Joe, you are my greatest inspiration ever! I was standing right up front by the left speaker, and I'll say that was the loudest, most amazing show I have ever seen!!! I apologize for all the people who were filling the place for cigarette and marijuana smoke, I hope that doesn't discourage you to come back again; hopefully they will make people smoke outside this time! I was among the few teenagers who attended your show, but I know some people my age who wish they could've come. All I have to say is ALWAYS make sure your shows are ALL AGES, because the last time you came here after the EOC tour, I couldn't see you because it was a 21 & over show! That sucks!!! Anyway I LOVED watching you play, and I even found the pick you threw at me and framed it with a picture of you from the Crystal Planet CD, (the one where you're standing in that field next to the fence.) I can't believe some drunk guy asked me after I found it, "Hey, I'll give you a buck for that,"! What an idiot. That was the best concert I've ever been to, and I really hope you'll come back for your next tour! Keep making outstanding music! - Jesse

I have had the pleasure of seeing Joe perform many times with a variety of different band members and it is always a fantastic experience. This particular show was buy far the best I've seen, due in part I believe to the venue. The sound was excellent and the band played for what seemed like 3 hours! Unbelievable! This man is truely "not of this earth". When I left the Crystal that night my feet were'nt even touching the ground and I don't think they did for a few days. I hope that when they come back to Portland they have the opportunity to play in the Crystal Ballroom again. It would be interesting to know what the band members favorite venues in the Portland area are.

I've seen the Satchmaster some 9 times, ranging from Irvine, CA. (Flying in a Blue Dream), to Seattle, WA. (Extremist), to Portland, OR. (every tour since Extremist), and let me just say that Joe is as bad as they come! My favorite show was the "Joe Satriani Tour", when Joe played 2 consecutive nights at the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR. (I saw both shows, of course). I must admit I was disappointed that he didn't mix up the sets for his hardcore fans, oh well. Anyway, he played War and Extremist and Motorcycle Driver... I was in Satriani-Heaven! His performances are always mind blowing and his tone is always the sweetest! The worst Satriani show I ever saw was the Extremist show in Seattle in 1992. The goods must have hit the docks that night, 'cause the crowd was practically comatose! It wasn't Joe's fault, he did a fine job - the audience sucked! The show at the Chrystal Ballroom last May was great, but I would rather see him at the Roseland; I love that place. Joe not only kix butt, he's a nice guy too. When I met him after the G3 show in Port. Ore., he was much more courteous than Kenny Wayne and Steve Vai. Joe signed my Joe Satriani Guitar Secrets book with a genuine smile and extended his hand and thanked me?! As if...! The other guys just sat there with frowns on their faces as if they had forgotten they had the best job in the world, bogus man... Vai may have chops, but Satriani has soul. Mister Satriani, I salute you! One of your strange and not so beautiful fans, Rixter

I WAS ABSOLUTLY AMAZED AT HIS PERFECT TECNIQUE AS ALWAYS. HE GIVES THE CROWD THE FEELING THEY ARE FLYING INTO A LITTLE FANTASY WORLD. HE IS AN INSPIRATION TO MUSIC AND ESPECIALLY TO ASPIRING PLAYERS.

I'm going to be inside with "CLOUDS RACE ACROSS THE SKY". By the time it's showtime she will have freefallen and skydived from the silver bird. hope you don't mind JOE this song is just so appropriate.5-23 aftershow. this was just an incredible display of skill and talent from all involved. How else do you describe the way Eric and Joe traded off on BORG SEX it was just to cool. as for Jeff and Stu i think these two fellas got separated at birth or else they might of been named BOOM AND BAM they were extremely tight and on. note for note. And then there is the MAN Joe. Earlier the day of the concert i went and saw GLADIATOR and well it goes like this "MAXIMUS" JOE the SLAYER. Then came the aftershow passes we (DOVE)won. that was so cool beyond words. but i have pictures and the conversations we had and no one can take that away ever. Stu enjoy little baby (c) from Freddy And Shannon. (Skydiving pictures) that Joe signed "CLOUDS RACE ACROSS THE SKY" see ya' next tour.

I just want to start by saying, "Thank you Joe for coming to Portland!" I consider it a blessing to enjoy your guitar mastery in person. I was second row, and everybody kept teasing me about going up on stage because I have the same haircut you do. Going to your concert, it is impossible not to smile; even though some A-hole to my left was smoking some stinky green. This is my third time seeing Joe, and this was by far the best. Best view, best sound, and best lighting. Borg Sex was stinkin awesome! In the first set, I also really enjoyed Devil's Slide, Flying in a Blue Dream, Cool #9, Circles, UWSG, and Summer Song. In the second set, Down,Down,Down was done with beauty and precision that only Satch can do. My other favorites were Train of Angels, Raspberry Jam Delta-V, Crystal Planet, Love Thing, Always With Me, Always With You, and of Course, Surfing with the Alien. I think my overall favorites were Train of Angels, Raspberry Jam, and Always With Me, Always with you. On the Crystal Planet Tour, you didn't do Train, but you did it on your Snake guitar this time and it brought the house down. Raspberry Jam is stunning to simply hear, but to see your flying fingers gives it a whole new meaning. The only reason this show is a 9 for me is because of 2 things; Time Machine and Crying. I'm not aware of you ever playing Time Machine Live, but I hope that will change with your next tour. It is one of your best songs period, and could have been done with Eric on the tour. Peace & love. Jesus saves!

OK, so maybe going to a 3 hour concert when you're 8 months preggers is less than wise, but even though I only saw the lights for the second set cause I was resting on the floor, it was still amazing. Eric is a wonderful addition to the Joe/Stu/Jeff team, everyone meshes perfectly. Hurry back to Portland, guys!

Sound was the best I've ever heard at a concert, maybe it's just because Joe is so God damn good, but it still sounded perfect. I was standing 3 feet away from the speakers and could still hear perfectly well. Not too much bass and not too much treble, the show rocked!!!

Unbelievable concert! I went with several friends that have been to a couple of Satriani concerts before, but I was new to it. I've always been a fan, as I grew up listening to every tape and CD my brothers had. For a while, Satriani and Vai were all they listened to, and as my music tastes grew, Electric guitar stayed a major part. I've never been to a concert where I got to get so close to the music, emotions, and feelings of not only the musicians, but the fans as well. I got to see up-close-and personal the reactions that the musicians had from the crowd, as crazy as we were. It is nice to get that interaction between the talented performers and their dutiful and appreciating fans standing only feet away. Need I say more about the Joe Satriani and his band (Stu's Solo was the greatest!!), but what better place than the Crystal Ballroom! -The girl in Blue

This show was the best ever. Thanks for bringing the music over Joe! You all make me want to practice and express myself through music for the rest of my life! I can't believe the facets of expresion you can convey through your playing and compositions. All of the emotions and feelings it was a good night to feel so alive, thanks to you and your band Joe! After a long day of analysing music theory it was great to let go and enjoy the spiritual side of what its all about. I knew we were all at the right place tonight. Peace bro! I owe you everything bud.
