd set was making me go to sleep. Leave it somewhere else. "Borg Sex" is a great song. The dynamics of the recording really work. When the stage dynamics can paint the same kind of audio picture live as on the album, that song will be killer. I was hoping for more drum machine tracks on the overall percussion presentation but w/Joe the straight ahead R+R approach will never fail. I love the way he doesn't use a contained(earphone) moniter system. The big side fills and load fronts make hime certainly feel what he is playing and that is a total rush.

Joe, the show was amazing (even though I went home with a splitting headache). I think my head hurt from either the extended loudness or your amazing skill. I just wish i could have been in front like last year (Halloween in San Jose). Instead, the same old mindless freaks hogged the front and stole your attention. I also though the shirts and things were pricey (Didn't stop me from getting one!) The call and response between you and Eric during "Borg Sex" was powerful and memorable. Your perfection and "oneness" with your instrument left me mesmorized throughout the concert. I just wish I could remember the whole concert second for second. If only I had a bootleg!!! You continue to be my biggest source of inspiration in almost all aspects of life and you only boosted it last night!!! Stu also performed fantastically.

Ha ha, I saw some air guitarists out there that were faster than Joe! They'd been practicing! This was a truely awesome show. They mix between slow and fast was just right, and he played all of my favorites. I thought the light show was stellar, but who needs light? Joe can take you into his world if he were playing in a laundromat. The show was well worth standing for 3 hours, although I think I'll by balcony seats next time. My back! Thanks Joe, Jeff, Stu and Eric for coming! I hope to see ya again soon! I wouldn't miss the next concert for the world!

Hello fellow Joe fans!!! I just got home from the show at the Warfield in San Francisco, and it ROCKED!!! I've seen Joe a total of six times now and he gets better every time. I loved all the songs that were picked for the set. The set list could'nt have been any better, the only song I did'nt get to hear that I was hoping for was "Crying" from the Extremist, but thats O.K. I liked "Down, Down, Down" better. The show opened with my favorite Joe song "Time" and closed with "Rubina". Props to Stu on the bass solo, and to Eric Caudieux on the duel guitar section from "Borg Sex". I really like the Evening With Joe idea although the two G3 tours were awesome as well. Hopefully we'll see some more of those in the future. Thanks to Joe, Stu, Eric, and Jeff for a killer show!!! I hope you come back soon.

I'm ranking it 9 because of the light ups. Yes, his play was more than I imagined, but I don't think there was enough lighting to throw me into his rather transitic world.... (or was it on purpose because you guys thought Joe alone is enough to throw us in?)

But hey! I think Joe played very tight! I don't think MTV Limp Bizkit generation kids will necessarily listen to Joe, but as a guitar enthusiast, I feel like I've seen everything that's possible to do on a guitar. Especially I liked the new tunes VERY MUCH, in addition to the old ones. Devil's Slide and Borg Sex worked like sharp razor shaving off my rather rusty ear, filled with crappy radio songs. And Unil We Say Good Bye felt very deeply warm and melodious. The show almost made me feel like Joe has brought the level of rock guitar into another dimension with these new tunes. Yes, MTV, I think it's about time we take what you call "80's rock" more seriously. Thank you so very much, Joe!!!

All I can say is I have now found the method to reach total musical euphoria. 1. Get a balcony seat at the Warfield. 2. Wait for the lights to go out. 3. Fire up a big fat ass doobie. 4. When Joe comes on stage, prepare to blown away!!! This was the best show I have ever seen. When you combine Joe's playing, incredible sound, and an awesome light show, the outcome is just unbelievable. Thank you Joe and your entire band/crew for an outstanding performance. This was the very first time that I have seen Joe live, and I am so glad that I did. I am not really the concert-going type, for a number of reasons, but I am very glad that I did not miss seeing Joe. The audio was great and well-balanced (compared to other modern rock concerts I've ben too and didn't enjoy nearly as much), I was able to hear almost every single note being picked, although I think it started to get a little muddy near the end; sounded to me like the treble strings were going out of tune...but that was nothing really, I still enjoyed every minute. Even though Joe played for more than 2 hours, I could have easily stayed for another two, or more! Like a little kid, I was honestly hoping it would never end! It was the best and I had a great time; I highly recommend seeing Joe live to anyone who loves beautiful guitar music. As a player of the guitar, the biggest surprise for me was Joe's fairly limited use of fret-tapping; I honestly thought that he used it more in his music, but it's just his wickedly fast left hand that does all the work...I was in shock! Anyways, Joe, thanks for he great show, and we love Stu, he was a ton of fun....PEACE!!

Being from England, I was never lucky enough to get to a concert there. This was my first Satriani concert and it was incredible! Joe's guitar work was excellent and it was difficult to realize that I was in fact listening to a live concert as it sounded as good as a studio recording. Having only ever seen recorded concerts on video before (Guitar Greats in Seville) it was wonderful to see 2 1/2 hours of pure unadulterated Joe! Also loved Stu's bass solos! Excellent lighting and sound too! I just wish they would make a video of one of these concerts from the current US tour!

well.. what can I say... not much because sometimes it's hard to describe greatness.. simply put, I've seen Joe eight times now since 1995 and this by far is the BEST show to date (esp. in terms of overall sound/performance from the band). I won't spoil it for those who haven't yet attended (actually, you need to witness it, words won't quite do it justice). Thanks to Jon and Joe for extending the opportunity to meet with the band, etc. and I'll see you in a month or two in Santa Rosa, peace

Without a doubt one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Being a "Satriani Virgin", I really didn't have a clue about what to expect...I really wasn't even familiar with the music. The concert was filled with incredibly enjoyable music played by undescribably gifted musicians. Satriani literally squeezes ounce after ounce of emotion out of his guitar. The lighting of the stage was especially effective. Much love goes out to my main man Steve...who dragged me to the concert and opened up my eyes to something new! :) And Joe...loved the hat...even if it did look goofy with your leather pants!!!!
